This week Josh Munro is back with another early 80s movie that Travis hadn't heard of before. Looker stars Albert Finney, James Coburn, and Susan Dey, and is written and directed by Michael Crichton. Larry (Albert Finney) is a plastic surgeon who finds out that several of his patients have recently died in horrible accidents. He learns that they were all involved with Digital Matrix, and discovers a plot by the companies founder to frame him for the deaths. Set in 1931, Mike Sullivan works for the local mobster, but when his son Michael Jr stows away on one of his "errands" and witnesses a shootout, they become entangled in a plot to kill them both by the Mobsters son, Connor. Tom Hanks stars along with Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Tyler Hoechlin in one of his earliest roles. So, is this one of the best adaptations of a comic/graphic novel out there? Travis hadn't even heard of this movie before it was brought up, so this is a brand new experience. It's set in 1918, when a couple of young children from London move in to a new house on an old and presumeably haunted estate in the countryside. When they meet the ghosts of Sara and Georgy they learn that they are not dead. At least, not yet. But also, that they will be. It's time travel, ghost story, and a lot of heart.
