  • There is a ton of glamorization when it comes to having a “team” in the online business world. Having employees can be a badge of honor, but is hiring the right fit for you??

In this episode, we share our thoughts on keeping our “team” small and not going down the path of hiring more people. We’re not saying hiring people is bad, but for us, managing people and the stress that comes along with it is not worth it at this time in our businesses.

We DO have a few freelancers we work with on an ongoing basis. It’s a very low-stress and minimal interaction relationship with those people, which feels nice and calm. We’ve experienced having a bigger team before and it was stressssssful 😂.

If you’re thinking about growing your team or hiring freelancers, we hope this episode gives you some food (💩🥪👀) for thought!

  • After spending many years with an unfocused audience and nebulous problem we solve, we *THINK* we’ve finally landed on the right answer for our core business…. maybe?

One thing we know for sure, we’ve always operated Wandering Aimfully as generalists. We can help with email marketing, copywriting, branding, etc. Sure, we were always trying to help small business owners who care about being intentional, but that was very unclear and made our lives difficult when it came to positioning ourselves and our core product.

In this episode, we share our NEW content focus, which also presented a more niched-down audience focus too. We hope that hearing us talking it out in real-time can help you to better focus your core audience or problem your business solves.

Lots of (fun) changes coming to our Wandering Aimfully website and content very soon!

  • Last week, we shared a plan of action from an SEO Expert we paid. It included writing articles, competitor pages, and a user-generated content strategy. How did we do with that plan? Tune in to find out!

Writing informative articles is not our favorite thing, BUT, after working on the task for a week we feel like we found a good groove. In this episode, we share the process and the tools that made the writing process much simpler.

We also go over our competitor page strategy and how we used Framer to make the job easier for us.

  • Are SEO articles even relevant in 2024?? Well, we paid an SEO strategist to give us the answer and we’re going to share their plan of action in this episode.

The report we got back from an SEO Strategist does confirm that keyword-based articles are still working in 2024, especially for SaaS companies like Teachery. From the report, we have a 3-pronged plan of action to take.

Listen as we share that 3-pronged plan and feel free to steal a few ideas based on what we’re going to be working on as our 5-week content extravaganza continues!

And, we WILL be creating SEO-friendly articles for Wandering Aimfully in an upcoming week as well, so stay tuned to hear about that if you run a knowledge-based digital product business.

  • The second week of our 5-week content extravaganza has concluded! We worked on long-form videos for Teachery and learned a ton of lessons (and had to UN-LEARN some well-worn ideas and habits too).

There has been ONE clear friction point for us over the years when working together and that’s... Long-form videos. It’s some combination of our two strong creative personalities, along with having different visions for how a video should turn out, and the entire process has always been a bit bumpy for us. But, we really hoped to change that this last week!

Through many conversations, many experiments, and just trying to lead with curiosity we feel like we came out of the week WAYYYYY better than expected. Sure, we only finished 2 long-form videos, but our goal was 3, so we’re happy about that.

Enjoy listening to us recap our experience and we hope it helps you re-think a current spot where you might be in your business.

  • Our 5-week content EXTRAVAGANZA is underway! We recap how our first week of creating short-form 60-second vertical videos went and give you a preview of what’s to come this week as we pivot to long-form YouTube content for Teachery.

If you didn’t listen to last week’s episode, we’re embarking on a 5-week content journey to get back into the groove of posting content to grow our audiences for Teachery and Wandering Aimfully (publishing starts in 1 month).

We set a goal of creating 10 short-form videos last week and we ended up with… 6! We’re actually happy with that result because we’re very new to short-form video creation and have been on a 3-year break from any short-form content creation 🥶. There were a ton of lessons learned, mistakes made, and a hilarious “first pancake” moment 🥞.

For this next week, we’re shifting our focus to long-form (10-15 minute) YouTube videos for Teachery. We talk through our plans live as we recorded this since it was a last-minute shift from working on articles.

  • Here we go, folks! We’re back on the short-form video creation train and this week we’re sharing our plan of action for Teachery. We’ve been off social media for 2.5 years, so this is quite the journey!

If you missed last week’s episode, we’re embarking on a 5-week content extravaganza 😂 for our two businesses. This week is the official first week and we’re focusing solely on trying to create 10 pieces of 60-second video content to be shared on Teachery’s TikTok, YouTube, and IG account.

What does creating social content initially feel like? Who is doing what? What content keywords and strategies are we focusing on? All of that is tackled in this episode.

