The terrible wildfires raging across California at the moment are truly awful news, for human and non-human animals alike. One tiny kernel of positivity amidst the horror however is the actions of plant-based pop-up Vurger Guyz, who have provided over a thousand plant-based meals to some of those affected by the tragedy, as well as receiving support from actor Tabitha Borwn, and plant-based giants, Beyond Meat. As well as this story, Carlos & Anthony look at ten stories from the vegan & animal rights space from the last week or so.

If you're reading this, we're probably preaching to the choir. But really, you do have to be so careful to read beyond the headline! South Lakes Zoo may have closed, but the animals who were subject to horrific treatment, seem to be no better off, as this week we learn how they will be rehomed. In this episode, Julie, Kate & Anthony look at this, plus another eight stories from the vegan & animal rights space from the last couple of weeks.

Recently the Vegan Society have come out with a strong statement, declaring that "cultured meat is not vegan, nor will it ever be". Is this absolute statement necessary to protect the integrity of the animal rights message, or could a bit more pragmatism be applied here? The latest social media trend this week has been pouring away your milk. Why? It's a result of Dairy giant Arla's use of the controversial Bovear compound, which is said to reduce methane emissions in cattle by 30-45%. Is this a problem, regarding the green-washing oversight of animal rights issues (as well as ignoring the other 55-70% of emissions), or could this be part of a longer-term victory for animals? Julie & Anthony discuss this, as well as a handful of other news stories from the week in the vegan & animal rights space.

In this episode, Julie, Dominic, Mark & Anthony read & discuss correspondence that has been sent into us through [email protected]. Here's what we chew over?
* Should vegans critique one another's activism?
* Should you say 'no' when asked to use a clubcard to reduce the price of someone else's meaty shopping?
* How can deaf listeners enjoy Enough of the Falafel?
* What win-win Christmas presents do the panel suggest?

It's been the evocative centre of selling animal flesh in the UK capital for around 850 years, but this week it was announced that come 2028, Smithfield Meat Market will close for good. But with individual businesses being compensated, and indeed supported to make things work in new locations, will this improve outcomes for animals? Richard & Anthony disucss this, as well as a handful of other news stories from the week in the vegan & animal rights space.

On our Vegan Week show over the last 12 months or so, we've reported several times about councils pledging to 'go plant-based' for their internal meetings and events. It's huge news that really packs a punch with its headline, nut what's behind this trend? In this episode Ant speaks to Julie, who is now actively involved with the Plant Based Councils campaign, and learns more about the campaign and how we can get involved.

This week the co-founder of Veganuary and VFC, Matthew Glover very publicly threw his hat into the ring to become the new CEO at the RSPCA. Mark, Julie, Dominic & Anthony ponder whether Glover really wants the job, as well as discussing a dozen other stories from the vegan & animal rights space from the last week or so.
