Synopsis for our Captain America Brave New World 2025 Review

    Directed by - Julius Onah

Story by - Rob Edwards, Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson

Screenplay by - Rob Edwards, Malcolm Spellman, Dalan Musson, Julius Onah and Peter Glanz

After being diagnosed with a terminal heart condition, Cantankerous General Thaddeus Ross turns his life around and is announced as the new US president promising togetherness in the face of overwhelming challenges in the world.

Following the discovery of a brand new element, Adamantium, in the body of the Celestial, Tiamut, that still resides in the Indian Ocean, countries across the world are battling for control of the powerful material.

When the Serpent Society, a rogue special Ops group led by Sidewinder, steals a sample of Adamantium, President Ross sends Captain America to Oaxaca Mexico to retrieve the item. Backed up by his guy in the chair Joaquin Torres who wants to be the new Falcon, Cap recovers the items, but Sidewinder escapes.

If Torres is to be the new Falcon, Sam wants him to train with the best so he sets up a session with another super soldier Isaiah Bradley.

To thank them for their service, President Ross invites Sam and Joaquin to the White House. As recompense he asks for an invite for Isaiah too. But while Ross thanks the heroes a song begins to play triggering multiple attacks on the president. Isaiah is one of the shooters, he takes his shot and escapes the White House pursued by the secret service and President Ross’ private guard, former Black Widow Ruth Bat-Seraph.

But Sam reaches Isaiah first and calms him down. He soon realises he has no memory of the incident. But with the high profile attack Isaiah is imprisoned while the investigation takes place.

As Sam tries to clear his friend’s name, he and Joaquin learn there is one person behind everything who they must uncover. President Ross has a secret. Following Bruce Banner’s escape 16 years ago, Ross locked up his scientist contact Samuel Sterns forcing him to be his own personal think tank and create a cure for his illness.

But, imbued with supreme intelligence, Sterns has used his skills to plant commands in agents across the world. He created a statistically probable chain of events to get payback on President Ross.

When the Japanese government chooses to take the Adamantium for themselves, the US tries to intercept them. Stern’s manipulation almost leads the two countries to war until Captain America and Falcon convince them otherwise. But Falcon is injured in the crossfire.

As President Ross announces the new cooperation between Japan and the US, Sam learns that Stern’s real plan was to turn President Ross into a real monster. The life-saving pills he created to save Ross were infused with Gamma radiation which transforms the president into the aggressive Red Hulk.

Sam has to use all of his abilities to calm the monster inside Ross who finally gives himself up and is taken to The Raft prison where his estranged daughter Betty pays him a visit. With the true culprits in custody, Isaiah Brandley is rightfully freed and Samuel Sterns warns Sam of the impending arrival of Others who will destroy their world.

Meanwhile Sam decides Thaddeus Ross was right about the need for a new Avengers initiative. He officially recruits the recovering Joaquin Torres as the new Falcon as they set out to find their new team members.

Mark leaves without committing treason and makes it just in time for his date with Eve. But they are interrupted by time travelling brothers Fightmaster and Dropkick. They need Invincible’s help in the far future to overthrow the dictatorship of The King of the Earth.

Mark fights his way to the king and learns it is actually The Immortal who has been doing everything to get his attention. In his time Invincible left The Immortal in charge of earth but it’s been thousands of years and every single person Immortal has ever known is dead. He persuades Mark to finally put him out of his misery. With his obligation fulfilled Mark is brought back to his time.

In the Fifth Dimension, the Watcher stands trial before the other three Watchers— consisting of the Eminence, the Incarnate, and the Executioner— while Captain Peggy Carter leads a team consisting of Kahhori, a grown-up Byrdie, and Storm the Goddess of Thunder on stopping the multiversal incursions.

After preventing an inter-dimensional universe-eater from attacking Earth-625, Carter and her team notice the three shards of the Watcher's observatory, and resolve to go help him.

After their first attempts to synthesize the shards fail and cost them two shards, the group consider requesting help from a variant of Infinity Ultron, while also agreeing to use Time Variance Authority (TVA) equipment to prune him should he go rogue.

After a heart-to-heart with Storm, Carter resolves to meet with Infinity Ultron alone, only to be captured by the Eminence.

Noticing Carter went missing, Kahhori, Byrdie, and Storm confront Ultron, who reveals that he has realised there is no peace without life and concludes that he made a mistake in extinguishing all life in his universe. Though it is too late for redemption, he is willing to atone for his actions and absorbs the shard before agreeing to take them to rescue Carter and the Watcher.

In the 1860s, Xu Xialing fled to America for a better life only to fall victim to The Hood's plan to vilify Chinese immigrants in order to consolidate his power.

In 1872, Shang-Chi is searching for his sister alongside Kate Bishop, who wants revenge on the Hood for killing her family. They find a decimated township and meet a boy, Kwai Jun-Fan, who claims the Hood attacked and left on a ghost train.

