  • Y'all. Wednesday was not a weird day for this administration. It was a normal day, and that is the whole problem.

Donald Trump canceled a bipartisan housing bill that would have lowered rent for millions of people. He killed the signing ceremony hours before it happened because he wants Congress to pass the SAVE Act first. That is voter suppression dressed up as a national emergency. He is holding your housing relief hostage. And his own supporters are in the replies typing thank you, daddy like that is a normal response to a man torching your rent relief.

Same day he got into a screaming match with a Republican senator, called him a lunatic, then asked Congress for another eighty seven point six billion dollars for his Iran war that nobody voted for and that even Tucker Carlson is now calling him weak over. He threw himself a Ferris wheel party on the National Mall for America's two hundred fiftieth birthday while the Reflecting Pool stayed green behind him. The Supreme Court handed him a win that makes it easier to strand asylum seekers in danger over a technicality about which side of an imaginary line their toes are touching. My home state of Tennessee put up a granite headstone for fetuses on the Capitol lawn while ranking forty seventh in the country at keeping actual mothers alive.

And the Democrats spent the week calling the candidates their own voters are actually excited about dirtbags.

This episode goes through every receipt. The housing bill hostage situation. The court losses that forced him to Plan B. The Iran war bill. The self inflicted birthday party. The Supreme Court rulings that will get people killed. Tennessee's monument to control. And why the Democratic establishment is more afraid of its own base than it is of any of this.

    Let's go.

  • This was not a normal bad week. This was the week a bunch of people who spent years pretending the emperor had clothes all looked up at the same time and went, oh no.

We open where the country opened: a rotting reflecting pool. A no-bid, $14.5 million renovation that bloomed bright green algae and peeled its custom "American Flag Blue" paint into the water, fixed with hydrogen peroxide that made it worse, then sold to the public as sabotage. Box cutters. A 350-foot slit that grew sixty feet mid-sentence. Five arrests over a pond.

From there it only gets worse for him. Three federal courts ruled against this administration in a single Monday, on voter data, food assistance, and the retaliatory subpoenas aimed at Tim Walz, where a Bush-appointed judge used the word "risible." JD Vance flew to Switzerland to sell an Iran deal and got fact-checked and snubbed by Iran in real time. An Israeli cabinet minister told a country of six million to burn, and a platform called it a public service. Tucker Carlson quit the Republican Party. The Senate openly turned on him. Ken Paxton discovered he loves IVF the same week his own party voted to ban it. And Tulsi Gabbard cleaned out her desk by lobbing one more pre-pardoned Fauci grenade on the way out.

Every story this week is the same story. Botch something, refuse to own it, invent an enemy, point the state at whoever's standing closest. We connect the dots, name the systems, and separate what's confirmed from what's spin.

I'm Robin. This is We Saw the Devil. Go read the ruling. Page one, it's laughable.

  • The most powerful man on the planet is eighty, bruised, posting in the dozens at 3 a.m., and nodding off by the afternoon. His Secretary of State looked at a video of him asleep and told Congress he was awake. Thirty-six doctors signed a warning into the Congressional Record and nothing happened. And every single person close enough to know the truth has a paycheck, a seat, or a legacy riding on telling you he's fine. This week Robin takes apart the machine built to keep you from knowing whether the guy with the nuclear codes still has a working brain. This is not armchair neurology and Robin does not diagnose anyone.

The story is the concealment: who hides presidential decline, who profits, and why America has no honest way to force the truth out of people who would rather you stayed confused and polite. Not a diagnosis. A cover-up.

  • In **The Show Above. The Damage Below: How the Cage Hid the Crime Scene**, **We Saw the Devil** looks at what was happening underneath the spectacle of Trump’s White House cage-fight event.

The fight night was sold as patriotic entertainment, but the real story was never just the cage. This episode tracks how political spectacle works: keep the audience focused on the lights, the microphones, the slogans, and the outrage while the machinery underneath keeps moving.

