Digby then joins, as she, Sam, and Emma dive right into the genuine danger between the lines of absurdity in the Trump Administration’s Signal scandal, from the clear sign that they’re moving away from official (documented) channels to the executive role being played by psycho-White nationalist Stephen Miller. After expanding on the horrifying aesthetic role Donald Trump is playing in the administration, and the tightening of the inner circle in Trump 2.0, Parton reflects on the genuine shock over how quickly US institutions folded to the threat of fascism, from Columbia to corporations to major law firms, and tackles the deliberate nature of the Trump Administration’s agenda of economic chaos, before wrapping up by touching on the few remaining levers of power Democrats have to push back against fascism.
And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch as the Trump Cabinet take various unique paths to avoid any questions about the ongoing Signal Scandal, Marco Rubio unpacks exactly why due process doesn’t matter, and Josh Hawley goes insane over the right to disappear student activists. Noah Kulwin then joins, first touching on his experience taking part in the JVP protest at Trump Tower in New York over the Trump Administration’s disappearing of Columbia student activist Mahmoud Khalil, before diving deeper into the clear and thorough connection between the US’ support for fascism abroad and the descent into fascism at home, as we watch Israel resume its genocide on the Palestinian people while legal residents are picked up off the street by plain-clothes officers over pro-Palestinian speech – a Tufts student the most recent. Expanding on the global context for our current moment, Kulwin also touches on the particular role of the War on Terror in bolstering the rapid expansion of our surveillance state amid xenophobic, nationalist fervor. After expanding on the role of Jewish organizing in standing up to this fascist crackdown, Noah wraps up by emphasizing the need to Get Organized! what that means, and how to go about it at this moment. After briefly touching on the Mega Marcha, a demonstration against the Trump administration’s immigration policies, being held in Dallas this Saturday – which our planned second guest, Domingo García, chairman of the political arm of the League of United Latin American Citizens, helped organize – they wrap up the free half by highlighting Kristi Noam’s insane fascist photo-op outside of a migrant cell in El Salvador.

First, Sam runs through updates on the Trump Administration’s Signal scandal over their accidental leaking of war plans, the Supreme Court’s affirmation of Biden’s ghost gun regulations, Pennsylvania’s special election, the HHS’s anti-vaxxer-headed study on autism, trickling details about the legal status of certain Venezuelans renditioned to El Salvador, Trump/Musk’s plan to lay off thousands from the Treasury, the Senate GOP’s budget, JD Vance’s visit to Greenland, SpaceX’s secret Chinese backers, and Trump’s nomination for Social Security head, before diving into some of the biggest updates to the Trump team’s Signal scandal with the full release of messages after Tusli Gabbard’s claim that there was “no classified” information in the chat. Joel Lava then joins, diving right into the idea behind the wildly successful “Tesla Takedown” protests in attempting to undercut the overwhelming political power by hitting at its root: his massive wealth tied up in Tesla stocks. After expanding on the greater anti-Trump roots of this, Lava and Sam unpack the protests' goals and how far the stock would have to fall to really screw over Elon’s business ventures, wrapping up with how you can join a protest near you – or even start your own! Mase Veney then dives into his personal history working at Whole Foods in Philadelphia, the initial bonding between coworkers over their shared experiences of mistreatment and the company’s exploitation of the power imbalance, and the rapid evolution of the organizing process once he and his coworkers realized the overwhelming support the idea of unionization already had, quickly moving to work with United Food & Commercial Workers International to capitalize on their institutional knowledge of organizing within the grocery industry. After expanding on the important role UFCW played in helping them win the union vote with a strong majority, Veney and Sam shift into the Trump era, as they unpack how the company’s refusal to recognize the union is bolstered by a neutered NLRB and a hostile Trump Administration, before wrapping up the interview by emphasizing the continuing campaign to keep the all coworkers invested in the fight, and how those of us outside can support the effort!

