  • Hey there, friends!

Pull up a chair and grab your favorite cup of something warm. Today, we're diving into something that's been tugging at my heartstrings – the beautifully complex world of parenting, and how our own upbringing shapes the way we raise our little ones.

Remember those days when, as kids, we'd look up to our parents for every little thing? From choosing the right crayon to making big life decisions, they were our go-to guide. Fast forward to today, and here we are, still carrying that little voice in our heads that often whispers, "Would Mom or Dad approve?"

But then, amidst the whirlwind of daily life, a thought gently knocks on our door: What if we could carve our own path? What if we could nurture our children to be so sure of themselves, so grounded in their own being, that they can weather any storm with confidence and grace?

It's a beautiful sunny morning as I write this, and I can't help but smile thinking about the little lessons life offers us. Like that time when my kiddo decided to wear mismatched socks to school, boldly declaring it 'Sock Mix-up Day!' In that simple, innocent moment, I saw the pure courage to be different, to make a choice that wasn't bound by 'what's usually done.'

This journey of parenting – it's not just about guiding our little ones. It's equally about rediscovering ourselves, about peeling off layers of 'shoulds' and 'musts' that we've collected over the years. It's about sitting down with our past, having a heartfelt chat with it, and then, gently letting go of the strings that don't resonate with our present.

But oh, the bittersweet symphony of letting our kids (and ourselves) stumble, fall, and then rise! It's not easy to watch, I know. Every fiber of our being wants to rush in, to fix things, to make it all better. But sometimes, it's in those unguarded moments of struggle that the most beautiful growth happens.

It's about respect, too – a two-way street where we honor our elders, cherishing the wisdom they've passed down, while also honoring our own inner voice. It's about finding that delicate balance, where tradition meets individuality, where guidance doesn't overshadow personal growth.

So, here we are, you and I, on this journey together. It's messy, it's challenging, but oh, isn't it wonderfully human? Whether you're sipping your third cup of coffee or finally sitting down after a day that felt like a week, know that you're not alone in this dance of parenting and personal discovery.

I'd love to hear your stories, too. What's your dance like? How are you blending the old tunes with your own rhythm? Share your thoughts, your struggles, your victories. Because every shared story is a beacon of light on this shared path of ours.

Here's to us – the brave, the imperfect, the ever-growing. Let's keep this conversation, this warmth, this shared journey, alive.

  • Recently, Nick and I had a chat on our podcast that opened my eyes in a way I didn’t expect. We stumbled upon a simple yet profound idea: fear is often less of an emotion and more of a habit. This conversation sparked a train of thought that I feel is worth sharing with you all.

Life, as we often forget, isn’t a script we’re meant to follow blindly. It's not about living out a legacy or a set of pre-written expectations handed down from generations past. I used to walk along a path that seemed laid out for me, thinking it was all there was. But as Nick and I talked, I started to question – was I actually living my own life, or just playing a part in a story written before I was even born?

It hit me that many of us are unknowingly fighting to keep ourselves within these invisible walls we've built. We cling to what’s familiar and safe, often mistaking it for what’s right or necessary. But isn’t it strange how we guard these limits as if they are treasures, not realizing they might be cages?

Picture your life without these self-imposed limits. Imagine waking up each day to a world full of new possibilities, not clouded by old fears. That's the life that’s calling out to us – a life where we acknowledge our fears but choose not to be ruled by them.

During our podcast, Nick and I pondered over what life looks like when we let fear guide our steps. It’s like sticking to the shallow end of the pool, never daring to see how the deep end might feel. Sure, it’s safer there, but all the excitement and discovery are waiting out there in the deeper waters.

So, here’s what this post is really about: it’s an invitation to dive into those deeper waters. It’s time to question the old narratives that have been silently steering your life. Are they really your own, or are they just echoes of someone else's experiences?

Embracing a life beyond fear doesn’t mean fear disappears; it means learning to move forward with it as a silent companion rather than a leader. It’s about realizing you’re the one holding the pen that writes your life story, and you have the power to start a new chapter.

