Despite lottery funds supposedly earmarked for schools, our institutions often lag behind in technology and resources. Smart boards and tablets are simply not enough; we need a curriculum that genuinely engages students. With comparisons drawn from both public schools and the healthcare sector, we delve into the challenges and potential solutions for making education a catalyst for reducing crime rates. Join our debate on the reliability of technology in these crucial sectors and how updated learning tools can better stimulate young minds.
We wrap up with a nostalgic homage to hip hop's pioneers and an appreciation for the technological strides that have transformed the industry. Remembering the high costs and rarity of early cell phones, we pay tribute to icons like Nas, Jay-Z, and Biggie Smalls, who climbed the heights of success through sheer grit and innovation. We also highlight Ralph McDaniels’ invaluable contributions via his live Instagram sessions and Video Music Box shows. Special thanks to Sharif for his insights, and a heartfelt shoutout to our audience for tuning in. Ever had a friend who seemed to cheer you on but somehow left you feeling drained? That's the heart of our latest episode, where Azaa Khadraj helps us unravel the dark twists of 'frenemies' — those masquerading allies in life's theater. As Azaa dissects her book "Know Thy Frenemies" we navigate the perilous undercurrents of toxic relationships, even within our own families. It's a candid exploration of the veiled competition and resentment that can lurk beneath the surface of what seems like friendship, and the effect of such dynamics on our mental health, especially in the close quarters induced by the pandemic lockdowns.
Tragedy often brings hidden truths to light, and our episode doesn't shy away from recounting the sobering tales of those betrayed by the very people they held close. Like the young woman with entrepreneurial dreams, whose fateful trip to Mexico ended in a nightmare, our discussion serves as a cautionary tale on the importance of knowing who we trust. These stories aren't just heart-wrenching—they're crucial conversations about personal safety and the need for discernment when it comes to the company we keep.
To wrap this thought-provoking session, Azaa's upcoming book takes center stage, promising a deep dive into the art of spotting and understanding these deceptive dynamics. With her book touching down soon, we point you towards Azaa's hub of community interaction for those who can't wait to dissect more about this topic. So, pull up a chair and get ready to listen; because this isn't just another talk—it's a guide to navigating the treacherous waters of relationships with eyes wide open.

Questioning Identity Labels and their Underlying Implications
In this episode we will address the color terms used to describe different nationalities. Are these derogatory terms or proper terms? Where did these terms come from and who coined the phrase "Black People"
DescriptionDo we ever question the labels we use to define ourselves? Let's embark on a journey that pushes the boundaries of our own perceptions. We're not just talking about identity – we're dissecting it, challenging it, and daring to redefine it. We tackle the term "black" and ask if it diminishes the achievements of our community. We even consider how labels like "Irish," "Italian," and "Cuban" might carry a deeper cultural resonance. And before we dive too deep, we lighten the mood with a humorous take on "white" and "black" as nationalities, courtesy of an unwitting game show contestant.
But we're not stopping there. We're delving into the heart of identity, scrutinizing the implications of reducing individuals to a mere color. Does the term "black people" truly encapsulate the complexity of our identities? With a small detour to the origins of the continent of Africa, we aim to provoke thought and encourage dialogue. Join the conversation, share your views, let's explore this together – not just for us, but for the richness of our shared histories and the future of our identities.Blog Post
Identity and ethnicity are significant aspects of our lives. They influence our perceptions of ourselves and others, shape our experiences, and are instrumental in our understanding of the world around us. In this podcast episode, we take a deep dive into these two intertwined elements, challenging the labels we use and questioning their underlying implications.
We explore the significance of labeling ethnicities and the terms we use to define ourselves. The term "black," for instance, is frequently used to describe our race. However, the host, Hulse O'GiGo, argues that this term downplays the achievements and contributions of our community. He suggests that terms like Irish, Italian, or Cuban carry more respect and meaning. This perspective, which aims to stimulate a re-evaluation of our perceptions, is supplemented with a clip by Muhammad Ali discussing the same topic.
Interestingly, the conversation also touches on the use of the terms "white" and "black" as nationalities, with a humorous response from a game show contestant thrown in for good measure. The discourse aims to encourage listeners to share their opinions on this matter, inviting an open dialogue that values diversity of thought.
Next, we delve into the meaning of identity and terminology. The host expresses discomfort with reducing individuals to a color and suggests that terms like Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Italian hold more cultural significance. He also introduces an intriguing point about the existence of an original name for the continent of Africa that is not commonly used. This topic aims to ignite a discussion on whether the term "black people" diminishes the complexity of our identities.
This exploration into identity and ethnicity is more than an academic exercise. It is a journey that seeks to redefine our understanding of ourselves and others. It calls for a thoughtful eSend us a Text Message.

It appears the system is set up to dig into the pockets of low income families by any means necessary. Knock it off let's get the kids off the streets and into schools by any means necessary. Lets off the programs the children are interested in. After all they have proven there is a way to have financial free using the computer. And there is more to come. I am eager to see what's next.

In this episode I discuss minimum wage with Ms. D from Brooklyn New York and the effects it has on low income neighborhoods. While discussing this topic it led us into education, guns, the government's system in determining what the minimum wage should be, what ever method the government uses it doesn't work. Many people are unable to live in New York and move out. The system needs fixing!!! To the Government STOP playing with people's lives, fix the school system and government housing. Enough is enough. You created the term Slum landlord and you are sitting on the throne.
We would like to hear your opinion on this matter feel free to send a text message to 212-718-0330 stating you are calling in and would like to respond to Minimum wage or any other topic. Then call back and leave your comment.Send us a Text Message.
