  • Things have only gone up for the Grizzlies since 2019 and the 2023 playoffs was a brutal reality check for them. And after just going through a gap year filled with injuries, it feels like the league has forgotten about them. They should be back in the playoff picture for the West just by being healthy. However, they do have some moves to make, particularly at center. They should be able to acquire any of the big men that are reportedly available on the trade market. • What a run. I was very critical of their trade deadline. I thought they gave up too many assets in the past year for what seemed like floor-raising moves at best. But after seeing them have one of the best post-trade deadline records, I had a feeling that they could have a deep run if the seeding breaks right for them. I felt the only team that could stand in their way were the Denver Nuggets, and thankfully they didn't have to face them. For all we know, this might be the furthest this Mavs team goes for the next few years, but they should still be really good going forward. Their offseason should be relatively simple: re-sign Derrick Jones Jr. I go into how they could open up flexibility to re-sign him, who they could pursue if he doesn't return, and how.0:00 Intro0:30 Mavericks 2024-25 Payroll1:44 Derrick Jones Jr.2:56 Non-taxpayer Mid-Level Exception3:44 How they could unlock the exception to re-sign Jones Jr.4:29 Scenario where the Mavs pursue an affordable wing if Jones Jr. leaves5:32 Scenario where the Mavs pursue a more expensive wing like Jerami GrantPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • The Warriors as we know them may be gone, but at least they're finally about to have some financial relief. That's because they're finally in a position to avoid the luxury tax after spending nearly $700 million in penalties over the last 9 seasons. It seems like they'll part ways with Chris Paul and Kevon Looney to generate all these savings. They'll be looking to run things back with Stephen Curry, DraymondGreen, and hopefully Klay Thompson. His future is up in the air as both sides have been far apart in extension talks for over a year now. If avoiding the tax is an objective, then they're unlikely to make many major additions this summer. But what if they can add an All-Star? I go over several roster builds for the Warriors, including revisiting their (extremely unlikely) attempt to acquire LeBron James in last year's trade deadline.0:00 Intro0:33 Luxury tax penalties over the last 9 seasons1:52 Warriors 2024-25 payroll analysis3:27 More relevant payroll without Chris Paul and Kevon Looney4:31 Payroll projection featuring Klay Thompson and Gary Payton II on new contracts6:29 How the non-taxpayer mid-level exception could be factored in8:05 Revisiting their attempt to trade for LeBron James and how it could still be done10:33 Jonathan Kuminga's potential extension11:29 Projecting the 2025-26 Warriors and why Andrew Wiggins' time in Golden State could be coming upPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • The post-Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving era has not been kind to the Nets. For what it's worth, I think they made out really nicely in their respective trades. They now have a surplus of draft equity that could be enough to acquire an All-Star. But will one become available to them? And what kind would they need to really elevate this roster to title contention? I'm skeptical they'll be able to transform this roster to where they want it to be anytime soon. They might be better off negotiating a trade with the Rockets that allows them to get control of their draft picks back so they can take a step back and enter a rebuild. They might be able to get back to relevance faster that way with some young players they can build a future with.0:00 Intro0:43 Nets 2024-25 payroll analysis1:59 Nicolas Claxton2:57 Mikal Bridges3:58 Nets 2025 cap space projection and why they might hold off on extending Cam Thomas and Day'Ron Sharpe5:45 The case for the Nets trading Mikal Bridges to Houston for their picks back7:14 What a Nets rebuild could look like with some of their picks back8:21 Giannis Antetokounmpo pipedream scenarioPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • Is it crazy to think that the Rockets are close to being a contender?
They made a huge step forward last season after bringing in Fred
VanVleet and Dillon Brooks and hiring Ime Udoka. They also saw
breakthrough seasons from players like Alperen Sengun and Jalen Green,
both of whom are eligible for contract extensions this summer. But they
have the draft equity and young players to make an aggressive offer for
an All-Star-level player. And if they can't get anybody now, they could
potentially have max cap space in 2025. They're well-positioned over the
next two years to make a huge addition to their lineup.