As we wrap up this post, remember: your life is a unique story waiting to be told, a blend of dreams, challenges, and successes that are entirely yours. Embrace it, push against the old boundaries, step out of the comfort zone, and into your own potential. In the journey of life, the most exciting stories are the ones you write yourself.

  • A year has passed since we first embarked on our journey with plant medicine. This period of time has allowed us to reflect and integrate the intense experiences we encountered during our ceremonies. Initially, in our podcast, we shared our thoughts and feelings right after these experiences, but looking back, it seems we were still riding the wave of the experience itself.

Now, with some distance, we've come to a clearer understanding. There's a question that has emerged in the quiet aftermath: if we find ourselves relying on plant medicine or any external belief system, to make decisions or find our power, doesn't that suggest a lack of self-trust or a disconnect from our own inner strength?

I’ve come to believe that the true goal of this journey is to become more connected with ourselves, to trust in our inner voice and wisdom. It's not about judging the rightness or wrongness of using external aids like plant medicine. Rather, it's about asking ourselves whether this reliance is truly reflective of who we are and what we want our life experiences to be.

Reflecting on this now, I see our initial podcast discussions as a necessary part of our process, a way of externalizing our immediate reactions. But the insights we've gained since then speak to a deeper, more personal transformation.

This journey with plant medicine has taught us the importance of looking inward. While the ceremonies opened our eyes to new perspectives, they also highlighted the significance of finding answers within ourselves. It's a realization that the most important guidance often comes from our own inner being.

So, as we move forward, we do so with a renewed sense of self-awareness and introspection. Our experiences with plant medicine have been pivotal, but they have also shown us that the most meaningful journey is the one that leads to a deeper understanding of ourselves.

  • In a world that often celebrates perfection, it's easy to fall into the trap of striving for flawlessness in everything we do. But there's a fundamental truth we often overlook: "I am not what I've done."

Perfectionism can be both a driving force and a relentless tormentor. On one hand, it propels us to strive for excellence, but on the other hand, it fosters an inner critic that berates us mercilessly for even the smallest missteps.

This relentless pursuit of perfection leads us into a never-ending cycle of disappointment. We set expectations that are impossibly high and feel like failures when we inevitably fall short. We start to doubt our abilities and lose sight of our intrinsic worth.

The weight of our past mistakes can be one of the most challenging aspects of perfectionism. We often carry the belief that our past actions define who we are today. But the truth is, we are not the sum of our past. Our past mistakes do not dictate our future.

The antidote to the perfectionist's struggle lies in embracing grace and self-compassion. It means acknowledging that making mistakes is an integral part of being human. Self-compassion allows us to learn and grow from our mistakes without judgment.

When we release the notion that we are defined by our past and the opinions of others, we experience a profound sense of liberation. We don't have to be confined by the expectations of our past or the judgments of others.

"I am not what I've done" is a powerful mantra for those seeking relief from the grip of perfectionism. It's an invitation to embrace grace and self-compassion, break free from the cycle of disappointment, and find liberation in the journey of self-improvement.

So, in this episode, let's explore how embracing imperfection can lead to a more fulfilling life. Remember, you are not defined by your past or your mistakes; you are who you choose to become.

  • In the journey of self-discovery, we sometimes find ourselves at a crossroads, faced with the decision to step away from toxic family drama and interactions that clash with our values. It's akin to realizing that you have the power to say, "I do not have to participate in this."

We've all been in situations where family gatherings turn into battlegrounds, where arguments become fixtures, and where our emotional reserves are drained. For a long time, we felt obligated to participate in this never-ending drama, thinking it was our duty. However, the truth is that we do have a choice – the choice to prioritize our own peace of mind.

Reparenting oneself is like embarking on a personal quest to heal past wounds and nurture our inner child. It's about recognizing the hurts we've carried and deciding to care for ourselves as if we were our own parents. In this journey, we discover that we hold the pen to our life's script, allowing us to reclaim the leading role.

One of the most liberating moments in our lives occurs when we break free from societal and familial expectations. Toxic family drama often thrives on conformity, on the notion that we must adhere to assigned roles. However, as we reparent ourselves, we realize that we are the authors of our own stories. We can decline the invitation to toxic scripts and instead embrace roles that resonate with our values and aspirations.

