But we become identified with current mental, emotional, and physical forms, believing that’s who we are and that’s what life is.
We find comfort and security in these beliefs.
Self-improvement teachings urge us to push forward harder and faster. Yet,, to the extent that you’re consciously desiring that bigger, better life ...you’re activating that emerging impulse and it is going to crack and push against the shells of your personal identities and limited concepts.

One morning at 4am, the Northridge earthquake threw me out of my bed and convinced me that I was about to die.
It really shook me up. For days, I walked in fear, facing my mortality and the realization that my body and existence could end in an instant. Most of us carry this fear of death. It shows up as a literal fear of loss of our body, but also dominates our lives as a fear of death of parts of life such as the death of a relationship, a job, a dream, or our physical beauty.
But what, exactly, is it that would die?
As I continued to ponder this over the following days, the truth suddenly hit me hard. Just as physical objects take up limited space in an infinite universe, time is just a limited concept within eternity.
I realized that immortality is what's real, and my short, mortal life is just a limited concept.
This meant that I - the real Self that is the true "I" - cannot die!
So what does die?
What dies is our mortal concept of time and space: our limited concept about ourselves and our lives. Our belief in limitation and lack.
This is all that dies.
With this realization, a prayer shot through me: "Since dying is just the releasing of all these limiting beliefs ...then why not get on with it now?" I didn't pray this prayer; it prayed me. It prayed to die while I am still alive so that I could be liberated from my fear of death.
This is what all the great teachers have been teaching, because, to the degree that we hold on to our mortal sense of self, we are limited. Our life energy can't fully expand in us because of our fears of death.
And so, to truly live, we must die to the lie.

Some people think that life is a crap shoot, that life is the roll of the dice. But, as Einstein correctly said, “The dice of God are always loaded.” In other words, life doesn’t just happen. There is order. There is a certain pattern and lawfulness to life.
But there's a catch.
Not only is life set up ...life is set up to fail you.
Your life is designed in such a way that you will, sooner or later, experience what I call "The Big Betrayal."
You’ll experience The Big Betrayal because, not understanding how God has loaded the dice, you’ll follow what you’ve been taught: to give away your power to that thing or person you think you need for support.
If it’s a job, for example, you’ll start to be less and less who you really are. You won’t say or do what you really want, because you'll be afraid you’ll lose your source of income.
Until you understand how God’s dice are loaded, you’ll have to manipulate and control, cajole and twist yourself into a pretzel to do and be whatever you think is necessary to get what you think you don’t have, or to hold on to what you think someone can take away. You cannot truly be in a place of power, because you have to keep adjusting to that which you feel you depend on.

What is true freedom?
And why should you strive to have true freedom? What’s the reward?
In many therapy and self-help programs, such as 12 step programs, it begins with a desire to have freedom FROM something: freedom from pain, bondage, limitation, addiction.
But, as the Buddha taught, aversion - our desire to get rid of something in order to be free - is part of the core of the false self.
See, if we’re trying to be free from something, we’re still married to it vibrationally. As long as you’re focused on what you’re being free from, you’re still in bondage to that very thing.
In fact, the more we try to get freedom from, the more bonded we become to that cycle and the more we’re stuck on that wheel of karma. Every time we try to get or “get rid of” from that place, we create more karma because we’re increasing our sense of separation from the one life, the source, and the substance of all of creation.
That substance of all creation is who and what you are now ...not who you’re going to be when you get freedom from a circumstance you don’t like.
And so, as helpful as many self-help programs can be in the beginning, at a certain point we have to shift from trying to get freedom FROM ...to stepping into our freedom TO.
A freedom towards something. A freedom to choose. A freedom to live the way you want to live.
There’s economical freedom. There’s mental freedom. There’s emotional freedom. And there is, of course, physical freedom in the form of feeling safe and secure or feeling health and wellbeing.
When we have freedom, it gives us more choices in the midst of circumstances to do what we want regardless of how we feel, how much money we have, even what our beliefs tell us.
You start to get distance, which allows you to observe patterns, expand your awareness, and experience even more freedom.

