🍿What happens when a classic movie fan visits Paris?
During a recent trip to France, I set out to track down filming locations from Elevator to the Gallows (1958), Louis Malle's landmark French New Wave crime thriller starring Jeanne Moreau. I visited two of the film's original locations, compared them to how they look today, and explored how the movie transformed ordinary Paris streets into unforgettable cinema.
Along the way, I visited a restaurant tied to one of the film's most memorable scenes, a beautiful location near the Eiffel Tower, and gained a new appreciation for how filmmakers use real-world locations to tell their stories.
If you enjoy classic movies, film noir, French cinema, or movie-location travel, join me for this cinematic walk through Paris.
Be sure to check out my full review of Elevator to the Gallows (1958) and my other videos on classic films from around the world. 🍿

🍿A mysterious Christmas Eve visitor, a missing war buddy, and a murder investigation collide in Backfire (1950), one of the more unusual entries in the film noir genre. In this review, we break down the film's complex flashback structure, its strengths and weaknesses as a B-movie noir, and the performances of Edmond O'Brien, Virginia Mayo, and Viveca Lindfors. We also explore the surprising real-world connection to World War II that inspired part of the story, including the remarkable events surrounding Castle Itter in Austria. Whether you're a longtime noir fan or discovering this forgotten classic for the first time, this review offers plenty to discuss. Be sure to like, subscribe, and share your thoughts below. 🍿

⭐Between Midnight and Dawn (1950) - Buddy-Cop Film Noir ⭐
🍿Two patrol cops, one radio dispatcher, and a city that never sleeps. Between Midnight and Dawn (1950) is an early Classic Film Noir that hints at the buddy-cop genre a decade before it became standard. In this review, we break down Edmond O'Brien's gruff, obsessive performance, Mark Stevens' more relaxed partner, and why Gale Storm's wholesome presence feels at odds with the film's brutality. We explore the film's violence, police procedure, wartime bonds, and its uneasy blend of romance and cynicism, as well as why the gangsters never feel fully developed. If you love classic crime films and overlooked noir, stick around—and don't forget to like and subscribe.🍿