Reparenting includes the art of setting boundaries – the invisible fences that protect our inner sanctum. These boundaries serve as shields against the toxicity that once engulfed us. They empower us to engage only in interactions that contribute to our growth and well-being.

In a world where drama is often mistaken for normalcy, remember that you have the autonomy to choose your own path. You can decline participation in toxic family drama and interactions that do not align with your values. Reparenting is a journey of self-discovery, self-love, and empowerment. It's a process that reminds us that the most important role we'll ever play is that of our authentic selves. So, embrace the freedom to say, "I do not have to participate in this," and witness how your life transforms into a story of authenticity and inner peace.

  • "I Will Not Abandon You": The Deep Dive Into Reparenting Your Inner Child

Every time you scroll through your feed, you’re likely to find someone waxing poetic about the beauty of self-love. Yet, beneath these layers of affirmations and meditative quotes, lies a more profound, often untouched theme. In our next podcast episode, we're journeying into a realm that many choose to ignore - the world of the wounded inner child.

We've all heard it before, the significance of knowing oneself. But there's an echo within us, a suppressed voice of a child hidden in the corners of our being, seeking recognition, love, and healing. But what does it truly mean to turn toward this child and say, "I see you"?

Society often hands us masks - ones of a 'good person', ones that suppress our true voices, our real emotions, all in the name of fitting in. But every mask has a cost. And more often than not, the price is our authentic self.

In our upcoming episode, we’ll delve into the art of reparenting, not as a mere buzzword but as a heartfelt journey of patience, recognition, and healing. Are you genuinely embracing your inner essence or are you caught in the act, merely playing a role the world has assigned?

Drawn from personal experiences, heartfelt moments, and profound realizations, this episode is more than just a conversation. It's a testament to the struggles, the highs and lows of facing our true selves, of recognizing our flaws and embracing our human nature. It's about finding compassion amidst the chaos, both for ourselves and for others treading the same path.

So, if you’re seeking more than just surface-level discussions, if you're ready to face the discomfort, pain, and the joy of true healing, then join us for this transformative episode. As we delve deep, remember our central promise to our inner selves: "I will not abandon you. Not now, not ever."

  • In this episode, we delve into the profound topic of serving others and the true meaning of help. We explore the contrasting perspectives surrounding assistance, with a focus on distinguishing between genuine empowerment and disempowering acts disguised as help. Join us as we unravel the complexities of this concept and discover ways to make a positive impact that fosters true empowerment.

Often, the desire to assist others stems from a genuine intention to make a difference. However, it is crucial to examine the underlying motivations behind our actions. True empowerment lies in going beyond surface-level help and addressing the root causes of disempowerment. By understanding the distinction between authentic support and actions rooted in a lack of self-worth, we can shift our approach towards a more empowering mindset.

    In Conclusion:

In our quest to genuinely help others and foster empowerment, it is vital to examine our intentions, approaches, and the outcomes of our actions. By transcending traditional notions of assistance, we can shift towards a mindset that focuses on long-term empowerment rather than temporary relief. Here is an invitation to embrace active listening, collaboration, and the cultivation of self-worth to create a ripple effect of positive change in the lives of those we aim to help. Together, we can empower individuals to unlock their potential, break free from disempowering cycles, and shape a brighter future for themselves and their communities.

  • The archetype of the Necessary Hero is a powerful and universal symbol that strikes a chord with those who have faced trauma or adversity in their early lives. It's a heroic figure that we don't often see portrayed in popular media, for it's not about a hero who willingly steps forward to fight for good. Instead, it's about someone who is forced to bear the burden of the world while struggling with the scars of a turbulent childhood and unmet needs But what if that wounded child is also the necessary hero that can lead us to our greatest potential?

It started with a conversation talking about a pattern with our clients who feel trapped by the need to control everything and are unable to switch off and connect, the Necessary Hero archetype emerges, shining a light on the path towards healing and wholeness.

