In this episode, we set out to understand more about the roll-out of 5G technologies, both in the UK and globally. Some experts believe 5G will usher in the Fourth Industrial Revolution-- a movement Forbes says will generate close to 1$ trillion in economic value by 2025.
For consumers, 5G is promising lightning-fast speeds, up to 100 times faster than 4G, incredibly low latency, which could make the dream of driverless cars a reality, and capacity to carry massive numbers of connections simultaneously
For telecoms companies, especially in the EU, 5G presents an opportunity to seriously rally their stock market after what the Financial Times called “a damaging decade-long price war over mobile data during the 4G era.”
The UK government is putting a strong emphasis on 5G. Phillip Hammond, Chancellor of the Exchequer, has said he wants the UK to become a “world leader” in 5G. The government also published a 70-page manifesto on its future 5G strategy and committed to devoting up to £16 million of the budget to running 5G trials.
We would like to thank our wonderful panel of guests: Benjamin Rhatigan, expert on the Industrial Internet of Things; Ian Fishwick, founder of AIM-listed
Follow Anna Tobin, Forbes contributor on European media and technology; and Mark Stansfeld, Chair of the Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, currently overseeing one of Britain’s first official 5G factory rollouts.

Economic dimensions will, according to the report, take over 200 years to close. In this episode, we look at the integration and development of artificial intelligence (AI) into medical technologies, or as the sector is commonly referred to: Medtech.
Countries today are racing to be the global leader in AI. Just earlier this month, President Donald Trump signed the “American A.I. Initiative,” an executive order meant to stimulate the development and regulation of artificial intelligence. Last year in the UK, Prime Minister Theresa May announced a plan to revolutionize how chronic diseases are diagnosed in the country by significantly increasing the use of data and AI.
With AI technology growing ever more sophisticated and governments leaning into its use in healthcare, investment in the sector seems likely to grow. However, there are more reservations about data privacy and concerns over implementation when it comes to incorporating AI in healthcare practices.
So, we turned to healthcare experts to help guide us through the opportunities, challenges, and serious investment opportunity that AI in Medtech presents.
We would like to extend a massive thank you to our amazing guests: Dr. Robert Pearl, author of Washington Post bestseller 'Mistreated'; Dr. Jenny Barnett, Chief Scientific Officer of Cambridge Cognition; and Ariel Beery, CEO of MobileODT.