Robin breaks down the White House UFC-style event, the racist and transphobic attack on Michelle Obama, the silence from the Trump administration, Bud Light’s corporate cowardice, and the broader pattern of cruelty being treated as entertainment.

From there, the episode follows the damage below: the secretive Iran ceasefire deal, Congress being kept out of the loop, the weaponized Department of Justice, charges against Minnesota protesters, federal agents escaping accountability, attacks on civil rights protections, DHS election concerns, healthcare denial, medical debt, and the public rage surrounding UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, and Luigi Mangione.

This is an episode about authoritarian spectacle, Trumpism, political distraction, corporate silence, healthcare profiteering, voter control, civil rights, protest repression, and the systems people are encouraged not to notice.

**Topics include:** Trump, White House UFC event, Freedom 250, The Show Above. The Damage Below, How the Cage Hid the Crime Scene, Michelle Obama, Bud Light, Dana White, Joe Rogan, Josh Hokit, Iran ceasefire deal, war powers, Department of Justice, DOJ retaliation, James Comey, Letitia James, Gavin Newsom, Minnesota protests, ICE raids, Department of Education, disabled students, civil rights protections, DHS, election security, UnitedHealthcare, Brian Thompson, Luigi Mangione, healthcare denial, medical debt, authoritarianism, American politics, propaganda, and political spectacle.

**We Saw the Devil** covers power, propaganda, corruption, authoritarianism, extremism, media spectacle, and American politics.

  • America was supposed to turn 250 this year. One man turned it into his own 80th birthday party instead: a cage fight on the people's lawn, a beer sponsor, party lights bright enough to blind a pilot on approach, and a twelve-thousand-dollar coin with his face on one side and We the People on the other.

    Lyrics:

    South Lawn's got a ninety-foot claw
Eighty-seven-foot cage where the rose garden was
Bud Light logos on every wall
Monster Energy sign bigger than God
    Seventy-nine going on eighty
Turns the whole country into his birthday party
    Pay-per-view, eight-ninety-nine a month
While pilots scream "I can't see the runway, cunt!"

They said it was America's two-fifty
But it's just one old man and his UFC grift
    Commodores bailed, Young MC dipped
Vanilla Ice is the only one left on the ship

    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
His face on the coin, We the People on the back!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Autopen signed it, he was too busy to sign!
You turned the Mall into a parking lot brawl
And called it freedom, you senile asshole!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Happy birthday to you, America's gone!

Ring girls in flag bikinis on Flag Day
Violating federal code in the most American way
"Respect the flag!" they screamed for ten years straight
Now it's ass cheeks and stars on the Octagon Girls stage
Crypto dot com and Bud Light holding hands
TKO stock in the president's pants
Sixty million dollars, seven agencies deep
While North Carolina can't afford to show up and weep

They starved the real commission, funneled the cash
To a cage fight and a coin with his face on the stash
    Eleven-thousand-nine-hundred-and-ninety-nine
For a chunk of gold that's worth half that time

    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
His face on the coin, We the People on the back!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Autopen signed it, he was too busy to sign!
You blinded the pilots over Reagan at night
Sixty-seven died there, but the lights were too bright!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
Happy birthday to you, America's gone!

    Jane Fonda's eighty-eight throwing a real show
Patti Smith, Bette Midler, five thousand rooms saying NO
While you're in a chair watching men grapple for cash
On ground soaked in marches and blood from the past
They tore up the reflecting pool like it was nothing
Made the Washington Monument your corporate backdrop
You wanted your name on the Kennedy Center too
Judge said "scrape it off" and thirty-five thousand cheered while it flew

    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
We the People are watching you lose!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
    Your grift's showing, motherfucker, choose!
Bud Light cage, Monster sign, coin made of shame
States walked out, musicians bailed, only the grifters remained!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
This ain't a birthday, this is a con!
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!
We're burning it down before the next one!

Happy two hundred and fifty, you geriatric clown
    The cage comes down Monday
But the receipts? They're staying around.
    OCTOGENARIAN OCTAGON!