Shang-Chi, Bishop, and Jun-Fan find and board the train, where they discover that the missing immigrants have been brainwashed by the Hood's enforcer Sonny Burch.

The Watcher helps Jun-Fan survive while Shang-Chi and Bishop are taken to the Hood, revealed to be a corrupted Xialing, who killed the original Hood and stole his powers.

Burch confesses to killing Bishop's parents and attempts to brainwash her, until Jun-Fan rings the bell, freeing the prisoners and allowing Kate to knock Burch out. Shang-Chi refuses to join or fight Xialing and Kate Bishop kills her.

Later, the pair observe Jun-Fan telling his heroic story to the other immigrants and they ride off into the sunset.

After the Earth was split apart by the Emergence, Quentin Beck overtook Stark Industries, creating an army of drones called the Iron Federation to subjugate the survivors.

In the present, Riri Williams is recruited by Wong, Okoye, Valkyrie, and Ying Nan to join their "Alliance". After defeating Beck's lieutenant Vision, Williams uses his components to become a human-synthezoid hybrid.

While the Alliance holds off the Federation, she infiltrates Beck's base to destroy the nanites powering his illusion. However, her suit fails and she loses the ability to see through Beck's illusions and is lured into a prison cell, where Beck explains that he uploaded the nanites into himself, meaning he can control illusions with his mind.

But the nanites are killing him, so he intends to merge with Vision to live longer. Williams breaks free, only to learn that her comrades are dead and everything since Vision's defeat has been an illusion.

The Watcher intervenes by encouraging Williams to fight back, so she siphons the nanites off Beck's body, killing him and destroying the Federation. Williams then projects the Avengers logo into the sky to give the survivors hope.

Elsewhere, three other Watchers are displeased by the Watcher's continued interference.

During Thor's party on Earth, Howard the Duck marries Darcy Lewis, and they have a baby that takes the form of an egg.

The couple is subsequently invited to the Grandmaster's intergalactic cruise, but he takes the egg and attempts to cook it for a breakfast before Yondu Udonta steals it.

As the couple gives chase, Nick Fury and Phil Coulson explain that because their child was born during a rare alignment of the Nine Realms called the Convergence, it is destined for great things and has become highly sought after by several factions.

On Knowhere, Yondu delivers the egg to Kaecilius who kills him and attempts to use it as a host body for Dormammu.

S.H.I.E.L.D. attacks, intending to contain the egg, though Howard and Darcy recover it and flee to Jotunheim to seek shelter from Loki.

However, Loki's father Laufey, the Dark Elf Malekith, the Olympian god Zeus, and Thanos and his Black Order are also after the egg, and a chase ensues.

As Howard and Darcy are cornered, the egg suddenly glows gold, rises into the sky and subdues the pursuers with golden energy. It hatches moments later into a human/duck hybrid which the parents name Byrdie.

Fury admits that the child should be with her parents and ceases the pursuit as the family return home in peace.

In 1991, Alexei Shostakov and Bucky Barnes are sent to recover a case of super-soldier serum from Howard and Maria Stark.

The Red Guardian prevents The Winter Soldier from killing them and they only acquire one vial of the serum.

With no extraction, the duo tracks a spy called “The Rook" to Las Vegas for alternative transportation while evading a police officer Ranger Morales and a S.H.I.E.L.D. unit led by Bill Foster.

Dreykov secretly orders Bucky to kill Alexei, who has become a liability. In Las Vegas, Shostakov and Barnes discover that the Rook is Obadiah Stane, who provided the Russians with information about the serum in order to eliminate the Starks from the market.

Stane attacks the duo, but is killed by Barnes. As the authorities and a task force sent by the Red Room swarm the area, Barnes buys Alexei time to escape, who destroys the last vial of the serum.

Some time later, Barnes is taken back to Hydra's base in Siberia, where he insists to Dreykov that The Red Guardian is dead.

In the golden era of cinema, attention loving witch Agatha Harkness moves to Hollywoodland for her latest play. She wants the power of Tiamut, the Celestial being buried in the core of the Earth, but she needs Hollywood’s production values. While starring in a picture directed by Howard Stark, Agatha plans to use a magic ritual to access Tiamut and take its power for herself.

But even with the stolen power of many of the Eternals, Agatha’s ritual fails. She has one last chance, as she invites Bollywood’s hottest star, Kingo, to co-star with her in the picture. Agatha knows he’s the final Eternal and will use the opportunity to steal his power and complete her ritual.

After a Hollywood vs Bollywood movie showdown, Kingo reveals he knows what Agatha wants but is convinced to help her when Agatha says she’s doing it to save the world.

