#throwback: Meet Adrian Wood or otherwise known as the hilariously relatable video blogger and mother of four as seen on Tales of an Educated Debutante. Tune in to learn how Adrian rediscovered her love for writing by moving through paralyzing levels of grief that originated with the loss of her brother as a teenager, and later birthing a son who was identified as being a special kind if "different." Lindsey + Amber discuss how life's unexpected curveballs can also be the best gifts life gives us. *Adrian's brutally honest approach to sharing "what is" vs "what could have been" will have listeners of today's episode engaged from start to finish. Have you ever passively sugar coated your needs in a hidden way or being on the receiving end of trying to figure out the missing puzzle piece? We've all been there! Passive aggression is one of the most frustrating (yet most common) behaviors to see because it can be so hard to pin down and ultimately fix. Lindsey and Amber discuss a few tips that you can use to nudge your friend, loved one, or colleague to interact with you in a more productive, straightforward way.
1. Don't label them as "passive aggressive."
2. Focus on the content, not the delivery.
3. Figure out what the other person cares about.
4. Call attention to what's happening.
5. Make a straightforward request.

#throwback | Filmmaker Mitch Summers has more than 1 million followers on the web with over 750 million views and he joins us to publicly share his life story for the first time. Mitch is an all-American guy who was living the all-American dream and unbelievably, he walked away from it in pursuit of something greater. In today's episode, Lindsey and Amber question the real price of our modern, hustle-at-all-cost business culture. Something quite toxic has happened to the American Dream - it seems to glorify being a workhorse so you can fill your house with things without any consideration for quality of life. For many overachievers, the relentless pursuit of success leaves behind damaged relationships and personal life carnage in their wake. Through authentic, honest, and vulnerable storytelling, content creator Mitch Summers joins us to rhetorically asks, “Is it really worth it?” Follow Mitch Summers:Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mitchsummersInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/mitch__summers/TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mitch.summers--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatthefoxpodcast/support

From the Archives: This Season 1 #throwback involves discussion about the Leandro Case and the human right to learn. Guest Speaker Jenice Ramirez joins us from Durham, NC where she serves as the Executive Director for a nonprofit that builds community and leadership through educational Spanish language and cultural immersion programs. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, only 20 percent of Americans can converse in two or more languages, compared with 56 percent of Europeans. Experts estimate that at least half of the human race is bilingual. Jenice discusses the value of cultural immersion programs and bilingualism in America and why education is a priceless investment to achieve equity and equality in the United States. Perhaps the rest of us might reconsider our pride in knowing only one language, or at least stop drawing attention to the gap between us (N. Americans) and humanity in general.**Shout out to Jay Mathews of Washington Post for his words of wisdom on the topic of bilingualism in America. —- Share Your Story!Email: [email protected]: @whatthefoxpodcastFacebook.com/whatthefoxpodcastOther Social: https://linktr.ee/whatthefoxMusic Credit: Nick Driver--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/whatthefoxpodcast/support

S1:26 #throwback: Mike C. Manning is an Emmy-winning American actor, producer, reality television personality and activist. Manning gained fame as a cast member on the MTV series The Real World: D.C. before subsequently embarking on an acting career, appearing in a number of films and television programs, such as the 2014 Disney Channel original movie Cloud 9, in which he played Nick Swift, Hawaii Five-0, Love Is All You Need? (2016), Teen Wolf, The Call, Son of the South and Days of Our Lives. As a producer, his work includes the documentary Kidnapped for Christ, and The Bay, which won the 2020 Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Digital Daytime Drama Series. Additionally, Manning won the 2021 Daytime Emmy Award Outstanding Performance By a Supporting Actor in a Daytime Fiction Program for his performance as Caleb McKinnon.
Lindsey and Mike became friends long before Hollywood and shortly before his TV career started in 2009 when Manning publicly came out as bisexual. In his pre-show interviews, Manning described himself as a "pile of contradictions," and indicated that his time in D.C. would be a turning point for him and the question of whether his family would accept his sexuality. Since the show, Mike has stated that being on The Real World: DC helped him to realize the power of television to help influence public opinion and create social change, and was ultimately a large part in his decision to help found the production company Lucky Mann Productions. We highly recommend checking out some of Mike's latest works such as The Way Out (avail everywhere digitally), The Call and Slapface (streaming on SHUDDER).