  • Trump turned America's 250th birthday, the country's semiquincentennial, into a $60 million UFC cage fight on the White House South Lawn for his own 80th birthday. This episode of We Saw the Devil breaks down the entire Freedom 250 disaster: the pay-per-view cage match, the beer and crypto sponsors, the commemorative coin with his face on it, and the party lights that nearly blinded a pilot landing at Reagan National.

Host Robin, a jaded Poli Sci major and full-time political obsessee, follows the money through the UFC, Paramount, the $110 billion merger that needs Trump's blessing, Jane Fonda's rival concert at 88, the ring girl outfits that violate flag code on Flag Day, and the six states that refused to attend their own country's birthday.

  • On June 9, 2026, a Collin County jury convicted Karmelo Anthony of murder in the stabbing death of Austin Metcalf and sentenced him to 35 years. Within hours, the country split into two camps, and both of them are wrong.

In this episode, Robin walks through what actually happened at Kuykendall Stadium on April 2, 2025, fact by verified fact: the trial testimony, the five words that destroyed the self-defense claim, the Texas provocation doctrine, and why the jury got this verdict right. Then she turns to the part almost no one covering this case will say in the same breath: the grief and rage coming out of Black America over this verdict is rational, documented, and backed by data. Brock Turner got three months. Ethan Couch got probation for four deaths. Lakeith Smith got 65 years for a killing a cop committed. The double standard is real, and this episode brings the receipts.

Also in this episode: why the viral "two knives, two verdicts" comparison to the Caysen Allison case doesn't hold up, and the one question inside it that does. The all-white jury and the Batson appeal that's coming. The death penalty calls that were unconstitutional from day one. Jasmine Crockett's false claims, the $630,000 GiveSendGo, the white nationalist rally a grieving father had to denounce, and the entire economy feeding on two dead boys.

A verdict can be correct and a system can be broken at the same time, in the same courtroom. If you can't hold both, that's a you problem.

We don't do fair. We do factual.

  • Graham Platner is leading Susan Collins in one of the most important Senate races in the country, and instead of asking how Democrats can win the seat, half the party seems busy feeding its own candidate into the purity machine.

We break down the allegations against Platner, what he has admitted, what he denies, and why the political background of his most prominent accuser matters. We also talk about the larger question Democrats keep refusing to answer: what exactly is the standard?

Because Donald Trump has 34 felony convictions, was found civilly liable for sexual abuse, owes millions in defamation damages, and is still treated by Republicans as perfectly fit to govern. But Graham Platner, a Marine combat veteran and PTSD survivor running against Susan Collins, gets treated like an extinction-level event by his own party.

Also in this episode: Trump cries election fraud while his own candidates are winning in California, Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon slashes recognized faiths and leans harder into Christian nationalism, Republicans briefly flinch at a $1.8 billion weaponization slush fund before protecting the possibility of bringing it back, Trump’s White House ballroom donors rake in billions in federal contracts, and the House moves to rename the Department of Defense the Department of War.

It is corruption, hypocrisy, purity politics, and institutional cowardice all the way down.

  • WELCOME TO THE EXTRAORDINARY PARADISE

Stephen Miller called this an "extraordinary paradise." Same week: inflation up, Dell got $9.7 billion, the Iran War hit day 90, and the DOJ went after the woman a jury said Trump assaulted. So let's talk about who paradise is really for.

  • The "party of life" is not hypocritical. It's selective.

And this week, the receipts are overwhelming.

North Carolina Republicans filed House Bill 1232, the "Human Life Protection Act," a constitutional amendment defining life at fertilization that would classify abortion as first-degree murder and authorize deadly force to "protect" a fertilized egg. Legal analysts warn the bill could ban IVF statewide.

Meanwhile, the Associated Press published a devastating investigation revealing that at least 10 people have died by suicide in ICE detention since January 2025, the worst year in the agency's history. Seven had no record of violent crimes. Their average age was 32. The government called it "extremely rare."