They convince Howard and his put-upon assistant Edwin Jarvis to restage the finale of the picture at the Griffith Observatory. Agatha succeeds in taking the power of Tiamut, but her actions draw the attention of the Prime Celestial, Arishem. He comes to earth from across the galaxy to confront Agatha but with her enormous power the now celestial Witch absorbs his power and kills him too.

Agatha reveals her true intention was to take all of the power for herself. But Kingo convinces her that the true way to change the world is to make movies and gain the adoration she seeks from her adoring public. Agatha relents and attends the premiere of their completed picture “Cosmic Queen”.

But as the Watcher closes out his tale three more Celestials are on their approach to locate Agatha Harkness. Who doesn’t like cliff-hangers?

When Sam Wilson meets a broken Bruce Banner he tries to help him control the monster inside him, through his counseling sessions with war veterans. But on a fishing trip with Sam and his sister Sarah, Bruce loses control and the hulk is released.

Fleeing from the ship and his friend Sam, Banner, partially inspired by his friend Sam but also his own loathing of the Hulk, tries to separate the beast from his human self but inadvertently creates an Apex gamma beast hellbent on destruction.

The Avengers, Steve Rogers, Thor, Tony Stark, Clint Barton and Natasha Romanov create giant Hulk Busters to beat their enemy but they are lost in the battle. Their loss inspired the surviving heroes to win the first Gamma War.

10 years later the Apex rises again. Stronger, more powerful and with 1000s of gamma beasts that are now an organised invasion force.

Sam Wilson, now the leader of a new Avengers team including Nakia, Moon Knight, the Red Guardian, Melina Vostkoff, Bucky Barnes, Shang-Chi and Monica Rambeau enlists his old friend Banner’s help to win the fight when their Mechs fail.

Bruce creates a programme for a Mech-Avenger, combining all the other Mechs into one supreme robot.

Based on characters created by Bill Finger and Bob Kane for Detective Comics.

Spinning out of Matt Reeves The Batman under showrunner Lauren LeFranc

    Episode Written by: Lauren LeFranc

    Episode Directed By: Jennifer Getzinger

At the former Monroe Jazz club, Sofia Gigante uses Dr Julian Rush’s experience to take Francis Cobb back to her youth. She recalls meeting with local gangster Rex Callibrasi to discuss her son Oz. She always knew that Oz was the one who killed her other sons Jack and Benny. But despite being given every opportunity Oz never took responsibility for their murders. Rex gives the struggling mother two options. Either nurture Oz’s tendencies, give him purpose, and he could be something great or Rex will help her let him go.

Planning to have Rex murder Oz, she takes him out to Monroe’s for one final night. But as Oz promises to take care of her if she’ll give him a chance, Francis calls off the kill.

In the present day, Sofia uses this knowledge to encourage Oz to finally admit to murdering his brothers. But, even with the threat of Francis losing a finger, Oz continues his lies. Incensed, Francis disowns him and stabs him with a broken bottle. But Francis has a stroke and falls to the ground.

Using this as a distraction, Oz breaks free, killing Sofia’s guards and GCPD Detective Marcus Wise before driving his ma to the hospital.

Meanwhile Victor Aguillar fails to convince the leaders of the other gangs of Gotham to help Crown Point following Sofia’s car bomb. Oz Cobb calls him to the hospital where Victor convinces him that he’s important to the city.

Oz makes a final play. He meets with Councilman Hady at City Hall telling him the car bomb was just the latest in the tit for tat battle between the Falcone and Maroni family. If the Councilman brings in Sofia Gigante the city will be very grateful. All he wants in return is the ear of the influential people of Gotham.

Elsewhere, Sofia has decided to leave everything behind so she offers the gang leaders the Falcone’s home, territories and business to the one who brings her Oz Cobb.

The Triad’s second in command, Ling, uses his relationship with Victor to get to Oz. As Sofia is burning her past she arranges for Oz’s transfer at another location. But it’s a trap. Spurred on by Oz and Victor, Ling turns on his boss Mr Zhao, killing him. As Oz captures Sofia and turns her over to the GCPD, the tide of Gotham’s underworld changes. All the bosses are taken out by their disrespected underbosses and followers.

Oz takes Victor back to the hospital to celebrate his final success with Francis. But he learns that her stroke has left her immobile and non-verbal. Unable to get the approval he sought from his mother, Victor commiserates with Oz. Realising his closeness with the kid has become truly familial, Oz strangles and kills him. Disposing of his ID in Gotham bay and his last shred of weakness.

Sofia is unresponsive as she sits in a cell in Arkham, once again under the care of Dr Julian Rush. He brings her a letter from someone claiming to be her half sister, someone called Selina Kyle.

Now the king of Gotham’s underworld, Oz finally sets the vegetative Francis up in a penthouse overlooking the city. As a tear rolls down her face, Oz dances with Eve. She’s dressed as his Ma and tells Oz how proud she is of him. He believes there’s nothing left to stop him as, unseen by Oz, the Bat Signal rises over Gotham.
