In this episode, we dive deep into fearâhow it holds us back, why it feels so real, and most importantly, how to push through it. Fear isn't a stop sign; it's a green light. Expect truth bombs, science-backed insights, and powerful mindset shifts that will change the way you think about health, weight, and self-worth. Plus, I share 15 journal prompts to help you shift your perspective and take empowered action!

3ď¸âŁ âTelling someone to lose weight to manage their diabetes is like telling them to whiten their teeth to cure lung cancer. It completely misses the point.â
4ď¸âŁ âWeight is not the ultimate indicator of health. You can pursue health without being fixated on a number on the scale.â

In this episode of The Body Love Binge, we dive deep into the fundamental truth that recovery from anorexia, bulimia, and binge eating follows the same core process. While the behaviors of these disorders may differ, the root cause and the path to healing remain the sameâunrestricted eating, emotional regulation, and reconnecting with self-love.
We explore:
Why restriction (physical or mental) is at the core of all eating disorders. The Migration Theory of Anorexiaâhow biological survival mechanisms influence restriction and hyperactivity. Why the fear of weight gain is one of the biggest blocks to recoveryâand how to work through it.The difference between true binge eating disorder and reactive binging (and why most binge eating is actually a response to past restriction). How to embrace full food freedom and trust your bodyâs natural set point. The deep emotional work needed beyond just eating enoughâself-worth, identity shifts, and nervous system regulation. If youâre struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating, this episode is for you.

Powerful Quotes from the Episode:
1ď¸âŁ "Recovery from any eating disorderâanorexia, bulimia, or binge eatingâis the same process: unrestricted eating, tuning into your body, emotionally regulating, and returning to self-love."
2ď¸âŁ "Restriction is the root of all eating disorders. The behavior may look different, but the cycle is always the sameâcontrol, deprivation, and fear of letting go."
3ď¸âŁ "Your body is not broken. It is simply responding to starvation, whether thatâs physical restriction, mental food rules, or fear-based control."
4ď¸âŁ "The fear of weight gain is not really about weightâitâs about self-worth, identity, and the stories weâve been told about our value."
5ď¸âŁ "The more we resist food, the more power we give it. Full permission is the only way to truly heal your relationship with eating."
6ď¸âŁ "Starvation can trigger the ancient survival instinct to migrate. Anorexia isn't about willpowerâitâs a biological response gone wrong."
7ď¸âŁ "The difference between binge eating and reactive binging? If youâve ever restricted, your binges are a survival response, not a disorder."
8ď¸âŁ "Recovery is about trust. Trusting your body, trusting your hunger, and trusting that food is not the enemyâcontrol is."
9ď¸âŁ "Pleasure and rest are not things you need to earn. If youâve been stuck in an eating disorder, your relationship with joy and relaxation needs healing, too."
đ "You cannot skip to balanced eating while fearing weight gain. You must lean into full permission firstâthen your body will find its balance naturally."

Hey loves, hereâs what todayâs episode is all aboutâŚ
Iâm sitting here in my kitchen, little Koa on my boob (boobalicious, as I like to call it), needing a wee and feeling a bit hungry, but I thoughtâbefore I disturb her peaceful little napâIâll record this episode. Because a question came up in my group coaching that I really wanted to talk about.
Jan, one of my coaching clients, listened to my birth story episode and said something I mentioned really stood out to her. I had said that recovering from my eating disorder was harder than giving birth naturally, unmedicated, at home. She wanted me to elaborate on why.
So today, Iâm breaking it all down: why, despite the intensity of labor, recovery was the harder journey for meâand what that means for you if youâre still in the thick of it. Iâll share the deep identity shifts, the surrender, the trust, the fears, and the choice that comes with recovery in a way that birth simply didnât. Because hereâs the thing: giving birth was inevitable. Recovery wasnât.
If youâve ever felt like recovery is an impossible battle, this episode is for you. Because while recovery is hard, itâs also temporary. Just like labor. And on the other side? Freedom.
What I Talk About in This Episode:
Why recovery was harder than giving birth (even though birth was incredibly painful) The key role of surrender and trust in both birth and healing The identity crisis I went through in recovery (and why it was actually a good thing!) Why birth is inevitable, but recovery is a choiceâover and over again How letting go of control was the hardest (but most necessary) part of healing The importance of reframing beliefs every single day Why gaining weight was actually gaining life The three core values that guided me through both birth and recoverySome of My Favorite Quotes From This Episode:
"Recovery is temporary, just like birthâbut instead of hours, itâs an extended period of temporary shit and pain." "I knew my body would birth my baby whether I liked it or not. Recovery, though? That was a choice I had to make over and over again." "Restriction is the quick fix. Freedom is the real work." "Beyond fear lies freedomâbut you have to walk through the fear to get there." "My body is so much wiser than my mind ever wasâwhether in birth or in healing." "Surrender isnât weakness. Itâs the most powerful thing you can do." "I had to let go of the identity that was keeping me safeâbut also keeping me stuck." "Gaining weight wasnât losing control. It was gaining my life back." "Recovery demands you rewire your beliefs every single day, not just once." "You canât wait until you feel ready. You take the leap, and your feelings catch up later."Letâs Connect:

Hey Queens! In this episode, Iâm talking about a question I get asked all the time: âWhat the f**k do I actually eat when I stop restricting?â
Itâs inspired by a lovely listener, Hedi, and so many of you whoâve shared the same struggle. Iâm here to reassure you that, yes, it can feel paralyzing when you finally drop all your food rulesâbut thereâs freedom on the other side.
Eat Whatever the Fk You Want**
Youâve let go of restriction, so the world of food can suddenly feel huge and overwhelming. Thereâs no âwrongâ way to reintroduce foodsâgive yourself permission to honor what you truly want. If youâre not sure what you want, try checking in with your inner child or imagine youâre no longer afraid of any foodâthen see what comes up.No Food Is Off-Limits
Let go of the idea that certain foods are âbad.â Every food has its place. You donât need to earn your food or feel guilty. Guilt only shows up when you believe youâve done something wrong, so unlearn all that diet-culture BS.Follow Your HungerâEven If Youâre Not Hungry
Start by eating however much your body asks for, without counting portions or calculating macros. If youâve been restricting for years, your hunger cues may be all over the place. Eating at regular intervalsâeven when youâre not physically starvingâis part of rebuilding trust with your body.Challenge Safe Foods
Relying only on âsafeâ foods keeps you in a restrictive mindset. Pick one food that scares youâlike pasta or chocolateâand give it a try. Discomfort is normal; itâs also where the magic of freedom happens.Take Inspiration from Free Eaters
If you feel lost about ânormalâ eating, look to someone with a truly non-restrictive, intuitive style. I shared a sample day where breakfast could be toast with peanut butter, a mid-morning donut if desired, a satisfying lunch, an afternoon snack, and a flexible dinnerâwithout overthinking or planning.Enjoy Your Food
After years of fear, let yourself rediscover pleasure in eating. Savor the flavors, eat slowly if it feels good, and notice how each bite tastes without shame or guilt.Iâve been where you are, terrified and convinced âgoing all inâ meant Iâd lose control forever. But by trusting my body, I now eat a naturally balanced diet without obsessingâchocolate is just chocolate, not a forbidden treat I canât stop thinking about.
It might feel messy and chaotic at first, but it gets easier. Unconditional permission to eat is the path to true food freedom.
Eat anything and everything your body craves, and keep reminding yourself: you canât do this wrong.
This episode is all about letting go of rules and letting your body guide you. Youâll find your equilibrium as you practice.
If you enjoyed this and found it helpful, Iâd love your support! Please leave a five-star rating on your podcast app, subscribe, and share with a friendâor hit âlikeâ and âsubscribeâ on YouTube if youâre watching there.

"I'm the coach, but I'm also not the coach...when we just live life, we just live life." [01:21:37]
"Everything in life is bullshit. So why would we be living in the story which is hurting us, disempowering us, making us weak?" [01:34:39]

In this podcast episode, Victoria Kleinsman talks about overcoming the fear of weight gain. She shares her personal struggles with this fear and offers practical tips on how we can move past it to live fuller, happier lives.
Main discussion points:
- Weight gain is often seen as a marker of personal failure in society. This breeds deep fears in many people (Victoria shares that she'd rather have died than gain weight).
- The fear manifests in behaviours like chronic dieting, bingeing-purging cycles, obsessive weighing, etc. But these approaches rarely work long-term.
- Fear of weight gain is not innate; it's learned. It links to deeper fears of being unloved and rejected.
- The fear can become self-fulfilling - stress promotes fat storage. Fear of weight gain causes stress leading to actual weight gain.
- Shift focus to self-care habits that gradually diffuse the fear - pursuing passions, spending time with body-positive people, speaking kindly to yourself.
- Understand that you can live happily at many weights. Chasing thinness often sacrifices what truly matters - intimacy, meaning, fulfillment.
Key quotes:
"I would rather have died than gain weight." [00:01:39]
"We think we'll be better when we're thinner. It's time to claim back your worthiness, my love." [00:08:30]
"Thinness is not an innate human need. Love and acceptance is." [00:25:22]

Welcome back to the podcast, queens! Today, I have a great guest joining us, Robyn Shumer. Robyn wears many hats: sheâs a leadership development facilitator at Johnson & Johnson, a TEDx speaker, a yoga teacher, an executive coach, a mental health advocate, and even a working mom. Robyn is truly dedicated to helping others share their personal and professional stories with impact, all while managing her own journey of self-love and mental wellness.
Robyn is also the author of *Bones: Anorexia, Anxiety, and My Path to Self-Love*, her powerful memoir where she dives deep into her story of healing and transformation. She believes in the power of sharing our most vulnerable stories and even says that preparing for her TEDx talk was more impactful than years of therapy.
In todayâs conversation, weâre exploring some powerful themes: the pivotal moments in Robynâs own recovery, the inspiration behind her mantra, âDonât be afraid to share the stories that shaped you,â and her thoughts on how our cultureâs view of bodies has evolved since her own experience growing up in the 1980s. Weâll also hear about her initiative, *Whatâs Your Story, USA*, and her advice for those of us who want to share our stories but may feel hesitant.
Robynâs insights on storytelling, healing, and mental health are sure to resonate, so letâs dive in!
