Hyaluronic acid fillers are now as popular as Botox! Over 9 million people had filler injected last year. Hyaluronic acid can fill wrinkles and deep folds, define lip and jaw borders, fill temples and plump earlobes, lips and chins and rejuvenate aging hands. The problem with filler is not what board certified artistic plastic surgeons do with it, but the fact that nurses, physician assistants, dentists, and non plastic surgeons can "certify" in under 2 hours! It's no wonder there are so many terrible results. On this show, we discuss Dr. Perry's artistic technique of wrinkle filler... We also play Dr. Perry's interview with Curtis Sliwa and Larry Mendte.

Proper nutrition is important to look as good as possible. Many vitamins and nutrients - like protein and Vitamin C - are necessary for a healthy, nice appearance. On this show, Dr. Perry interviews the Nutrition Twins - Tammy Shames and her sister Lyssie Lakatos - they discuss nutrients and supplements that can hurt or help your appearance.
And Dr. Perry and cohost Susan Warner continued their discussion about the artistry in plastic surgery and why so many people have terrible results from surgery and office procedures.

The sun is our friend - it elevates our moods and provides all the Vitamin D we need. But more than 20 minutes of sun exposure a day during high UV index days will age the skin prematurely. It causes immunosuppression, wrinkles, brown splotches, and rough old skin. More importantly, skin cancers are much more common in people with excessive sun exposure. On this show, we talk about the benefits of sun exposure...and the problems UV light causes. We describe how the SPF number is obtained, everything you want to know about sunscreen.

Fat removal through tiny incisions, called liposuction, is wildly popular. And for good reason. It is safe and effective, and it can remove the fat that even dieting and GLPs can't remove. On this show, we discuss how plastic surgeons perform liposuction - we'll talk about the risks and the benefits and help you decide if this procedure is for you.

We've known for decades that cigarette smoking increases cosmetic surgery complications. But not until this week did we understand that vaping, nicotine patches, and even chewing tobacco increases complications 4 fold! Across the board in all cosmetic suergery procedures all complications, from infections to bleeding to wound problems are all enormously increased - from 4% to over 15% - in people who use nicotine. So just don't. We discuss this, as well as the new CDC report about continued problems of complications and deaths from Americans having cosmetic surgery in other countries.

Cosmetic eyelid surgery, formally known as "blepharoplasty", is increasingly popular...and for good reason. Blephs truly rejuvenate the eyelids and the entire face. On this show, we discuss how plastic surgeons perform this operation and the benefits it can give you. Co-host Susan Warner and I also debunk the myth that special skincare is needed for people taking GLP1 drugs.

Broadcasting live from the annual meeting of the Aesthetic Society in Boston, MA, internationally known plastic surgeon Dr. Rod Rohrich joins Dr. Perry to discuss the newest procedures and treatments in cosmetic surgery. The most common facial plastic surgery procedure is the blepharoplasty. Eyelid lifts for the non-plastic surgeon... On this show, I discuss how we perform this procedure and who is the best candidate. We also discuss the 6 deaths just reported from rib remodeling procedures! Wasn't it just a few weeks ago that I predicted this???

Women are the biggest consumers of cosmetic surgery. But men still get old looking and somewhere around their mid 50s, they realize that their neck skin is hanging and fatty. But facelifts are problematic in men - they bring hair into the ears and scars are hard to hide without makeup. So, fat suction, band repair, chin implants, and direct excision of excess skin help make middle aged men look good again. On this show, Susan Warner comes out of retirement to co-host this interesting male facelift show.

There are many stupid things in plastic surgery - on this show, we discuss the removal of submandibular salivary glands. Those are the lumps in the sides of the neck that break up the beautiful contour of a youthful neck. Those lumps make up about 2/3 of your saliva - and when they are removed, you might have dry mouth symptoms, or your might have more tooth decay, or you might require lemony squirts in your mouth the rest of your life just so you can speak and swallow properly. So, why on earth would you want to remove those glands? For the purpose of maybe looking a little better? Oh come on now.....