Ben Wikler, Chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, joins to discuss the critical Wisconsin Supreme Court race. Then, Ezra Levin, co-founder of Indivisible, examines the direction and leadership of the Democratic Party. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the shuttering of USAID, Russia-Ukraine ceasefire negotiations, Israel’s revamped assault on Gaza, the DOJ’s refusal to answer for its illegal deportations, Trump’s killing of FTC operations, the gutting of the SSA, the abduction of Mahmoud Khalil, Trump’s attempt to re-segregate, the Fed not to cut rates, the release of the JFK Files, GOP Sen. Eichorn’s confirmation of pedocon theory, and HHS’s gutting of HIV prevention, also highlighting Schumer’s ongoing shame tour and the ongoing backlash the GOP’s facing at their town halls. After diving deep into the particular role the Conservative majority on the State Supreme Court played in bolstering the unparalleled executive power of Governor Scott Walker, and how a revamped focus on the Court helped begin the Democrats’ slow crawl back into control, Wikler zeroes in on the ongoing State Supreme Court race between Brad Schimel – dedicated MAGA-Musker – and Susan Crawford, exploring the insane multi-million dollar investment into Schimel by Elon Musk, including blatantly illegal propaganda misrepresenting both his own organization and the candidates, wrapping up by emphasizing the importance of tying the entire conservative movement to the MAGA/Musk agenda they support, and exploring what those of us on the outside can do to help. Ezra Levin then joins, first running through the inception of Indivisible in the wake of the 2016 elections to combat the heinous agenda of Donald Trump and address the vacuum in Democratic leadership, before diving deep into the culmination of this effort, with last week’s failure by Democratic Leadership in the Senate to stand up against the Trump/Musk budget seeing an unprecedented level of backlash, with their caucus, House Leadership, and the mainstream media all leveling blunt questions of Chuck Schumer. Levin, Sam, and Emma parse through a few of Schumer’s recent TV appearances, as they dissect his utter strategic failures in using leverage in their fight with the GOP or in working with fellow Democrats, before wrapping up by tackling the future of this fight as Democrats look to find other pathways for messaging, and what those of us at home can do to help Indivisible’s fight.

It's an EmMajority Report Thursday! Emma speaks with David McWilliams, Irish economist and writer, to discuss Trump's interest in the presidency of William McKinley. Then, she speaks with Lily Greenberg Call, former political appointee in the Biden administration, to discuss the recent developments in the detention of Mahmoud Khalil. First, Emma runs through updates on the Senate’s vote on cloture and the Continuing Resolution, Trump’s mass layoffs, the gutting of the DOE, Trump’s trade war with Europe, the falling stock market, Trump’s failed nomination for CDC director, Tim Walz’s political tour, the UN’s independent inquiry into Israel’s genocide, the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Mayor of Miami’s crackdown on free speech, and the attack on the IRS, before expanding on the ongoing fight within the US Senate to block the GOP’s partisan Continuing Resolution which would effectively neuter Congress amid Trump’s reign, and watching Markwayne Mullin accidentally give away the game on Trump’s tariff war. David McWilliams then dives right into the historical context for Trump’s obsession with William McKinley – 25th President of the United States – highlighting how the election of McKinley in 1896 served as a major turning point in the evolution of the Gilded Age, as a culmination of a populist push against growing economic consolidation amid increasing culture war and a rapidly growing (and changing) working class with an influx of European immigration, and the very clear parallels with how Trump is handling the similarities in this moment, from his alignment with the monopolists and oligarchs of the time, to his obsession with small territorial acquisitions while pushing an isolaitonist economic agenda. After touching on the end to McKinley with his assassination in 1901 and the major role his Vice President Teddy Roosevelt would play in pushing back against the political takeover of robber barons and monopolists, putting a bit of a damper on potential parallels to the Big Tech-backed JD Vance, McWilliams walks Emma through McKinley’s expansive project to bolster the pockets of his wealthy donors, from cementing the shift to a gold standard (crypto reserve anyone?!) and bolstering rail monopoly at the expense of America’s farming majority, to the inception of lobbying with the backing of his 1896 campaign by notorious businessman Mark Hanna (Musk), who would rally the wealthy elite behind McKinley to change the facts on the ground. Having briefly expanded on McKinley’s imperial agenda, and the particular role it plays in creating an atmosphere of chaos to mask the kleptocracy at work, David looks to the extreme lengths Trump has taken McKinley tariff regime, applying them to quite literally every close ally the US has in such a drastic manner it offers little explanation outside of in-group speculation while the economy as a whole collapses. They wrap up the interview by touching on the role McKinleyism and the Gilded Age played in spurring the emergence of the US labor movement under FDR. Lily Greenberg-Call then joins as she and Emma parse through the abduction and detainment of Columbia University activist and Greencard holder/permanent US resident Mahmoud Khalil over his speech in support of a free Palestine, reflecting on the vast distance between the response Chuck Schumer gave – largely defending Israel and denouncing Khalil’s speech – and that of Chris Murphy – who cites the criminalization of speech that goes against Trump’s agenda in contrast with the happy embrace of explicitly Nazi speech. Next, they dissect the particularly disgusting way in which antisemitism has been abused over this fight, from the White House’s explicit references to judaism in their flaunting of this authoritarian overstep, to the fact that the statute they’re using to defend their action is grounded in the antisemitic McCarthyist movement, and the value of seeing Jewish Americans stand up and fight for Mahmoud Khalil’s rights, wrapping up the interview by emphasizing the need to keep that momentum going, showing up in the streets to fight for Khalil and any other victims of the Trump regime.
And in the Fun Half: Emma is joined by Brandon Sutton and Matt Binder as they unpack dweebs Tim Pool and Russell Brand’s fear of a real punk rock lifestyle (shoutout Against Me!), before talking to Rob from DC about calling our Senators. It's News Day Tuesday! Sam and Emma speak with Lindsey Boylan, former government official, to discuss Andrew Cuomo's recent announcement that he'll be running for Mayor of New York. First, they run through updates on Trump’s trade war and the related economic turmoil, the GOP’s impending government shutdown, the attempted deportation of Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, Ukraine’s offensive on Moscow, Rubio’s small ask to Ukraine (give up your land to Russia), the NIH’s anti-vax pivot as RFK blames measles on nutrition, Trump’s attacks on the ACA, SCOTUS’ approach to conversion therapy bans, legal pushback to DOGE and OPM, and the dropping net work of Trump’s billionaire backers, before expanding on the incredible showing in support of Mahmoud Khalil at Foley Square in NYC yesterday, contrasted with Long Island politician Bruce Blakeman attempt to push blatantly false, islamophobic conspiracy, with no evidence to back himself up. Lindsey Boylan then joins, first walking through her own background working former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, beginning in 2016 and making her way up to a senior member of his team and special advisor, all while Cuomo consistently exercised his station to maintain a culture of sexual harrassment and exploitation, tackling her own experiences with Cuomo’s sexual misconduct. After briefly jumping back to today to unpack the astonishing embrace of (or, at least, acquiesence to) Andrew Cuomo by New York politicians in the wake of his announced campaign for Mayor, Boylan, Sam, and Emma dive deep into the extensive investigations into Cuomo’s administration by the city, state, and federal government, all of which confirmed a minimum of a dozen victims of Cuomo’s abuses, and how the following suits from his victims – including both a woman younger than his daughters and the state trooper charged with taking a bullet for him – has resulted in Cuomo leveling $60 million of taxpayer money to harrass, demean, and discredit his accusers and their families. Lindsey ealso xplores Cuomo’s still-existent path to victory in his fight against accountability, with Cuomo using America’s refusal to address sexual harrassment beyond civil charges to further discredit these cases, while the campaign of lawfare and public harrassment continues with little-to-no pushback from the Democratic establishment, wrapping up by touching on the importance of leaving the former governor off of your fully-ranked ballot in the NYC primary this year.
