Miri Gad Messika is a third-generation member of Kibbutz Be'eri and a graduate of the communal child-rearing system. Brought up in the idyllic Southern Israel community, directly on the border with Gaza, no one in her community ever could have imagined the horrors that unfolded on October 7, 2023.
On that horrifying and fateful day--like all 1200 members of Be'eri--Miri, her husband, and three children hid in their home's secure room as terrorists rampaged through their community.
Terrorists broke into their house and attempted to breach the door of the secure room. When they failed, they set the house on fire, with the whole family inside.
Miri and her family had no choice but to jump from the second-floor window to survive. Neighbors who saw the family jumping ran to their aid and helped them escape to safety. During their evacuation, the bus carrying the family was shot at by terrorists, but miraculously no one was injured. Miri’s extended family also narrowly escaped the horrors of that day.

For the past two decades, she has served in numerous senior executive and business consulting roles. Miri holds BA and MA degrees in marketing communications, psychology, and business administration. She is also an NLP Master, a mental coach, a group facilitator, and a mindfulness instructor.
Since the October 7 attack, Miri has taken charge of managing Kibbutz Be'eri's communications and public image, with the goal of rebuilding the kibbutz, which suffered tremendous devastation. She strives to restore its values of success, resilience, growth, and prosperity. Additionally, she is committed to efforts aimed at the return of the hostages, commemorating the victims of the massacre, and restoring security to the kibbutz and the northwestern Negev.

Ihab Shlayan (born 1981 in Upper Nazareth, Israel) is a Lieutenant Colonel in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Reserves and one of the most prominent voices for Christian-Aramean identity in Israel. Over a military career spanning 24 years, he served in both combat and security roles, becoming the highest-ranking Christian officer in the IDF. An engineer by training, Shlayan holds degrees in electronics, digital communications, and cybersecurity. In 2012, he founded and continues to lead the Forum for Christian Enlistment, also known as "The Christian Voice" or "Voice of Israeli Christian Eagles," to promote the enlistment of Israeli Christians into the IDF and to advocate for greater Christian representation in national and local institutions. His activism focuses on securing official recognition of Aramean identity, improving municipal services in Christian areas such as Nazareth and the Upper Galilee, and strengthening Christian civic participation in Israel. Raised and still living in Upper Nazareth, Shlayan belongs to the Aramean/Syriac Christian community, preserving the use of the Aramaic language and cultural traditions alongside his public and military service.

On October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorists launched a savage attack on southern Israel. 1200 were sadistically massacred, thousands more horrifically maimed, and 251 were viciously abducted as hostages back to Gaza.
Today, 615 days later, there remain 55 hostages in brutal captivity, 20 of whom are still assumed to be alive. Among them, 24-year-old Bipin Joshi, a Nepali agriculture student who risked his own life to save his friends from the terrorist onslaught on that Black Saturday.
A foreigner who had just arrived in Israel to learn agricultural techniques to bring home to Nepal, Bipin had absolutely nothing to do with the war or the Arab-Israeli conflict and had never even heard of Hamas. Hamas had utterly no reason to target Bipin, but they have not only held him, but have not provided a single sign of life in the 20 months since he was kidnapped.
Imagine how excruciating this has been for his family and friends. Truly, beyond comprehension and we all pray for Bipin's safe return, home to heal.

Bipin Joshi, a 23-year-old Nepali student, left home with dreams of a better future, leaving his country for the first time, and joining a “Learn and Earn” program on Kibbutz Alumim in Israel. On October 7, as Hamas terrorists stormed the kibbutz, Bipin and his friends hid in a bunker. When grenades were hurled in, Bipin risked his life—grabbing one and throwing it away to save others. Moments later, he was taken captive, his final message to his cousin a heartbreaking plea: “If something happens to me, take care of my family. Be strong.” His phone was later found in Gaza, but he vanished without a trace. Israeli officials believe he’s alive, but his condition remains unknown. Nepal’s top leaders are fighting for his release, while his family clings to hope, praying their son’s courage will bring him home.

In Psalm 118 Verse 22, it is stated, "The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone.”
That builder’s stone—the one in the corner, the base, the foundation—is so often forgotten and ignored, buried below the magnificent structure that towers above it.
But there’s only one problem: if you take away that stone, the entire edifice crumbles.

Hours after the diabolical Hamas attacks on Israel, the morning of October 7, 2023, Retired Lieutenant Colonel, Jonathan Conricus reported as a civilian volunteer for reserve duty and was appointed as an IDF Reserve International Spokesperson.

Ethnic Studies sounds like such a warm, fuzzy concept. I learn about you, you learn about me. We foster mutual respect, tolerance, and appreciation for our cultures, traditions, and histories.

What masquerades as a well-intentioned effort to promote co-existence and understanding within the great melting pot we call America, happens to have a very dark underbelly that not only excludes, but demonizes, one minority group.
The one group, in fact, that is the target of more hate crimes than any other, despite comprising only 2% of the American population.

CAMERA, the Committee for Accuracy in Middle East Reporting and Analysis shouldn't have to exist. Neither should a whole slew of watchdog organizations whose 24/7 mission is to monitor the relentless anti-Israel bias that plagues the media.
Once upon a time, media objectivity was the standard. Newspapers and broadcasts did something absolutely unheard of today: they just reported the news. Not from the perspective of the left, not from the right. No agenda. And with only one goal: to inform the public of facts.

The terrorists of Hamas have reportedly agreed to free all remaining Israeli-American hostages (Idan Alexander, Itay Chen, Omer Neutra, Gadi Haggai, and Judy Weinstein) in exchange for 30 more days of ceasefire and an undisclosed number of Hamas terrorists to be released from prison.
Obviously Donald Trump's threats are moving the needle on hostage negotiations. But is it moving enough???

For the past 17 years, David has been writing a weekly column in the Journal that earned him the “Best Columnist” award by the L.A. Press Club and first prize for Editorial writing by the American Jewish Press Association. Prior to journalism, David was founder and CEO of Suissa Miller Advertising, a marketing firm that was named Agency of the Year by USA Today. In 2005, he sold the company so he could dedicate himself full-time to the Jewish world. David was born in Morocco and grew up in Montreal, where he graduated from McGill University in 1978. He now lives with his family in a Jewish neighborhood of Los Angeles that reminds him a little of his old neighborhood in Casablanca.
