Have you heard about grass fed beef? There's an image of the idyllic cows roaming green grasses that comes to mind and the messaging behind grass fed meat is one of enviromental positivity, but is it true? Today environmental scientist and Harvard Farmed Animal Law & Policy Fellow, Matthew Hayek is on to talk about his new research into the sustainability of grass fed beef. We also touch on the terms sustainable, ethical, and humane- are they marketing or reality? Is lab grown meat sustainable? And the big 'p' word, protein, even comes up in today's pod.
PS. We didn't touch on the cruelty that takes place inside the factory farms, grass fed farms, and any animal raising facility in today's episode. This episode was purely focused on the environmental aspect, more to come about the cruelty aspect in the future & there's plenty of past LP pods that focus on the topic of ethics.

Austin Aries is a vegan phenom! He's wrestled for WWE. He’s been in a match at WrestleMania, won championships across the world and become one of the well-known professional wrestlers today. But his biggest accomplishment is adopting a plant-based diet after growing up in the dairy capital of the United States. He was born in Wisconsin, where people are so devoted to dairy they put cheese wedges on top of their head!
In this special episode, he and "The Weight Loss Champion" Chuck Carroll talk about his motivation for making the dietary change and the effect that it has had on his career. Even though he turned 40 years old, Aries is in the prime of his career and still wrestling as if he was in his mid-20’s. He credits much of that to eating a plant-based diet.
You’ll also learn his secrets for keeping it healthy while on the road for hundreds of days each year. Anyone can benefit from these tips!
This show was taped live at Café of India in Washington, DC.

We’re back! We wish we were still on the sun lounger, but here we are, at your disposal - with a giant book chat of what we have enjoyed in the last month.
Also today, we discuss the social media trolling of the late Sinéad McNamara and Instagram influencer Scarlett Dixon; and Celebrity Big Brother’s biggest controversy yet - after soap actor Roxanne Pallet accused fellow contestant and actor Ryan Thomas of assault, which footage revealed to have never happened. The fall-out has been swift; Roxanne has described herself as “the most hated person in Britain.” But when does criticism morph into crucifixion? When will we stop trying to ‘cancel’ or ‘delete’ people - particularly women - from public consciousness? And how do Roxanne’s allegations damage the #MeToo movement?

Ben developed the idea for Plant Based World Conference and Expo as a result of his own drastic transition to a plant-based lifestyle and earnest desire to make the world a better place.
The expo is set to take place in June of 2019 and will serve as a place where plant-based product manufacturers, food service providers, retailers, entrepreneurs, investors, healthcare professionals and consumers alike can receive education, high level networking opportunities and the most up to date innovations in plant-based living. The expo has already garnered the support of leading organizations in the space, such as Good Food Institute and the Plant-Based Foods Association, and will tackle issues that are relevant to the industry and movement.
In this conversation, Ben and I get into why this expo is needed and dive deeper into what he hopes this sort of conference will achieve. If you are interested in the world plant-based food and are looking to learn more about this incredible event as well as much more, listen in!
