  • Interview with Kim Kimble

    Kim Kimble is a highly sought-after hairstylist in the beauty world with over 30 years of experience in the industry. With both her mother and grandmother being hairstylists, Kim was exposed at an early age. Although she initially aspired to be a fashion designer, Kim’s path switched when she discovered the artistry and creative potential involved in hairstyling. 

    With limited funds for tuition, Kim demonstrated her hustle and determination by taking on hairdressing gigs on the side to support herself through beauty school. This early start in the industry was a testament to her drive and commitment, laying the foundation for her future success. 

    Kim has made a massive name for herself within the industry. Styling icons like Beyonce, Halle Berry, Shakira, and Rihanna, Zenday–a, Gabrielle Union, and the Williams sisters not to mention, she has worked on Hollywood hits such as “B.A.P.S”, Cinderella, The Jamie Foxx Show, Austin Powers, Euphoria, Challengers and SO MUCH MORE.

    Interview with Brendnetta Ashley

    Brendnetta Ashley is an esteemed hairstylist, recognized for her expertise in all hair types and bold, creative techniques.     Brendnetta showcased her creativity and talent in the “Up Your Hair Game” campaign with Venus Williams, where she created two distinct wig looks: the “Blond Bombshell” and the “Lived in Brunette.” Her innovative approach and unique styling skills were evident in each of  Williams' looks.

    As a Black beauty professional, Brendnetta views her role as one that embraces all hair types, understands cultural roots, and celebrates the beauty inherent in every style. She advocates for texture education to be a standard part of hairstyle training, not just a specialty area. Through her work, Brendnetta is not only pursuing her love for hairstyling but also making a meaningful impact in the industry.

    Interview with Nicky Clarke

    Nicky Clarke is a highly acclaimed British hairstylist and brand founder, known for his skills and creativity, which have propelled him to become a sought-after name in the industry. Nicky discovered his talent for hairstyling at a young age. At 16, he seized an opportunity to apprentice at the prestigious House of Leonard where he  worked alongside the renowned John Frieda. By 17, he was already lending his skills to his first British Vogue shoot.

    For over a decade, Nicky worked with John Frieda, splitting his time between the salon and shoots for major publications all the while helping to develop  the Frizz Ease brand.  During this time, Nicky became one of the most in-demand and highest-paid hairdressers in the UK, creating iconic looks for stars such as Duran Duran, Brooke Shields, and Diana Ross.

    In the early '90s, the Nicky Clarke brand emerged from a partnership with Nicky's then-wife Lesley, herself an international fashion designer. 

    Together, they opened the first Nicky Clarke salon in London's prestigious Mayfair district, with the Duchess of York presiding over the ribbon-cutting ceremony. The salon became the place to be for those seeking the best of haircuts, coloring, styling, and treatments. 

    Its success cemented Nicky's status as a premier hairstylist and elevated him to a household name in the UK. His clientele is a star-studded lineup including royalty, supermodels, pop icons, and A-list celebrities, counting Princess Diana, David Bowie, the Beatles (Paul, George and Ringo), Gwyneth Paltrow, Sienna Miller, Brad Pitt, Eddie Redmayne, Kate Moss, Christian Bale, Naomi Campbell, Penelope Cruz, George Michael, Isabella Rossellini and, Donatella Versace among his past and current Clients.

    His artistic vision has graced the runways of Givenchy, Versace, Calvin Klein, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, and numerous others.  He’s won countless awards throughout his career and impressively, in 2008, Her Majesty the Queen honored him with the Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (OBE) in acknowledgment of his significant contributions to the hairdressing industry and outstanding service to the community.

    Interview with Nathalie Moore

    Nathalie Moore joined Dyson in 2016 as a Prototyping Apprentice before earning a place in the pioneering cohort of the Dyson Institute of Engineering. During this time, she studied for an Electromechanical engineering degree and has worked across 11 different Dyson teams.

    In the last year, she has developed the hair inclusivity strategy for haircare and is now returning to upstream engineering to implement her learnings into meaningful design and product development. This involves a balanced understanding of product development, hair science and consumer behaviors, to enhance product portfolio and delivery. Ensuring the delivery of “All styles. All hair types. Less Damage.”

    Before Dyson, Nathalie was in the pioneering cohort for King’s Maths School, a maths specialist school set up by Kings College London University. In her spare time, Nathalie extends her creativity to reworking clothes and silversmithing to express her individuality- much like her Gen-Z peers. In her future career in hair care, she hopes to continue pioneering and building inclusivity globally.

    Interview with Shallynn Johnston

Quickly identifying with hair color Shallynn joined AVEDA in 2004 where she held many roles including educator and creative director all while mentoring future industry professionals.