Also this week: the U.S. bombed Iran during a ceasefire and called it "self-defense." Cuba's foreign minister warned the UN that American military threats could cause a "bloodbath." Thomas Massie lost the most expensive House primary in history ($32 million) after pushing to release the Epstein files, and now says he'll release more names. And Ken Paxton, impeached, indicted for securities fraud, and divorced by his own wife on "biblical grounds," just won the Texas Senate Republican primary with Trump's endorsement after the GOP spent $100 million tearing itself apart.

Pro-life? They're the party of forced birth, disposable people, profitable cruelty, and extremely selective compassion.

  • t’s almost June, which means every brand is about to slap a rainbow on their logo and send emails saying "we see you." Meanwhile, they’re quietly funding politicians who back Don't Say Gay bills. But yeah, thanks for the rainbow debit card. Super brave of you.

This week I'm honestly just going off on all the performative activist bs that’s been clogging our feeds for a decade. I'm talking about the black squares that literally buried actual BLM resources, the whole corporate Pride grift, and those pink pussy hats (yeah, sorrynotsorry). I'm also dragging those Notes app apologies written by publicists and the little award show pins that basically became a perpetual red carpet accessory.

Basically, if your activism doesn't actually scare the people in charge, it's just marketing, and you're the product.

  • Thirty-four million dollars.

That's what it costs to buy a congressional seat in America. Not rent. Buy. Outright. Like a foreclosure auction, except the property is a democracy and the bidders live in a different country.

This week, Thomas Massie, a seven-term Republican who voted with Trump 94% of the time, was primaried out of Congress in the most expensive House primary in U.S. history. His crime? Pushing the Epstein files. Fighting the war in Iran. Introducing a bill to make AIPAC register as a foreign agent. His replacement is a man with no public platform, no public birthday, and $34 million in outside money from pro-Israel lobbying groups and three billionaires who have never been to Kentucky.

Meanwhile: The DOJ created a $1.776 billion taxpayer-funded "Anti-Weaponization Fund" that could pay out January 6th defendants, Proud Boys, and Oath Keepers, and gave Trump permanent IRS audit immunity as a bonus. Two Capitol Police officers are suing to shut it down.
The Trump administration indicted 94-year-old Raul Castro on Cuban Independence Day at Miami's Freedom Tower, directly next to the future Trump Library, in the middle of an oil blockade that has left Cuba without electricity and healthcare. Justice or political theater? (We both know the answer.)

The Senate finally advanced a war powers resolution on Iran. On its eighth try. The House still can't get it done by one vote. The guy who led the fight just lost his seat.

Spencer Pratt, the villain from The Hills, is running for Mayor of Los Angeles. His campaign is staffed by MAGA operatives. He compared himself to Obama. We need to talk about it.

This episode breaks down who paid for what, who benefits, and what it means that every single institutional guardrail designed to prevent authoritarian consolidation is either neutralized, captured, or under active assault.

  • You know that feeling where you read a headline and your brain glitches? Where you think, "Didn't they literally say the opposite of this yesterday? On camera? With their face hole?"

You're not imagining it. And you're not losing your mind.

In this episode, Robin breaks down the documented, studied, historically proven strategy behind the constant contradictions coming out of Washington. This isn't incompetence. This isn't "mixed messaging." This is a destabilization tactic.

    She's covering:
    1. The RAND Corporation's "Firehose of Falsehood" propaganda model and why it works
    2. How the Trump administration's shifting, contradictory statements on the Iran war are a textbook case of managed chaos
    3. The Truth Default Theory: Why your brain is hardwired to believe authority figures even when you consciously know they're lying
    4. Learned helplessness: the psychology experiment from the 1960s
    5. Why "I just don't follow politics anymore" is what they want.
    6. Who profits from your confusion
    7. How to stay connected

This is not a news roundup episode. Also, you're not too sensitive. You're not too political. You're not too online. You are on the receiving end of an actual strategic choice. Let's talk about it.