Important note: We are NOT posting this content just yet. We want to create a nice little backlog of content to have ready to post in a month-ish. We also want to get a feel for what the creation process is like and what formats/formulas of content work best for our skillsets.

Next week, we’ll update you with how this week went and then we’ll move on to the next content bucket.

  • Bring on the 5-week content EXTRAVAGANZAAAA! We are getting back in the content creation saddle for the first time in almost 3 years. We’ve only been creating “nurture” content for the entirety of our WAIM business and that’s about to change!

This week, we’re kicking off a big content creation project for both WAIM and Teachery. Now, Teachery is a bit easier because it’s has NEVER had content created for it (not a single article, social post, etc). But, before we just start creating content willy-nilly, we wanted to come up with a framework to make sure we’re creating the right content for the right purpose. Is our content just nurturing an existing audience? Or is our content discoverable and helping us grow our audience?

Enter our… Content Salad MATRIX. We cover the two different formats of content (Long and Short) and the two different types of content (Find and Nurture). From there, we share our plan for the next 5 weeks and what type of content goes where.

We’ll fully acknowledge there is a lot to unpack in this episode and that we are embarking on a big content project, but hey, wouldn’t it be boring if we didn’t swing for the fences a bit??

    Hope you enjoy it!

  • We LOVE a launch recap episode! And as two people who value transparency and honesty in the online business world, we hope you appreciate this one because our latest launch (Spring 2024) didn’t quite hit the mark.

Now, we want to be 100% clear: We are not upset by a 6-figure launch. There is nothing to complain about or shed a tear about. However, there is a reality to reaching a certain level of revenue with our launches and then not hitting that same level after raising our price (for the first time in 5 years).

We hope you get a few takeaways from this episode if you’ve had a lackluster launch and see it the same way we do; as an opportunity to improve and create a new baseline for the future!

  • We’ve been working together in some capacity for almost 15 years! In that time, we’ve learned how to communicate, navigate each other’s emotions, but we still run into difficult moments like we did this week.

In this episode, we want to share our experience as a couple who works together (on two businesses!) but also how you can apply some of our lessons to running your own business, whether you have a partner or work with freelancers (or just on your own!)

We’re going to talk about the importance of having more discussions that you think you need, how to navigate perfectionism (over and over again), communicating during rough patches, and recommitting to your values.

  • What do you do when you have a TON of ideas and all of them feel like they need your attention? How do you sort them, prioritize them, and schedule them?

Thanks to listener Leah W. for submitting this week’s podcast topic! This is a timely one for us as of recording because we’re overflowing with ideas for our two businesses (Teachery and Wandering Aimfully). So what do we do? Well, that’s what we discuss in this ep! We’ll cover our signature “Big Ass List™” and then go through the steps to get your ideas out of your head and planned on your calendar to get done in a methodical way.

How do you know you’re on the cusp of burning out? There are clear signals we’ve noticed: neglecting texts, rushing through moments, feeling unfulfilled despite productivity, brushing only half your teeth 😂, and struggling to find stillness.

  • For the last 5 years we’ve run a paid coaching program that includes a community. During that time, we’ve learned a lot about what works and doesn’t work and thought we’d break down in this episode.

We go over 4 crucial parts: The Audience, The Offer, The Community, and The Launches.

Not only do we share what has worked for us in each of those four categories, but we also share some ideas if we were to start over from the beginning. How would we build an audience from nothing? Would we still lean on email marketing? How would we facilitate a thriving community? And what would our sales and launch strategy be?

All of those questions and more covered this week! We hope you enjoy this chat and if you know anyone looking to start a paid coaching program or community, pass this episode on to them!

  • Is lifetime pricing better than an ongoing membership model? What about individual course launches? And what if you only sell a $97 product? We go over all our thoughts on our lifetime pricing model in this episode and answer listener (and customer) questions!

There is no perfect way to make money with online business, but from our experience, using a lifetime pricing model to sell an online coaching program (WAIM Unlimited) OR a software product (Teachery) is a fantastic option that reduces stress, puts less overall pressure on sales and marketing, and creates a stronger connection with your customers.

Early on, we ran our WAIM Unlimited program as a membership and saw a monthly churn of 30% — which is NOT good 🥵. After a slight positioning pivot and rebrand of the offer to a Lifetime Program, our churn immediately dropped to ~3% and felt way more predictable and a win-win for us and our members.

Lifetime pricing isn’t for every business, but in this ep we share all our thoughts, lessons learned, challenges, and reasons we love it.
