In this episode, I sit down with Mike Barnes, an expert in strength and conditioning and a hunter himself. We discuss common myths related to training for hunting, backpacking, and preparing for the mountain! We address how progressive overload and endurance training are more important than solely focusing on carrying a heavy pack for miles on end. We also dive into how training for uneven terrain is best achieved by actually spending time hiking and walking on uneven surfaces, rather than relying on balancing exercises on unstable surfaces. It is important to consider the specific terrain and challenges of backcountry hunting when designing a training program.