  • You showed up in a hoodie, said you'd fight for the poor
Beat a TV doctor, man, we couldn't love you more
You were tatted up and angry, you were everything we need
Then you got to Washington and sold us out for clout on Fox News at speed
    You said you'd be different
    You said you'd be real
    Now you're confirming fascists
And calling war "no big deal"
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
    You Carhartt-wearing con
    You ran left, governed right
And you smile while people's kids get bombed
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
From Braddock to the beltway, what a ride
You traded every principle you had
For a segment on Fox & Friends at five
You confirmed Pam Bondi, you were literally the only one
Every other Democrat said no, you said, "Sounds fun"
You killed the War Powers vote, you were the single deciding voice
Three Republicans found Jesus, you found a different choice
    Fifty-six percent of your state
Said they don't want this war
    You said, "Operation Epic Fury!"
Like a kid in a gift shop at the Army Corps
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
    Joe Lieberman in basketball shorts
    You "revere the market," cool
While your voters can't afford a quart
Of milk or gas or rent, but hey
At least you kept the bombs on time
You're a profile in courage, John
If courage was a fucking war crime
    You call your base "anti-American"
    From a libertarian podcast set
    You called the left "communist"
    While cashing progressive checks
You won't say "fascist," that's uncouth
But you'll greenlight a bombing run
The bravest thing you ever did
Was wear shorts to the Senate, hon
Remember when you had a stroke and every right-wing hack
Said you were brain-damaged and broken and you'd never make it back?
Remember who showed up for you? Who phonebanked? Who believed?
We sent you twenty-five bucks we didn't have and now we're feeling pretty deceived
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
    You bipartisan little fraud
You've been on Fox more than Hannity
And you think that makes you broad
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
From every door we knocked, every call we made
You used the progressive vote to get the gig
Then you let every single promise fade
And the funniest part, the part that really kills me
Is he still wears the hoodie
    Like he's one of us
Buddy, that hoodie doesn't make you working class
    It makes you a cosplayer
    With a Senate salary
And a hard-on for Lockheed Martin
    Fuck you, John Fetterman
    Fuck you very much

  • The president said, on camera, that he doesn't think about Americans' financial situations. "Not even a little bit." He said it while inflation hit a three-year high, gas hit $4.50 a gallon, and the war in Iran crossed $29 billion. Then he got on a plane to China.

This episode covers all of it.

Trump's "I don't think about anybody" quote in full context. FBI Director Kash Patel calling a senator a drunk under oath instead of answering whether he shows up to work sober. Lindsey Graham screaming at Defense Secretary Hegseth because the war he sold is falling apart. Israel publicly lobbying for more strikes while Americans pay $4.50 at the pump. The DOJ threatening to subpoena journalists for reporting the truth. Trump mocking JD Vance as a "little boy" for being evacuated faster during a shooting. Three unexplained dental visits in five months. The Supreme Court letting Alabama gut its court-ordered voting maps mid-election. Tennessee stripping every Black legislator of their committee assignments. A racist streamer terrorizing Nashville. And why the Democratic Party's answer to all of this has been a fundraising email while Zohran Mamdani proved in 131 days that the problems were always solvable.

The system is working as designed. Just not for you.

  • The Voting Rights Act is dead and they killed it in three days. Tennessee gutted its only Black-majority district. Alabama's House Speaker called for overturning the 14th Amendment. On camera. Virginia threw out a voter-approved redistricting plan. The new counterterrorism strategy puts trans people in the same threat category as ISIS. The Pentagon dumped 162 blurry UFO files. The Iran war grinds on while Trump posts AI war fantasy images and watches golf. And 590,000 MAGA supporters got scammed on a phone that doesn't exist.

  • This week on We Saw the Devil, Robin tears through the most chaotic news cycle of the second Trump administration so far.

Donald Trump told a White House crowd he'll be in office "eight or nine years from now," and they applauded. Politico reports the President personally offered Senator John Fetterman a "financial windfall" to switch parties (usually a bag of cash), on the record, while a sitting US senator "absorbed the suggestion." Trump publicly accused Pope Leo XIV of "endangering Catholics" with his pro-peace stance on the Iran war, sending Marco Rubio to Rome on damage control. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America president Marjorie Dannenfelser told the Wall Street Journal flat out: "Trump is the problem. The president is the problem."