  • After getting a taste of the playoffs in 2023, last year's Kings could not repeat the same magic. They only lost two more games and suffered several injuries down the stretch that left them shorthanded. However, the rest of the Western Conference also got much stronger, and the Kings probably weren't any closer to getting out of the first round. The Kings will look to aggressively improve the roster this summer and will seek upgrades in the trade market to improve their starting lineup and bench. But they also need to maintain what they have. Malik Monk is entering unrestricted free agency and is limited to offering him a four-year, $78 million contract. Will that be enough to retain him or will another team with cap space steal him away? It will be a challenge for the Kings to accomplish all their goals, which could require an expensive payroll for them to improve over rival teams in the West and sustain their core for several more seasons.0:00 Intro0:29 Kings 2024-25 payroll analysis2:28 Malik Monk3:31 Brandon Ingram trade scenario if Monk leaves6:32 Scenario where Monk stays and Kings open up the full mid-level7:42 Same scenario but they also trade for Kyle Kuzma9:24 Why this build is sustainable with incoming raises for De'Aaron Fox and Keegan MurrayPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • The Pelicans FINALLY had a (mostly) healthy season and gave this group its fair shot. And they did well maintaining a top 6 seed throughout most of the season. However, they dropped all the way down to the 8 seed and were completely outclassed by the Thunder in the first round of the playoffs. Now that the organization understands the roster and its personnel more, they can identify who to move and who to bring in. They are reportedly seeking an upgrade at center, which is obvious, but also at point guard. They've been linked to Trae Young, Darius Garland, and Dejounte Murray, and I think they have the assets to get any of them as well as a center like Jarrett Allen or Clint Capela. With Trey Murphy set to extend and get promoted to the starting lineup, Ingram seems like the odd man out, especially with a max extension looming. But if they're also bringing in a new point guard, they should probably move CJ McCollum as well. It may be complicated to pull all that off, but thankfully they have up to 6 first-round picks they could trade to move things along.0:00 Intro0:58 2024-25 Pelicans payroll analysis2:16 Brandon Ingram and his contract situation3:15 Why the Pelicans need to trade one or both of Ingram or CJ McCollum4:27 Dejounte Murray and Clint Capela scenario5:55 Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen scenario7:02 Projecting into the future and why this is a more sustainablePlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • This is going to be an extremely consequential offseason for the Sixers. With James Harden not working out, the 76ers pivoted to maximizing their cap space this summer to reshape the roster around Joel Embiid. The only other player guaranteed to return is Tyrese Maxey, who is set to sign a maximum contract with them this summer. Because of his upcoming raise, the Sixers have this summer as their only window to have the flexibility to pursue upgrades in free agency or trades. They are projected to have between $57-65 million, which is enough to sign or absorb anybody. They also can trade up to 5 first-round picks in a trade. They’ve already been linked to just about every big name like Paul George, Jimmy Butler, and Brandon Ingram. In this video, I’ll run a couple projections where the Sixers can get these types of players and show how they can fill the rest of the roster out.0:00 Intro0:27 Sixers payroll analysis3:28 Tyrese Maxey4:34 How the Sixers can maximize their cap space5:57 Paul George scenario8:40 Why the Sixers cap space goals will be challenging to achieve10:07 Brandon Ingram scenarioPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • It's been five years of this and the Clippers have more or less had the same result. Aside from their 2021 run to the Western Conference Finals, most of their postseason appearances have been hampered by injuries. It seems like they're set to run it back despite the team's aging core. They already extended Kawhi Leonard to a three-year deal but Paul George reportedly wants a full four-year maximum contract. It seems crazy that they would continue with this group, but I'm not convinced that it means they're committing to them for the long run. If everyone returns, I think it's possible that this Clippers team could slowly break apart if the team continues to fall short of expectations.0:00 Intro1:52 Clippers payroll analysis3:27 Paul George4:55 James Harden6:04 Clippers payroll projection if they run the team back7:24 Why the Clippers can't afford to let one of George or Harden walk7:59 DeMar DeRozan scenario9:40 Brandon Ingram scenario11:05 General thoughts and how a Clippers retool/rebuild could look like in the near futurePlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • Is it possible that Isaiah Hartenstein has played so well that he priced himself out of a return to the Knicks? That seems to be a possibility since they are limited to offering him a four-year deal worth $72.5 million. A team with cap space that really likes him could easily outbid the Knicks for his services. Some of the teams being mentioned as potential suitors, according to Yahoo Sports' Jake Fischer, include the Oklahoma City Thunder, Detroit Pistons, and Orlando Magic. In