  • "The sounds of bells once again was coming from inside the wall. Only now, it wasn’t just the one wall. It was coming from all the walls."

A quote from the second of today's two Christmastime-based tales. Our first story is a classic of early 20th century British ghost story literature, the tale of "Smee." Our second story involves a family haunted by the sounds of bells jingling inside the walls of their home around the holidays. Who or what is ringing them? Finally, Lynze tells two horror stories sent in by you listeners, both of which are arguably the scariest stories of this episode.

"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened. Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."

  • “One day I’m gonna die - and I’m gonna take the whole town with me.”

A quote from today's first story. Our first tale is the legend of Louisiana voodoo priestess Julia Brown's curse in 1915. Did she take a whole town with her when she died? And does her ghost still haunt the Manchac swamp? Our second story revolves around the Hmong culture's belief in - and fear of - the tsog tsuam, "the evil spirit who smothers." Can this creature quite literally scare you to death? Can a nightmare kill you?

  • "Opening my eyes, I saw the same man, this time wearing a strange grin. His teeth were white enough to see in the dark... I started shaking."

A quote from today's first story. Our first tale - a collection of supposed sightings - is about a creature known as “The Grinning Man.” What is it and what does it want? Our second story is about an entity known mostly as “The Elemental.” Some believe it haunts the grounds of Ireland’s “Leap Castle”, and may be tied somehow to this old castle’s very bloody history.

  • "Becca was running down the hall as fast as she could. She felt the powerful malevolent energy behind her. What would happen if it caught her?"

A quote from today's second story. In our first account, we go over the disappearance of Frederick Valentich from Australia in 1978. The last thing he communicated to air traffic control from the cockpit of his Cessna was a UFO harassing his plane. And then he disappeared forever. Our second tale takes us to Kentucky where a ten year-old girl and her single mom were pushed out of a home by strange and powerful poltergeist activity in the late 1980s. And then Lynze shares three different fan true horror submissions. Which story will leave you feeling Scared to Death?

  • “'Are you living or dead?' asked Father Theo. 'I am dead,' said the voice."

A quote from the second of today's two tales. Our first story is our second black-eyed children encounter report. Why is a married couple still haunted by briefly meeting two black-eyed children over thirty years ago? Our second story is a summary of the most heavily documented Catholic exorcism in US history - the early 20th century exorcisms of Wisconsin's Emma Schmidt. Was a woman's soul antagonized by demons and even the Devil himself for roughly three decades? Also, Lynze reads two creepy listener-submitted stories today. Which of these tales, if any, will leave you feeling scared to death?

  • "If the witnesses were correct, Tedford would have disappeared from his seat as the bus was traveling down Route 7, while it was driving through the Bennington Triangle..."

A quote from the first of today's two tales. Our first story is about a string of disappearances and other unsettling occurrences that have taken place over the years in Vermont's Bennington Triangle. What is happening in those woods? Our second story revolves around Harold the doll. A seemingly cursed and haunted object that some claim has spoken, threaten, hurt, and even killed. What evil is trapped inside this old doll and how did it get there? Also, an especially spooky story was sent in by one of our listeners. Which tale, if any, will leave you feeling scared to death?

  • "She heard something make it to the door outside their room and then stop. And then she heard and saw the doorknob jiggle - like someone was just about to let themselves in, and she screamed..."

A quote from today's second of two tales. Our first tale is the story of Popobawa, a cryptid that is reported to have had attacked several villagers on Zanzibar's Pemba Island several times since the 1970s. Our second story takes us to Haverfordwest, Wales, where a young couple gets the deal of a lifetime on a downtown home that quickly turns from their dream house into their worst nightmare. • "...What if Sallie and that woman were the same thing? All part of the same evil inside that house..."

A quote from today's second of two tales. Our first tale is the story of a single mother and her young son who have an unfortunate encounter with the Hat Man. Our second story takes us to Atchison Kansas's Sallie House - billed as the most haunted house in America. Is it? Listen and find out. As always - hope these stories leaving you feeling scared to death!

  • "...in order to keep being protected, they had to pay a Satanic toll of sacrificial blood and human souls..."

A quote from today's second of two Satanic tales. Our first story is one of a young Wiccan who believes that four decades ago he followed his curiosity about the dark side of the occult straight into Hell itself. Our second story goes over some very spooky and real crime details revolving around a small group of Satanists who sacrificed at least three women to Lucifer in some haunted woods near Fall River, Massachusetts in 1979 and 1980. Hope both tales leave you Scared to Death. Happy Halloween!!

  • "...late one night, laying in his bed, surrounded by that strange oppressive feeling... a new source of fear emerged from the darkness..."

A quote from today's second tale. Our first story offers a further explanation of one of the items in our studio - a Dybbuk box. I'll explain the historical basis for this box and I’ll also share a modern tale involving this ancient monster trapper. Our second story involves a young boy who witnessed the terrible death of a stranger, and then appears to have been either haunted by the angry spirit of that unfortunate man or by some other dark entity that preyed on his memory of that gruesome death in order to inflict further psychological harm. Hope both tales leave you Scared to Death!

  • "The face of the woman inched towards her own as if it would soon open its mouth and devour her. Beatrice closed her eyes and began to pray..."

A quote from today's first tale - the exploration of the possibility that perhaps some apparitions are not the remnants of the once living, but the psychic projection of the still alive. Was a Cornish woman named Beatrice somehow presented with a vision of an evil encounter that had never happened but would years later? Our second story is the tale of Kentucky's Carl Pruitt, the "Chain Strangler." Urban legend or real revenant? A mixture of both? If a ghost can go bump in the night, or turn off a light, or move items around a room - can it also kill you? • "He awoke in the middle of the night to what he described as 'a man with big black eyes, a thin face with animal features and jagged teeth, pointed ears, horns, and hoofs' standing above him..."