Robin breaks down Operation Epic Fury, Project Freedom, and the Strait of Hormuz standoff Pete Hegseth insists is "not a ceasefire violation" while Iran sinks ships and the UAE shoots down Iranian missiles. The Senate's $1 billion taxpayer giveaway for Trump's East Wing ballroom, the Supreme Court's gutting of Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act in Louisiana v. Callais, RFK Jr.'s campaign to "deprescribe" antidepressants, the closure of the ICE Detention Ombudsman office, the eight Republican AGs arguing in federal court that Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act is unconstitutional, and the hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship in the Atlantic that nobody at HHS is equipped to track.

Pour something strong. We're going in.

  • The president had 60 days to ask Congress for permission to keep fighting a war with Iran. Today was the deadline. He didn't ask. He sent a letter saying the war is "terminated," while 50,000 troops remain deployed, the naval blockade continues, oil sits at $118 a barrel, gas is at $4.12, and the Secretary of Defense told the world he could resume strikes "at the push of a button."

Meanwhile, his sons signed a Pentagon drone deal. The Supreme Court gutted the Voting Rights Act. The Fifth Circuit blocked mifepristone from being mailed anywhere in the country. A whistleblower revealed the DOJ rushed the SPLC indictment. Infowars went dark forever. The new surgeon general nominee has spent years publicly calling out RFK Jr. And the owner of Politico told his journalists to support Israel or resign.

Robin breaks down the entire week: the War Powers Resolution deadline and why Trump's "ceasefire means the war is over" argument is constitutionally indefensible. The Trump family drone company Powerus and how Don Jr. and Eric are positioned to profit from their father's unauthorized war. The Supreme Court's 6-3 ruling eviscerating Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act, the DOJ's gleeful "we are ON IT" response, and the state-by-state domino effect already underway in Louisiana, Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and beyond. The Fifth Circuit's nationwide ruling blocking mail-order mifepristone and what it means for abortion access in every state. The SPLC whistleblower who says Associate Deputy AG Aakash Singh ordered prosecutors to rush a weak indictment against a civil rights organization for the crime of infiltrating white supremacist groups.

Casey Means getting pulled and Nicole Saphier's history of criticizing Kennedy's anti-vaccine empire. Alex Jones' slurred champagne farewell and The Onion's plan to turn Infowars into a parody of itself. Axel Springer CEO Mathias Dopfner demanding Politico journalists back Israel or leave. And the DNC burying its own autopsy to protect Kamala Harris' 2028 bid.

This is what a single week looks like when every guardrail fails at once.

  • The former FBI director is facing ten years in prison for a photo of seashells on a beach. The president posted an AI-generated photo of himself holding an assault rifle. One of them was indicted this week. Guess which one.

Robin's is back after a week and a half off, and the country didn't hold it together. This episode covers everything: the White House Correspondents' Dinner shooting and the third assassination attempt on Donald Trump, the James Comey 8647 seashell indictment and the staggering hypocrisy behind it, the Iran war escalation with oil at $118 a barrel and gas at $4.12, Pete Hegseth's disastrous congressional testimony, King Charles III's state visit to a country visibly falling apart, Trump's threat to pull troops from Germany, the Jimmy Kimmel "expectant widow" controversy and the FCC's move against ABC, and the acting attorney general who used to be Trump's personal defense lawyer now running political prosecutions out of the DOJ.

Robin pulls the receipts on every Republican who used "86" with zero consequences: Jack Posobiec tweeting "86 46," Matt Gaetz bragging about "86-ing" party leadership, Paul Gosar's anime assassination video, Trump's hogtied Biden truck video, and the thousands of "8646" products still for sale on Amazon, while James Comey faces a federal indictment for arranging shells on a beach. This is what selective prosecution looks like. This is what a weaponized justice system looks like.

And this is what happens when you leave the country unsupervised for ten days.
