  • Did you think "I'm not a yelling parent" pre-parenthood but then you became a parent and realized you became that parent you didn't want to be? You're not alone.

Be honest — did you have a whole vision of the kind of parent you'd be before kids arrived? Patient. Calm. Never a yeller. And then… real life happened. The spilled cereal at 7am. The homework meltdown. The "I already asked you five times" moment. Suddenly you're hearing your own mother's voice coming out of your mouth and wondering how did I get here?

Friend, you are not alone — and you are not broken. In this episode, mindful parenting expert Hunter Clarke-Fields joins me to talk about why so many of us become the yelling parent we swore we'd never be, and more importantly, what we can actually do about it.

🌿 In This Episode We Talk About

Why the "I'll never yell" promise we made pre-kids is almost impossible to keep — and why that's not your faultWhat's actually happening in your brain when you lose it (hint: it's not a character flaw)How our own childhood experiences get triggered in parenting momentsThe mindfulness practices that help you pause before you reach your breaking pointWhy self-compassion isn't letting yourself off the hook — it's how you actually changeWhat to do after a yelling moment to repair with your kids and yourself

  • “When we get Alzheimer’s… walk away.” That’s what her mother told her—there was nothing to be done, so why sacrifice your life?

But Marilyn Raichle chose a different path.

In this moving conversation, Marilyn shares how growing up surrounded by Alzheimer’s shaped her views on caregiving, and how supporting both of her parents through dementia transformed her from reluctant caregiver to someone who found unexpected joy and connection in the journey.

We talk about shifting from seeing people as “suffering from” dementia to truly living with it—and how creativity, presence, and small moments can bring meaning even in hard seasons. Marilyn also shares how her mother’s artistic awakening inspired her work celebrating the creativity and dignity of those living with dementia.

  • Ever wondered what it’s like to voice some of your favorite romance characters like Rhysand of ACOTAR and Kingfisher from Quicksilver?

Here’s the inside scoop because I had the pleasure of chatting with Anthony Palmini. In our discussion, he shared how his journey began with acting and led him to discover the world of voiceover. It’s fascinating to hear how he prepares for hours in the booth, balancing character voices and the emotional depth needed for each role.Want to know how he handles the pressure of playing such popular characters? Or the hilarious moments when he reads spicy lines? Trust me, you’ll want to listen to the entire episode for those gems!

Anthony Palmini has been an audiobook narrator for several years and has had leading roles in very popular book series including A Court of Thorns and Roses series as Rhysand and as Kingfisher in the Quicksilver Series. Bringing these powerful, lead male characters to life is just one of the many ranges he provides as he can also voice a variety of characters ranging from serious dark broody characters to fun youthful larger than life characters. His background as a improv comedy stage actor, video editor/director and music composer helps him in not only to stay sharp and deliver any kind of performance needed for a project but also how to work with people behind the scenes and communicate on what is needed on the technical end. His narration style can be causal and funny to powerful and dramatic depending on what tone is required from the story being told. Always inspired by great storytellers not just in audiobooks but in all genres of entertainment, he aims to make sure the listener is engaged and entertained.

  • Want to raise kids who aren't spoiled? Start with serving others!

Our family spent three days in Mexico building a house for a family in need. It wasn’t huge or fancy, but it was a huge step for those who’ve never had a safe place to call home. The experience taught my kids the value of hard work and compassion. They used tools, painted walls, and even climbed on roofs. I was amazed at their courage to try new things and the joy they found in helping others.

It’s about more than just labor; it’s about showing my kids that giving back is essential. We had our fears, but we did it scared and building relationships along the way. And that's the lesson I want them to carry forward.

Looking for ways to help? Start small. Volunteer at a food bank or join community projects. Every little bit counts!

Here's how our family built a house together partnering with Yugo ministries: https://www.yugo.org/

You can also go to some other great local food banks with kids or search a spot by you to start small! Here are a few we have helped serve:

    Second Harvest Food Bank: https://www.shfb.org/

    Feeding San Diego: https://feedingsandiego.org/

Tag someone who needs this inspiration or you want to volunteer with! 🙌

  • After reading Super Nintendo by Keza MacDonald, I appreciated Nintendo in a completely new way. This isn’t just a company that made popular games — it’s a company built on creativity, risk, innovation, and giving joy at heart.

In this episode, we’re diving into the surprising stories behind:

🍄 Mario — from accidental to global icon
🗡️ The Legend of Zelda — the philosophy of exploration and why it feels so timeless
⚡ Pokémon — how connection turned into a worldwide phenomenon
🎨 Splatoon — Nintendo’s boldest multigenerational modern creative brain child

From playing cards in 1889 to shaping millions of childhoods, Nintendo didn’t just follow trends — they create meaningful games that stay with us.

If you grew up with Nintendo — or you’re raising kids who are — this one’s for you.

💬 Tell me in the comments:
