One wet, cold, snowy night, my boyfriend, a good friend and I were having cozy winter cocktails, when the subject on people posting tributes of deceased friends to social media but not disclosing the cause of death came up in conversation. This sparked a three sided debate... I say, if youāre gonna post it, you owe us the details. My boyfriend thinks that thatās private and it needs to be respected. Our friend thinks, a bit of both needs to happen. While we shouldnāt ASSUME, the truth is, drug related deaths have been steadily on the rise for some time now. Weāve all seen friends or friends-of dying of drug related reasons and yet, I feel like everyone is too afraid to discuss it (hence the cause of death remaining unmentioned). Ultimately, if we want to see less drug related deaths, then the conversation around drug use needs to change... Anyway, did yāall miss me?--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yaaasbro/support

We welcome Mikey - the founder of OUT MY CLOSET - a successful non profit organization created to provide resources to homeless LGBT+ youth. Not only to we talk about this amazing organization and how it all started, we also talk about partying and nightlife (where I nitpick the hell out of the NYC gay scene) the difference between NYC gays and the MIA gays, how Mikey and I have been subjects of unfair treatment at a popular Miami gay club, the gross power that is "white privilege", and way too many other things to list. At the end of the day, we just want everyone to be kinder to each other. WHY IS THIS SUCH A DIFFICULT ASK?!

I had the pleasure of being interviewed by K, host of āLost Spacesā - a podcast about lost queer venues and the impact they had on the people who drank, danced and loved within themā¦ In this episode/therapy session, I unpack a lot of memories from my early days in the club scene where my at the time boyfriend would drag me to Diskotekka (my first gay club), and how it shaped me to be the gay I am today. Anyone remember those chaotic, 18+ nights? Looking back at this period in my life, I was terrified of setting foot in a gay club; After years of suppressing and hiding my gayness, it was difficult to shake that fear of openly participating in gay activities (the self-loathing and internalized homophobia were too real). I spilled a lot more than I wanted to in this episode, and I have to say, itās a masterpiece. Thank you K for having me! And be sure to check out @LostSpaces the podcast!

We welcome back my boyfriend Dan, who was on a few episodes ago where we discussed why pride branding matters. As promised, we revisit pride month and talk about some of our favorite moments in rainbow capitalism and why they were AMAZINGGG. We also talk about some pride month fails where we call out a few things that could've been done JUST A LITTLE BETTER, and the hypocrisy & double standards that the gays are guilty of when engaging with certain brands that donāt always have the interests of the LGBTQ+ community in mind. Understanding these campaigns and the way that the world of advertising works helps us become more savvy consumers, advocates, allies, etc. The world we live in is changing, and so is our political climate and whether we like this shit or not, understanding the positive impact of pride branding is V important for our community. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yaaasbro/support

*VIDEO PODCAST* Every now and then, I like to take a break from all the sex, fetish, and nasty talk and give you all an episode related to health and wellness. I do this because I love us and I want us to take better care of ourselves or whatever. In this episode, I'm joined by Alan and Katie, the creators of Moxa - a health & wellness app created to better educate people on how to prevent diseases and how to fix things when they're just a little bit wrong through acupressure. For those of you who don't know, acupressure is "acupuncture without the needles", where you use your fingers to massage and activate those same acupoints and see if it can help your body find balance. While uncovering the magic of this 3000 year old Chinese practice, we also discuss: the benefits of crying, how your body stores sadness in your hips, men's fear of being emotional, understanding the importance of maintaining a balanced Yin and Yang, American dependency on over the counter meds, how "hurt people" - hurt people, and SOOO MUCH MORE. We even feature a guided acupressure session to get you to relax - you're welcome. So tune in, download the Moxa app, and get ready to restore balance in your precious little bodies.

