  • We have often had people who have a single belief of who and what they are. It’s not that they’re wrong for that, it that they had never tried to challenge it before. People who were “superior” to them had given diagnosis and those were taken to heart. Today we’ll talk about it more. Have a listen.

    A lot of people we encounter had their mom, their teacher, their mentor tell them something and that’s never been challenged. (13:10) Internally, I don’t want to put the keys in the lock that are almost a fit, but to a perfect fit. I’d rather make them on the inside. (19:20) Medical doctors aren’t always right and I think they would appreciate if we said; I don’t think that’s accurate and here’s why. And together you could figure out a solution. (30:30) Trauma is not a thing and if me saying that is upsetting, then maybe its an invitation to set down all that. (39:15)

  • Description; “I feel happy”. Prescription; “I’m doing all of these things so I should be feeling happiness”. Don’t let the prescriptions and “shoulds” in life, run over the descriptions, and the present moment. Today, we’ll talk about this more. Have a listen.

    In a list, you’ll be given prescriptions, not what will become good, natural byproducts of your living experience. (14:30) “Where am I at, where am I headed, and what do I need to shift in order to move in that direction?” (17:00) Take a step back and think, what if everything will just naturally happen, if I just focus on what’s important right now? (17:50) Are you actually satisfied with the direction you’re moving, are you satisfied with the pace that you’re moving at? (20:25)

  • This one’s for the women. A man’s “addiction” to pornography doesn’t mean that there is something wrong with you or that you need to change. It is just the way that his body has found to cope with his discomfort. We’re going to talk about this more today. Have a listen.

    Highlights:

    Because the “addiction” is no longer sexual, we look at; what are they coping with? (15:50) Depression, shame, and guilt are all mechanisms that are engaged in order to solve an ongoing problem. (17:25) It’s a chasing of a sensation all because, the person is unconscious of the way that they have built discomfort into their lifestyle. (25:35) Women, there is nothing wrong with you. And if the guy is wanting to change, that is evidence that he cares and that you are enough. (36:20)

  • If you’re going to get help with something, at least get good help. Ruminating on the problem won’t solve it, so find someone or something that looks at the source, not the symptom. We’ll talk about this more today. Have a listen.

    Do you really want validation on your trauma? (5:20) If you don’t want things to continue down their current path, validation will not get you to another place. (7:20) When bad help becomes the main source, it causes rumination on the symptoms, and not on the causes. (16:50) If you’re going to get help, then get good help. (:)

  • Therapy is not really as useful as it seems. In reality, therapy gets you to just ruminate on thoughts and situations that are no longer useful to you. Instead of spending time pouting about it, learn from it and move on. Today, we’re going to talk about that more. Have a listen.

    When going to some form of entertainment, the emotional controls are almost willfully set aside for the enjoyment of another story. (6:05) No doubt, teenagers all over the planet have these hormonal things that show up, and have situations that they have emotions about. But it’s being blown out of proportion to where everybody is being taught, everybody will have emotions that are too big for them and these tools are needed. Instead of; there might be an emotion from time to time, no big deal. (10:40) There becomes such a focus on the problem that it becomes overwhelming and it can seem like there’s no hope. (27:30) Don’t feel bad if the tools that have been given to you aren’t as effective as some other ones out there could be. (43:50)

  • Biology, evolution, science, and religions are all great and can be useful tools in life. But they shouldn’t interfere with your experience. We live in the present, the now. Not 100, not 500, not 5000 years ago. Today we’re going to talk about this more. Have a listen.

    There isn’t a bodiless it out there, like god, that is saying; “this is the case and you must accept it”. But because it’s in a book, people accept it. (9:05) Just because you can connect all the dot’s on the paper, doesn’t mean that you actually understand the paper. (17:20) It’s not that science is bad. But in the end, it’s not needed to live a powerful life. The effort to try and understand the distant past, has prevented people from making use of the present, in order to have a powerful experience in your life. (33:35)

  • FAIRO is an acronym for “false ah-ha’s impersonating real ones”. Meaning that when an ah-ha moment comes up, no time is wasted in assuming it is the answer and not just an observation. Today we’re going to talk about this more. Have a listen.

    There’s danger in assuming that an ah-ha moment is the truth. (7:55) The ah-ha moment is the moment when you’ve conceptualized the world into an idea. (13:30) Assessing someone on a first impression isn’t the issue. Clinging to the impression is. (22:00) Stop making assumptions from ah-ha’s and start making real observations. (30:30)

  • Today we’re going to do a little bit of a play by play of a book that I recently read. But as we talk, find what’s useful, and keep it. then toss the rest out. Have a listen.

    Highlights:

    There are humans so busy suffering and chasing power, money, prestige and all the other things that they end up killing each other for it. (3:05) I was making all kinds of claims, but I found a lot of frustration in that that I wasn’t willing to admit. When something wasn’t working I’d turn it on, and judge myself more poorly because what I assumed was the truth wasn’t. (7:15) Continue to look and hear with your eyes and ears, find what’s valuable and toss the rest. (35:15) If the body is in a negative state then negative thoughts will emerge. (37:20) Don’t make the mistake of believing that thoughts are reality. They are just a part of your experience. (44:50)

  • Everyday bliss. Just being in a space where you can enjoy running your body, from just being alive. Not having to operate from a place of constant tension. We’re going to talk about that more today. Have a listen.

    When talking about a life, it isn’t the big things that I’m talking about. It’s how do you open the car door, cut food, talk to your spouse, it’s all the little things. (8:10) If the nerve is already agitated to the brink of firing, then the tiniest little thing will set it off. (10:45) People don’t want control over everything, they want life to happen in a beautiful way for them, no matter what’s going on. (25:25) The inner party, is louder than the outer chaos. (28:00) When your happiness is found in all the little things you do, you no longer need to chase the big things to get rid of your misery. (32:50)

  • Proprioception can be often thought of how you perceive your physical situation, but it goes a lot deeper than that. It is how you perceive yourself in any situation. Proprioception is how you catch yourself in the act of living. We’re going to talk about this in depth today. Have a listen.

    Highlights:

    The prediction is made first, and only if the prediction is wrong, is more energy spent trying to figure out what’s going on. (6:00) We end up limiting our future by never challenging the predictions of the past. (11:20) The physicality of it is an attempt to sideline all of the thinking and doomsday-ing that’s happening inside. (21:45) If a reaction to something was less than it was before, and if it stays that way over the course of a day or two, the brain is now making different guesses about the idea that has been adopted. (:)

  • AF 243 - Affirmations & Disbelief

    Sounding like opposite ends of a spectrum, affirmations and disbelief are not so different. In fact, affirmations come for the disbelief in yourself and the lack of surety. Today we’ll talk about this more. Have a listen.

    If you don’t go through pain, then you don’t gain pain. (3:45) People are trying to find a trauma to blame their problems on, and they feel worse because they’re “just that messed up”. (8:35) I can say that I feel like there’s something missed in the beauty of life, in its natural form. (22:25) What if, by itself, without any need to improve it, just being human is one of the most glorious things we can experience. (24:30)

under the assumption that in the next 20 years of life, an opinion would and should never change. (5:40) If I could connect to people on their goodness, then positive things would come out of it. But I thought goodness meant that people thought and operated the same way I do. (14:55) At different times in the world, goodness would have been defined differently.