And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma struggle to empathize with Elon Musk’s multi-billion dollar losses and ongoing business struggles amid his attempted takeover of the US government, before watching Newsmax host Rob Schmitt attempt to defend Trump’s economic turmoil. Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Dr. Keon West, visiting professor of political science at the London School of Economics, to discuss his recent book The Science of Racism: Everything You Need To Know But Probably Don't-Yet. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on the Canadian prime ministership, the GOP’s impending government shutdown, Trump’s attack on Columbia University, Columbia University’s wilful aiding of Trump’s disappearing of a student activist, Israel’s cutting of electricity o Gaza, Canadian tariffs, Trump’s egg problem, Trump’s recession problem, the Trump administration’s legal woes, DOGE’s unsurprising attack on Child Support, and the continuing spread of measles, also highlighting the Trump Administration’s attempts to preemptively defend the recession and economic chaos they are about to reign on the US (and the world). Dr. Keon West then joins, diving right into his data-driven approach to highlighting the existence of racism, and how we can (and have) run experiments to test for differential treatment on the grounds of race (and nothing but race), highlighting various experiments displaying blantant racial descrimination in hiring practices, pre-elementary child education, and the medical industry, as he, Sam, and Emma walk through the minimal role the race of the descriminator plays in these situations, and why, despite mainstream narratives, many of the biases being displayed are concious and active. After expanding the conversation to include the extensive data behind the racial descrimination in contemporary American policing, and unpacking the lie of the “Black on Black crime” narrative, Dr. West steps back to tackle the ebb and flow of racial descrimination over time, with the last four hundred years seeing a drastic evolution in racial biases, tracing periods of particularly extreme racism to both economic straing and the platforming and normalization of this bigotry by sociopolitical leaders. Dr. Keon West, Sam, and Emma also discuss the importance of centering on society’s overwhelming discomfort with racism (even when exercising it), what it means to do something about racism, and what to make of the fraudulant attacks on the admittedly problematic policy of DEI, before wrapping up by highlighting the role of clear data analysis – rather than vague appeals to authority – in helping push people away from bigotry.
And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch the Right-wing media apparatus explain exactly why skyrocketing egg prices aren’t Trump’s fault – unfortunately contradicting much of their coverage over the last few years – also tackling Trump’s attack on the law firms attempting to challenge him, and the GOP’s ongoing push to pass a continuing resolution that would allow them to make cuts to the budget without negotiation. They also parse through Democratic leadership’s ongoing struggle to act like an opposition party, contrasting the likes of Schumer and Jeffries with Bernie’s astoundingly successful tour campaigning against the Trump Administration, before highlighting the Trump Adminstration’s disappearing of a permanent US resident (with some help from Columbia University) and Gov Newsome’s recent bigoted-bridge-building session with Charlie Kirk, with some help from Emma’s apperance on MSNBC over this weekend. After briefly fact-checking Jimmy Dore’s recent climate-denial musings, they wrap up by touching on the potential hacking of Twitter by activist group Anonymous, plus, your IMs!

It's Hump Day! Sam and Emma speak with Adam Green, co-founder of the Progressive Change Campaign Committee (PCCC), to recap Trump's joint address to Congress from last night. Then, they're joined by Saikat Chakrabarti, candidate for Congress in California's 11th district, to give some updates on his campaign. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Trump’s speech to a joint session of Congress, Trump’s attempted USAID shutdown, US aid to Ukraine, Blackrock’s new move on Panama Canal, Trump’s IRS cutdown, the firesale of federal properties, Trump v. judges, and OPM’s mismanagement, before expanding on Democrats’ varying protest tactics during Trump’s speech last night, with a highlight on Rep. Al Green’s message to get your hands off Medicaid. Adam Green then joins, jumping right into the complete fear of Democratic leadership to simply act, in any substantive manner, to stop or obstruct the Trump Administration, tackling leadership’s seeming inability to understand the threat his regime poses to the future of democratic governance in the US, and unpacking what the productive work of Democratic representatives has looked like. After diving deep into Trump’s insane breadth of Social Security lies that he fit into his joint session last night, and the direct contrasts we see between this ongoing fight and those under Bush (in 2005) and Obama (in 2013), Green also explores the strong disciplining force of Elon’s legitimate threat to primary any Republican that goes against Trump, something very much reflected in Trump’s own treatment of US allies. Next, Adam, Sam, and Emma parse through the ideal strategies moving forward, including emphasizing the GOP’s departure from their voters’ desires, the complete overstepping – both legally and financially – of Elon Musk, and the incredible devastation Trump’s funding freeze and mass firings have had on our federal workers, wrapping up the interview by discussing a theoretical “progressive” version of the Laken Riley Act. Saikat Chakrabarti then walks Sam and Emma through the trajectory of his career in Democratic politics, beginning with Bernie in 2016 and helping to run AOC’s campaign amid a push for a growing progressive movement, as he explores the mainstream Democratic Party’s ongoing failure over the last decade to offer any transformative vision amid a rocketing cost of living, rampant inequality, and a growing fascist movement. After expanding on the parallels we see with the rise of fascism amid the inequality and crises of the 1930s, Chakrabarti looks to the modern day as he unpacks an ongoing push to expand the fight to unseat status-quo-oriented Democratic Leadership like Nancy Pelosi, and how we can support that effort!
