Switzerland is indeed a wine producing country, but since most of the production is consumed locally, Swiss wines are not widely exported to American retail shelves. At Beverage Trade Network’s international tasting event in Chicago we were pleased to meet Thor Thorvaldsson, who has set up distribution of Swiss wines from Neuchatel here in The USA. His Pinot Noir offering reflects peppery notes along with limestone minerality. Pinot Noir is a fragile grape that does not necessarily grow well in all regions, but the effects of climate change have allowed Neuchatel, which sits along the same latitude as Burgundy, to harvest these impressive 100% Pinot Noir selections. #winepodcast #swisswine #pinotnoir #switzerland #winelover