We as gay men grew up in a society that completely invalidates our existence, leaving us to figure a lot of this stuff out on our own... In this episode, we welcome author Matthew Todd, where we discuss his book "Straight Jacket: Overcoming Society's Legacy of Gay Shame". Yes, this is a self-help book - and if you're like me, you think you're perfect and there's nothing wrong with you and reading this would be an absolute waste of time. I'm here to tell you, you're wrong and also YES, you are the problem. We discuss so many of themes mentioned throughout the book, including: the root of why we're so afraid of coming out, gay self destruction and how we compare ourselves to others, bottom shaming, the brighter sides of grindr, why we should be good to our allies, and soooo much more. Reading this book has been life changing for me, and has helped me understand so many things about myself and the gay community that I didn't know I didn't understand. No matter what part of your gay journey youāre on, I hope that each of you will pick up this book, and have as many āAHA!ā moments as I did. --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yaaasbro/support

I had the pleasure of meeting Mat, host of MAT TALES - an erotica podcast where he shares stories from his 40 years of sexual encounters with gay men. Thing is, the world has changed over the last 40 years. There was a time when there was no grindr, tinder, instagram (or podcasts), and gay bars were extremely rare, so gay men had to get creative whenever they wanted to meet other gay men; Mat and I talk about this and how it shaped him to be who he is today. We also talk about cruising, very kinky sex, what lead him to want to share these raw stories with the world, and soooo much more.Click the link in the podcast bio to make a donation to YAAAS BRO! Happy Pride! And welcome to a new season of YAAAS BRO! So much has happened since the last time I released an episode, so I figured, why the hell not start a new chapter with a new set of guests, a "sort-of" new look and new ways of serving up some gay ol' content.
SO! In this episode, being that it's PRIDE, I want us to all understand why we celebrate it in the first place. We're diving into a little LGBT history lesson where I'll be highlighting a few of the major events that predate the Stonewall Riots. Yes, Stonewall served as a catalyst for the pride celebrations we have today, but it's important that we note a few other moments throughout LGBT history that shaped our community to what it is today.
Also, hate it or love it, pride branding is a huge part of pride celebrations. Whether you celebrate it or criticize it heavily, rainbow-washing plays a huge part in promoting the LGBTQ+ community. Joining me in this is discussion is Dan Howarth (my boyfriend), where we list out a million reasons why any small effort that goes into rainbow capitalism is a step in the right direction, whether its for the right reasons or not. We actually published an article on this last pride season, and it was translated into a bunch of different languages and published in a few publications around the world. Take that you haters!
Lastly, I'm launching a monthly book club where I recommend a book for y'all to read. This month, our book is Straight Jacket by Matthew Todd. What are you waiting for? PRESS THAT PLAY BUTTON NEOOOW!

BEHOLD - The Scale Jonny and I spoke of in our our LAST episode... In continuing the conversation on the etiquette of being out on the scene, we reveal our multilayered scale we use to rank how well someone can hang when under the influence of alcohol. Lots of factors go into determining your ranking, such as: How many drinks until you get messy? Do you get aggressive? How sharp is your ability to self assess? and SOO MUCH MORE. This is cutting edge stuff, y'all. Be sure to add it to your notes! Jonny and I are here to make partying safer and FUNNER for everyone, and while we can't promise that after listening to this episode you'll be a professional drunk like us, we're hoping you'll aspire to be less of a mess and be bit more skilled at navigating your insobriety. Thereās a very real conversation that needs to be had about āTHE ETIQUETTE OF BEING OUT ON THE SCENEā because what Iāve been observing over the years has been SHAMEFUL. In this episode, we welcome back my best friend, Jonny, where he and I break it down for yāall and discuss: the politics of drink buying, girls at gay clubs, not picking up on social cues, asking around for drugs, how to handle your drunk self and at least 8 more tips to make you a less undesirable person to be around when partying. Thing is, Jonny and I have a long history of mingling in all kinds of social scenes, and while we always manage to have a good time, thereās a certain āetiquetteā that comes along with it. So whether you're a nobody from middle of nowhere Minnesota, or a seasoned socialite from Miami, I can guarantee that there's something for you to take away from this episode. Stay tuned for PART 2 where we reveal āTHE DRUNK SCALEā to help you better navigate your insobriety.--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yaaasbro/support

In this episode we welcome Valerie, a feisty spirit and gem of a human being I met many Saturdays ago while out getting wasted. As one of YAAAS BROās biggest fans, Val was V excited to come on and share a few of her ratchet chronicles where sheās had to put several heaux in check (good luck keeping count), her attempts at trying anal, why you should let your man ācheat in peaceā, being a mom and her LOVE for the gays. We go on to talk about how there's no shame in butt play (if you're a straight male), how being an advocate for the LGBTQ+ community means having tough conversations with the people around you, how it's important to raise your kids to not be assholes, man-child style and soooo much more. Shout out to El Patio - Wynwood for bringing Val and I together.