"Conscious Healers helped me to surpass my growth in ways I didn't think possible." - 2023 Attendee
"Lindsey, I can’t express enough how grateful I am with you for facilitating this incredible retreat. Personally, It was one of the most eye-opening and soul searching experiences I’ve ever had. I felt totally safe, welcomed and appreciated in the group. I felt a strong connection with all of the women and learned something about each and every one of them. I also enjoyed the various outdoor activities from yoga to drum circles and just fell in love with the magic of Sedona. I highly recommend!" - 2023 Attendee
"The retreat leader picked a really great group of women - all of us got along great and that in of itself is pretty amazing!" - 2023 Attendee
"I feel like I got exactly what I needed out of this retreat. I truly came back a changed person and even though I have not had the time to meditate or prioritize self care since I've come home, I have more control of my emotions. I feel so in sync with my voice and emotional state of being that I would not had otherwise. I have found grace in my words and actions and can't thank you enough Lindsey for providing such a safe space where I was able to process and LEAVE my past in the most magical place in the world." - 2023 Attendee
"The writing activity on the last morning moved me in such a grand way. As I wrote the most loving way to a random person to choose joy, it struck me how profoundly it is to have the answers to feel better yet I've only allowed this wisdom to be for others. Taking responsibility for my actions was the biggest insight I gained on this retreat. Thank you!" - 2023 Attendee

In post-pandemic world of working from home and being more disconnected than ever, Katharine Manning's book The Empathetic Workplace guides supervisors of any level through an understanding of how stories of trauma impact the brain of both the survivor and the listener, as well as the tools to handle the interaction appropriately, to help the listener, the organization, and most importantly, the survivor.
For fifteen years, Katharine Manning advised the Justice Department on victim issues in its most challenging cases, from terrorism to child exploitation to large-scale financial fraud. As President of Blackbird DC, Manning now uses her expertise to help government, educational, and corporate institutions prepare for and respond to the challenges they face involving employees and members of the public who may be in trauma, from claims of sexual harassment or assault to large-scale impacts like data theft and workplace violence. A member of the California bar, Manning also served as an attorney with the law firm Pillsbury Winthrop in San Francisco, where she represented Fortune 500 companies in class actions, insurance, and media cases. She is a graduate of Smith College and the University of Virginia School of Law.

From childhood to motherhood, Di Ciruolo takes us through very personal and intensely heartbreaking experiences and creates a safe space for trauma survivors in her new book Indomitable, a true story of foster care survival.
Diana "Di" Machado Ciruolo is a mother of two neurospicy kids, a DEI educator and a social justice advocate. Her experiences growing up on the outside as a foster kid with neurodiversity have given her a unique understanding of humanness that informs her practice and her life. Di’s passion is freeing other humans from the guilt and self-harm that can come from trauma and loss and she has a love/hate relationship with public speaking.
With intentional wit and a healthy amount of self-reflection, Di Ciruolo invites explorers to find the places they can relate to while finding footing on the rungs to healing. Ciruolo shines a light on inner trauma by offering encouragement and guidance for survivors and those who seek to support them.

Lindsey + Amber kickoff Mental Health Awareness Month by giving an ode to everyday acts of kindness. As notoriously stated by Brad Meltzer, Robin Williams, and even Plato himself: Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about so be kind, always. It could be by giving up our seat on a bus to someone who might need it more, or offering to make a cup of tea for someone at work. Whatever you choose, research shows that helping others can also benefit our own mental health and wellbeing by reducing stress and improving mood, self-esteem and overall happiness. What is your favorite act of kindness to offer or receive by others?

Our lifestyles have a profound impact on our planet. Our choices matter. Around two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions are linked to private households. The electricity we use, the food we eat, the way we travel, and the things we buy all contribute to a person’s “carbon footprint,” the amount of greenhouse gas emissions associated with an individual’s activities. In honor of Earth Day, guest speaker Janelle Rolke joins us to share 7 tips that we can do to make a difference on a micro and macro level. From organizing local litter clean ups to working as a Waste Reduction Coordinator, Janelle helps residents live more sustainably, produce less waste and implements programs at every level of the city government. Rape myths are prejudicial, stereotyped, and false beliefs about sexual assaults, rapists, and rape victims. They often serve to excuse sexual aggression, create hostility toward victims, and bias criminal prosecution. Masters-level mental health professional and PhD student Olivia Grella joins for our 'Clinician Spotlight' from the University of Wyoming to discuss the harsh reality of psychology and the law among rape victims. Extensive research has been conducted about the impact of rape myths and Olivia is here to myth bust false views about rape that may lead to victim blaming, shaming, and questioning of the victim's honesty within the legal system. - Content Credit: What is a Rape Myth? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rape_myth
