  • Recently, I was having a conversation with another woman lawyer about marketing options for small law firms, and she shared with me that she did not like seeing herself on video, so it was hard to imagine she would create reels on Instagram or videos for TikTok.

I totally understood! I do not love either seeing myself on video or hearing my recorded voice. And I know we are not alone. It comes up frequently in conversations with other women law firm owners of a certain age!

In this culture where women appear to be valued for youth and beauty, it takes confidence and strong self-esteem to put yourself out there if you think you have passed some kind of imaginary expiration date.

Comparison-it is on social media is not reserved just for people in their teens and 20s. Even those of us with lots of emotional management tools in our toolboxes can get caught up in comparing ourselves and our lives with what we see in our social feeds.

I can tell you all day, every day, that other people are not judging you nearly as hard as you judge yourself, but if you hate being on video, you likely will not really care.

So, I wanted to reassure you that there are other options for marketing your law firm besides becoming an Instagram or TikTok influencer. You don’t have to dance for your supper if the mere thought makes you feel a little sick.

Listen in to hear about five marketing tactics you can start using today to grow your law firm business.

  • You’d think by now after being an attorney and business owner for almost two decades, I would know what I’m about to share with you today. But the one thing I know about life as an entrepreneur and business owner is that there are ALWAYS lessons to be learned. As Abraham Hicks says: “You will never get it done, and you can never get it wrong.”

Why? Because, as human beings, we are always receiving new information and transforming how we think and behave based on that information—yes, even those of us we wouldn’t think ever change are always changing.

Listen in as I share the ah-ha moment I had this week. It surprised me and it may surprise you. If you are a high-achieving woman like me, it may be this is exactly what you need to hear.

In fact, she loves it so much that sometimes, she will write something down on her to-do list after she’s done it, just so she has the pleasure of checking it off!

Boy, I can relate. Can you?

There are documented psychological reasons we, as humans, love to make lists. BUT, did you know your list may be doing you more harm than good as you attempt to scale your law firm business?