For this description, I'm going to refer to myself as Marotto because this episode is giving you two Jonathan's and I'm not trying to confuse y'all... In this installment, Marotto chats with guest Jonathan, who shares raw details on what life as a gay with a disability has been like. Jonathan was born with cerebral palsy, a neurological disorder that appears in infancy or early childhood and permanently affects body movement and muscle coordination. Despite Jonathan's disability, there's no stopping him or his love for life (and dick). Jonathan shares his experience coming out, some juicy Grindr hookups, along with some struggles he faced leaving a small town in Puerto Rico and adjusting to big city life in Miami. We also go on to discuss how people with disabilities are just like everyone else and how they too have needs, how damn lucky today's kids are with all the representation they see in the media, and so much more. We even went as far as providing you all with a little pep talk to help shake off some of those insecurities and give you back your confidence - you're welcome. This episode of YAAAS BRO features discussions around sexual abuse, heavy drug use and mental health. If you or a loved one is dealing with or is having a hard time dealing with any of these things, please seek professional help. Listener discretion is advised. In this episode of YAAAS BRO, Jonathan is joined by former co-worker, Javi, who celebrates 7 years sober, but reveals it was a long journey before getting to where he is today. Javi shares his struggles with substance use, mental health, coming to terms with his sexuality, how he was able to overcome it all and become a beacon of hope for others with similar struggles. In between all this, we also discuss the trauma of growing up not understanding what "gay" is, the "shameful" things we did as little gay boys, how men are expected to not show emotion, the many types of virginity (because there's more than one), being a retail gay, and so much more. To anyone struggling with anything, let this episode be a reminder that you'll always have people around you who will always love you. Be safe out there. No, Iām not dead. YAAAS BRO is not dead. Daddy has just been a little too busy, thatās allā¦ In this episode we welcome host of podcast "We're Big Kids Now", Joe Alexander. We talk about a few things that we enjoyed during our childhood but came to realize as adults that they actually suck, like Disney and Free Willy. We also talk about coming out, the ever changing rainbow flag, being a self-loathing gay, making friends in the gay scene, how people revolve their personalities around ONE interest (ew), and so much more. Buckle up kids, this episode is loaded. Probably the most awkward (but fun) episode to date... We welcome my very first boyfriend of 5.5 years, Joel. In short, we met in highschool, and experienced a lot of 'firsts' together. Even though our relationship ended back in 2011, we've managed to keep in touch and maintain a healthy friendship despite some odd bumps along the road. In this episode, we revisit our relationship and how far we've come in our love and sex lives since our rendezvous. We talk about how we would get freaky on the DL and not get caught, how there's always something to learn from failed relationships, things we teach and learn from our partners, how different our lives would have been had we not been involved with each other, and the sort of juicy details of our breakup. Other topics include my (YES MY) internalized homophobia, my (YES MY) anti-social antics, high school reunions, PDA, some family drama and a bunch more. Tune into this episode where we catch up, reflect and revisit the good old days of a high school love affair.Edited/Produced by: Jonathan MarottoGuest IG: @joelh4491--- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/yaaasbro/support

We welcome YAAAS BRO's FIRST female guest - long time friend and host of her own podcast "Some Supervision Required" Daniella Romero! Daniella and I have known each other for 2/3 of our lives, where we've watched each other grow from a couple of Britney Spears obsessed dorks in middle school, to two 30 year olds trying to figure life out. Brace yourselves for this episode where we passionately discuss the "Free Britney" movement, girls and their gay friends, straight people in gay spaces, being a true LGBTQ+ ally, people in NYC vs LA vs MIA, and dating in Miami. With society going back to its pre-covid state, there's a desperate need to remind you all how to COME CORRECT in social settings and when a new place is no longer "cool" or "happening". BUT WAIT, there's more... this episode is loaded with all kinds of stuff; from getting the right bottle of Rose to the use of the F word many homosexual males fear - this is what happens when you bring two millennials together who have a lot to say.