The Necessary Hero doesn't want to give themselves away, yet they don't know any other way to be loved. They prioritize the happiness of their loved ones above their own and carry the weight of the world to prove the worthiness of the love around them. It's not a healthy way to live, for we must honour ourselves as much as we honour others. To begin this journey, the Necessary Hero must first acknowledge how and why they sell themselves out, and then take mindful and intentional steps to re-align with their core needs and values.

Our anxious responses are not just physiological reactions; they are messengers of something deeper. In such cases, a holistic approach that targets the root cause of stress and depression, especially if they stem from inner child wounds, is necessary for healing.

Join us in an intimate conversation as we explore how this archetype is triggered, and gain insights into the modalities that can initiate the healing process and bring about a shift in perspective.

"To live is to have a story. We either enter our stories, or they own us. Only when we have the courage to own our history, are we able to write a brave new ending to our story." -Brene Brown

  • Amidst the chaos of our daily lives, we often find ourselves struggling to keep up with the ever-increasing demands of society. I hear from my clients all the time, " We feel like we're constantly drowning in a sea of endless to-do lists, self-improvement techniques, and motivational speeches, yet we still can't seem to catch a breath. I've tried every process, modality, and coach out there, and I'm still stuck."

If you're an overwhelmed person trying to use all your energy and gifts, let me simplify this for you. The way you live your life is determined by the day that your life is made of. If you're already overwhelmed, healing and self-development can become yet another thing on your to-do list. But what if we could approach it differently? What if we could build the day we want by simplifying the process and giving ourselves permission to do the things we truly want to do?

It's time to ask ourselves: is our to-do list truly ours, or is it a product of conditioning from society? What is the outcome we're pursuing, and are we truly happy on this path? Perhaps we've been conditioned to believe that being employed means we're not allowed to ask for more to do less. But what if we found a way to structure our jobs to live our lives? Let's strive for balance and create a life that supports having enough sacred space for our mind, body, and soul.

There is another way, my dear friend. This year, I've been craving simplicity, removing the noise of vision boards and checking my vibration. Instead, I've been asking myself, "How do I want to live each day, and how can I be fully present in each moment?" By embodying this presence, my days have transformed, and so has my life.

So let's take a deep breath together and commit to building the life we truly want. Let's release the overwhelm and control, and instead, embrace a life of simplicity, joy, and presence.

  • In this poignant and soul-stirring podcast, we delve into the treacherous terrain of depression, where the only constant is the unpredictable ebb and flow of emotions. We explore how depression acts as the great equalizer, indiscriminately taking hold of us all, like a fierce storm that ravages the land.

Nick bravely shares his personal experience with depression, describing it as a deep chasm that separated him from the essence of his being. He speaks of the vast divide between the human and the soul, where the only path to healing lies in traversing the treacherous abyss. Anti-depressants can be a beacon of hope when you need them but also a double-edged sword with the potential for long-term harm.

We delve into the idea that depression is always whispering to us, an unspoken truth that we are not yet willing to hear. It is like a menacing shadow that follows us wherever we go, personified to give it a tangible form that we can grasp. Yet, despite our attempts to conceptualize it, depression remains an enigmatic and formidable foe.

Karis shares her story of postpartum depression but throughout this podcast, we offer guidance and support for those navigating the turbulent waters of depression. We remind listeners that there is always hope, even in the darkest of times, and that seeking help and support is not a sign of weakness but a courageous act of self-care. So join us as we journey through the tempestuous landscape of depression, and discover ways to find light in the midst of the storm.

  • Anger is like a suit of armor that we wear to protect the most vulnerable parts of ourselves. But what if, in doing so, we're actually preventing ourselves from truly experiencing life and all of its ups and downs? Kids have a way of reminding us of this. They crave our attention and simply want to be seen. And when they experience anger, it's in its rawest form.

We often respond to anger with punishment - time out, pushing it aside, or trying to minimize it. But what if we approached it with a different perspective? What if we saw it as a natural and protective response to our boundaries being violated? What if we took the time to truly understand and process it, instead of swallowing it down and carrying it with us?

Let's embrace the full spectrum of emotions and give ourselves permission to feel.