this video I analyze those teams and their potential fit with him and how they could fit him with their cap space. I also talk about why a return to the Knicks on a short-term deal, so he could become a free agent again next year and re-sign for more money, is out of the question.0:00 Intro1:03 Isaiah Hartenstein's contract options with the Knicks2:44 Oklahoma City Thunder scenario4:18 Detroit Pistons scenario5:32 Orlando Magic scenario7:39 Why I think he ultimately returns to the KnicksLink to Knicks video: https://youtu.be/Z98tU1lO6PM?si=yFEAWUePva28PPcOLink to Thunder video: https://youtu.be/eCL2DbVWc6s?si=VsihXDRkekfOtf8aLink to article about Isaiah Hartenstein on Yahoo Sports: https://sports.yahoo.com/why-isaiah-hartenstein-could-be-the-best-big-man-available-on-the-market-134657059.htmlPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • Last year it was Damian Lillard. This year Donovan Mitchell could be the Heat's top trade target this summer if he doesn't commit to an extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers. But even if a trade is possible, can the Heat sustain fielding a roster paying him, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo top dollar? Both players are extension-eligible for maximum contracts this summer which wouldn't kick in for a while, so they could possibly sustain a brief run with this trio. But what if they don't have enough to get him or another All-Star? • The Phoenix Suns went as all-in on this team as any other front office has ever done in NBA history. They have all but two first-round picks available to trade, but that may not help them much. Because of their expensive rosters, they are severely limited in the types of trades they're allowed to make. Trading Bradley Beal for several cheaper players like a rim-protecting center and a point guard would help, but there's probably no market for him. All they could really do this summer is re-sign Royce O'Neale, and fill up the roster with minimum players. Kevin Durant and Devin Booker aren't going anywhere yet, but another disappointing season could force the Suns to move one of them as this payroll reaches preposterous levels of expenses.0:00 Intro1:29 Suns 2024-25 payroll analysis3:22 Kevin Durant3:48 Royce O'Neale4:37 Why this year's Suns roster will exceed $400 million5:03 2025-26 payroll projection6:52 OutroPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this. • The NBA offseason hasn't begun until the Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to a star player. Over the last few years it was Kyrie Irving, now this year it's Trae Young and Donovan Mitchell. Both would be welcome additions to the Lakers lineup in theory, but do the Lakers even have enough assets to get a trade done? And even if they do, how would the rest of the roster look like? There are new trade rules in the CBA that trigger hard caps when teams take in more salaries than they're sending out or even combine players to get a more expensive one. Context for their playoff path aside, it's a pretty quick turnaround for them considering they only pivoted away from the Domantas Sabonis-led core just two years ago. They are now locked into this core led by Tyrese Haliburton who is about to start making maximum dollars. Pascal Siakam is going to command just as much, and they have some decisions to make on other players like Obi Toppin. They became the youngest team to win a playoff series and are so close to getting to the Finals. They need to address their frontcourt and they have the means to do it. Armed with $33 million in cap space, they could sign just about any top forward who wants to join. • The Cleveland Cavaliers have incrementally progressed over the past three seasons with a talented but flawed roster. After winning their first playoff series, expectations are picking up and the pressure is on organizationally. The biggest domino is Donovan Mitchell. They gave up a lot for him and need to keep him long-term. If he doesn't extend, do they risk taking him into free agency? Either way, it sounds like at least one of him or Darius Garland will be traded this season. And with Evan Mobley set to get a significant extension this summer, do they consider trading Jarrett Allen as well? And would acquiring another max player like Brandon Ingram make sense for their payroll long-term? At the same time, they're still armed with 8 first-round picks to trade for a star. Will that player finally become available? • Hi everyone, this is my first video on this channel where I discuss the NBA with a focus on the salary cap. The Denver Nuggets were eliminated last night but this core will still be contending for titles. But for how much longer? It seems obvious that they'll keep everyone, but the new CBA could make it challenging. They'll probably happily spend whatever it takes, but they probably want to at least avoid the newly implemented second apron. I get into that and explain how the Nuggets could potentially do that over the following two seasons while giving Jamal Murray, Aaron Gordon, and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope new contracts. They may have no choice but to be over the second apron at some point, but there's definitely a pathway to avoid it.0:00 Intro to the channel0:30 Denver Nuggets goals2:04 Nuggets 2024-25 payroll analyses4:16 Kentavious Caldwell-Pope5:43 Jamal Murray6:54 Aaron Gordon8:11 How the Nuggets could potentially avoid the second apron in the next two seasons9:44 OutroPlease subscribe and share if you enjoyed this.