A quote from today's second tale - the "Devil Made Me Do It" demonic possession of both David Glatzel and Arne Johnson in 1981 that ended in another man's murder. Our first tale is "The Northfleet Horror," a story of an incredible amount of malevolent poltergeist activity that caused three separate families to move out of a building in Northfleet, England in 1962. • "Meanwhile, Robbie continued to use his Ouija board, a board he now hid from his family, to talk to his aunt Harriet and her new “friends."

A quote from today's second tale - the exorcism of Robbie Mannheim aka Roland Doe (his real name remains hidden), the story that inspired the infamous 1973 horror film, "The Exorcist." A fourteen-year-old used his Ouija board to try and contact his deceased and beloved aunt after her death in 1949. And he did seem to contact "something." What was it? • "Each murder victim had been killed the same way, with a single and a powerful blow with the mattock to the head."

A quote from today's second tale - the Hinterkaifeck Farm family mass-murder mystery of 1922. Did something or someone hide in the Hinterkaifeck family's attic for roughly six months before killing the five members of the Hinterkaifeck family living there and their new maid with a German pickaxe? • The alien abduction of Amy Ryland and the demonic possession of Michael Taylor for the first episode of Scared to Death! Where is Amy Ryland? She hasn't been seen since shortly after reportedly being abducted from Gundiah, Australia, in 2001. And where is Michael Taylor? He for sure brutally killed his wife in England in 1974. And then he was imprisoned in mental health facilities for just four years and released. Did demons trick him into murdering the mother of his children? Is he still possessed today? Let's get spooky. They would last less than a month in this aggressively haunted house. Our second tale is one man's account of a run-in with two black-eyed children. • SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING

Dan kicks off the show with the haunted lore that surrounds Kentucky’s Bobby Mackey’s Music World. This place is so infamously haunted, Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventures team explored if for the series premiere of their incredibly popular ghost hunting show. Do several different ghosts - and possibly some demons as well - haunt an old honky tonk bar that sits on the grounds of a one time slaughterhouse and mafia hotspot? Then, Next, the very unusual story of Audrey Marie Santo. Was this poor girl some kind of vessel for paranormal - perhaps even heavenly - activity?

Lynze's first tale is not only about shadow people. It's also about the hat man. And what happens when the shadow people and the hat man team up. Continuing with dreams blending into reality, story two will have you wondering if dreams really do come true, in the paranormal sense. In the third and final fan story for this week, Lynze shares an empowering tale of putting a stinky, smoker ghost in his place.

Dan kicks off this episode of Scared To Death with the lore of the Boo Hag or the Old Hag Syndrome. Is this a terrifying experince that can be explained away by sleep paralysis or is it more sinister than that? Then we are headed to the border for a collection of short stories about various encounters with spirits and sightings. Lynze finishes up the show with a tale of one woman's connection to the other side as it pertains to her co-habitants at the nursing home she resides in. She also has a tale about dreams and what may come to us in our dreams- is it real or is it a shared experience or is it just a dream?

Bad Magic Productions Monthly Patreon Donation: This months charity donation is going to Camp Easton, a boy scouts camp here in CDA. Camp Easton is where we are hosting our Wet Hot Bad Magic Summer Camp!! We are donating $15,400 to them and putting $2000 into the scholarship fund! While visiting the location on many occasions, I have come to know some of the staff and hear about the needs of the camp. As with all places that are host to camps, they have a laundry list of repairs and upgrades that would be incredibly beneficial!

Standup: If you want to see a very different side of Dan than you see here and possibly see Lynze in the crowd, his Symphony of Insanity standup tour will be back this fall. Go to dancummins.tv for ticket links to shows in Nashville, Palm Beach, Portland and MORE!!

Thank you for continuing to send in your stories, Creeps and Peepers!

    Opening Sumerian protection spell (adapted):
"Whether thou art a ghost that hath come from the earth, or a phantom of night that hath no home… or one that lieth dead in the desert… or a ghost unburied… or a demon or a ghoul… Whatever thou be until thou art removed… thou shalt find here no water to drink… Thou shalt not stretch forth thy hand to our own… Into our house enter thou not. Through our fence, breakthrough thou not… we are protected though we may be frightened. Our life you may not steal, though we may feel SCARED TO DEATH."

  • SCARED TO DEATH IS EXPLICIT IN EVERY WAY. PLEASE TAKE CARE WHILE LISTENING.

The first of Dan's stories is a very strange urban legend that someone posting a modern encounter story thinks is all too real. The strange, twisted legend of Kansas’s Hamburger Man. For the second story, we explore the rich paranormal history of Cornwall, England’s Bodmin Moor, focusing mainly on the old Bodmin Jail located at the edge of this large, preserved, mostly undeveloped land expanse of land. Lynze shares two spoopy tales too! Her first one explores the age old concept of making a deal with the devil. It's a bizarre tale and will make you scratch your head, for sure. Finishing out this weeks episode is haunted college campus. We haven't a haunted campus in quite some time, this one is fun!

  • "She quickly realized…. something was circling her and Crina. Something that moved through the woods way faster than a human could..."

A quote from today's first tale. We start with a look into Hoia Baciu - Romania's most haunted forest. So many tales of strange disappearances, UFO sightings, paranormal encounters, strange episodes of missing time, and more have been so frequently reported, the forest has acquired the nickname, "The Bermuda Triangle of Romania.” For our second story, we look into the infamous alien abduction of Betty and Barney Hill. Is their tale based on nothing more than false memories induced via hypnosis, or, were they really abducted and examined by extraterrestrials? And then Lynze shares two creepy listener tales.