Sometimes you just have to wonder what has happened to common sense in plastic surgery? There are plastic surgeons and patients who are actually removing or cracking ribs to create a thinner waist. Did these "doctors" forget the first rule of medicine: do no harm? Have they forgotten that the ribs are designed to protect lungs, heart, liver, spleen, and kidneys and pancreas? And have they forgotten that rib surgery is painful and has lifelong consequences? Tune in to this show to hear about one of the stupidest things I've ever seen in plastic surgery.

There are so many different facelifts. SMAS lifts, skin only lifts, deep plane lifts, short scar lifts, S lifts, subperiosteal lifts....and so many more. But which one is better? A landmark paper was just published that punched the biggest hole in the deep plane facelift - you know - the one that those influencers had and paid over $100,000 for... It turns out that, while they didn't waste all of their money, they could have had a more traditional 2 layered SMAS facelift by virtually any well trained artistic board certified plastic surgeon in the US, and saved enough money to purchase a small boat! Tune in to this show to learn why the deep plane facelift isn't all it is cracked up to be....

My cosmetic surgery patients care about the appearance of their skin and their overall beauty. And it follows that the same people who are concerned about appearance are also concerned about their overall health. An annual physical exam can only go so far. And that's where the total body MRI and advanced bloodwork that the Prenuvo company performs comes in. On this show, I interview Dr. Daniel Durand, the President of Prenuvo and an incredibly smart radiologist. Listen in!

There are literally dozens of different types of facelifts. Every surgeon claims theirs is the best technique. And now there's the "deep plane" lift (described in 1979, by the way!), with some plastic surgeons charging over $200,000 for this 4 hour operation! And some gullible celebrities and affluent people are falling for the deep plane myth. In this show, we begin a discussion about whether the deep plane lift is any better than a traditional facelift. If you are considering a facelift, you might save a bundle by listening to this show.

The mommy makeover is increasingly popular. This procedure combines a tummy tuck with a cosmetic breast procedure - either a lift, reduction, or augmentation. In the last month, there have been 3 high profile deaths of young women undergoing this procedure. On this show, we discuss why the mommy makeover is a dangerous procedure and how you can stay safe with cosmetic surgery.

Ulthera - high energy focused ultrasound - has been the leader of noninvasive facial skin tightening for 15 years. The FDA just approved the technology for tightening crepey skin of the arms and tummy. On this show, we discuss how Ulthera can help with this hard to treat problem. And, we continue the discussion of the craziest things in plastic surgery - focusing on fat grafting to the breasts and buttocks. While this procedure is very popular, there are no long term studies that show what you'll look like years down the road. Tune in to listen to Dr. Perry's take on this procedure...especially if you are planning on having fat grafting!

Mini-facelifts are sort of like being "a little pregnant". You either do it or you don't. Most "mini-facelifts" are simply marketing gimmicks - designed to lure you in to a procedure that sounds small. In fact, there really are very few mini-facelifts. Most are short scar cheeklifts that have limited usefulness and longevity. On this show, we discuss the various types of facelifts. From traditional long scar to 2 layered, to -yes- the minifacelift.

The cold weather does a number on your skin. Heating your house drops the humidity to levels seen in the Mohave Desert! And so we get rough, chapped skin, often with tiny painful cracks around our lips and hands. But spring is around the corner, and so we discuss how to battle back from winter skin on today's show. From skincare to removal of unsightly blemishes and moles, to filling wrinkles and lasering and even surgery, this is the episode you'll want to listen to so you can plan for beautiful skin this spring.

Blepharoplasties are cosmetic eyelid lifts. This procedure usually removes excess skin and fat from the eyelids and is a great facial rejuvenator. Many people think the surgery is a minor procedure because the satisfaction rate is very high and the complication rate is fairly low. But the truth is that all sorts of issues can occur with eyelid surgery - from visible scars to a pull-down of the lids to the dreaded complication of blindness. Before surgery, I send my patients to an ophthalmologist to determine that their eyes are healthy enough to have surgery. On this show, I bring in expert ophthalmologist Dr. Larry Najarian, who discusses how he helps patients get ready for their eyelid surgery.