And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch Trump and Chief Justice John Roberts shove the subtlety to the side as they celebrate their successful coup, reflect on Dan Bongino and Pete Hegseth’s previous musings on the “leftist” investment firm Blackrock now that they’re teaming up to take over the Panama Canal, and Josh in San Diego asks how to address the Democratic inclination to punch left. Tim Walz shows Democratic leadership how to set an agenda (and a narrative), Leftist Big Pharma Plus unpacks Trump’s changes to the US healthcare apparatus and student debt, and Fox News solves the egg crisis (buy chickens, raise them at home). David from Spain on the recent evolution of fascism in the US and Spain, Ricky from San Diego on Chinese labor relations, and Mike from Colorado on messaging to mainstream Dems. The MR Crew also parses through Elisa Slotkin’s telling Democratic response to Trump, lifting up noted proponents of democracy and liberalism, Ronald Reagan and George W. Happy Monday! Sam and Emma speak with Van Jackson, senior lecturer in international relations at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand and writer of the Un-Diplomatic newsletter on SubStack, to discuss his recent book The Rivalry Peril: How Great-Power Competition Threatens Peace and Weakens Democracy, co-authored with Michael Brenes. First, Sam and Emma run through updates on Trump’s tariffs on Mexico and Canada, fallout from the Trump/Vance confrontation with Zelenskyy, Trump’s attempt to cook the books on the US GDP, Trump’s newest crypto scam, US-based money laundering, RFK’s measles dance, Marco Rubio’s billions for Israel, Trump assault on Social Security, the DHS’ IRS scheme, and the Mayoral Campaign of noted sex pest Andrew Cuomo, also admiring the full-throated spinelessness of GOP representatives Kieth Self and Roger Marshall when faced with constituent backlash at Town Halls. Van Jackson then joins, diving right into the effective myth the US has built up around the Cold War as a beneficial struggle between two great powers, a belief central to the evolution of the US’ counter-insurgency-focused regime of primacy that has developed in the power vacuum left by the Soviet Union, and why the US Foreign policy apparatus has been so resolute, from the Cheneys to the Biden Administration, in pivoting to a new great power struggle with China. Expanding on this, Jackson walks through the last couple of decades of US-China hawkery, with the shrinking dividends of Neoliberal globalization pushing both the US and Chinese economies toward economic nationalism, with the US establishment frantically attempting to cling to a dying world order of complete US primacy, as it corrupts and reshapes our politics domestically while contributing to death and destruction globally. After tackling how the Trump to Biden to Trump 2.0 pipeline effectively streamlined the US’ commitment to an anti-China pivot, and why Trump’s buddies in Silicon Valley are set to benefit greatly from this tension, Van, Sam, and Emma wrap up by touching on the greater imperialist nature of Trump’s foreign policy, and why US-Chinese relations have trapped much of the developing world into choosing between Chinese lending power and American hegemony.
And in the Fun Half: Sam and Emma watch the new state-backed-media (the Joe Rogan Experience) clear the stage to let Elon Musk lie to the American public about what the Trump/Musk regime is up to (and why), and listen to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s boytoy attempt to confront Zelenskyy about his fashion sense.