“Who do you think you are, God’s gift to the world?”
Heck yeah!
You are literally the gift of God to the world, just like me.
Now you might be thinking, “What is this crazy person talking about? Has he looked around at human nature lately?”
Don’t worry. I’m not blind to the facts of experience.
Yes, there are a lot of crazy people. Frankly, we’re all pretty crazy ...humanly speaking.
But that’s not who you and I really are. And that’s not what we’re worshiping.
You are the Buddha, the Christ, the light of the world.
In fact, the very word “human” comes from the Sanskrit for “man” and means the “dispenser of Divine gifts.”
So the very ground you walk on is holy and sacred and hallowed. Because you walk on it.
Therefore you must worship the ground you walk on.
The alternative is false modesty, false humility, or worse: self-loathing.
It’s not arrogant or egotistical to worship yourself. It’s arrogant and egotistical to beat yourself up, to think of yourself as less than gorgeous and beautiful and powerful and wonderful.
That’s arrogant. That’s pure ego.

What is the Garden of Eden story?
Adam eats of the fruit of the knowledge of the tree of good and evil. Then all hell breaks loose.
Adam falls into a dream of being separate from the one life or the one power.
In his dream, he succumbs to the belief that there are many powers, divided fundamentally into two types: good power and evil power.
Adam’s “knowledge” of good and evil is the fundamental flaw in human consciousness that creates all suffering.
The problem of good and evil is the one problem that creates all of our human problems. It is our sense of being separate from this one life or this one power.
All great religions are established to solve this illusion of two powers, of duality.
The illusion that there’s God and you.

There are different types of freedom: emotional, mental, physical, social, financial and many more.
These types of freedom are what we strive to achieve by escaping what's been called "The Five Gates of Hell" that trap us in emotionalism, intellectualism, sensualism, personalism, and materialism.
Ultimately, real freedom can never exist as long as we believe someone or something outside of our consciousness is the source of anything in our life.
As long as we are caught in any way believing anyone or anything outside of our pure center of awareness - any thought, person, situation, emotion, condition, law - we cannot be free because we are caught in one of these Five Gates of Hell.
(It's pretty bleak, isn't it?)
We're hypnotized into striving to get more and more and more from outside us, or get rid of what is outside us in order to feel okay, we're on a treadmill of false freedom.
This is the ego's grandest trick, and it is bleak, indeed!

What have your loved ones given you?
And those that you haven't even known, but who you love because they gave you so much - Buddha, Jesus, Martin Luther King, Jr., Shakespeare, your ancestors - what specific thing or item did they give to you?
It wasn't a specific material object.
Their real gift was their Presence: the activity, quality, or frequency of Consciousness that they caught and downloaded and anchored on Earth.
Perhaps that Divine idea was love. Perhaps it was a belief in yourself.
Whatever it was, they activated and downloaded some eternal quality in a unique and unprecedented way.

There's a story in the Bible about Jesus cursing a fig tree, because it wasn’t bearing fruit. The fig tree dies.
Seems kind of out of character for the Christ, doesn't it?
But it's a cautionary tale for all of us; if we don’t produce the fruit of our kind, if we do not allow that which is our nature to come to fruition, then Life will get rid of our current forms and circumstances.
We live in a culture that seems to have been built on a single main thrust of, "Buy more! Get this!"
The promise of these advertising messages is that you'll gain more comfort, convenience, safety and security by these external means.
But this comfort and convenience is holding you back from bearing the fruit of who you really are.
If you want to be free, fulfilled, progressive, innovative and creative, to live a life of true vision and purpose, you have to grow and bear creative fruit. You must allow your evolutionary impulse to have its way with you.
By prioritizing comfort or convenience and avoiding growth, you're in opposition to Life itself, and you will experience crisis, stagnation, and - like the fig tree - death in some form or fashion.
Life is not a problem to be solved, but a mystery to be lived. Understand that the pursuit of comfort and convenience at the expense of the emergence of your soul's purpose will you back every time, and, ever-so-softly ...kill you.

Every day, we experience thoughts and impulses that bring about a sense of joy, creativity, and inspiration.
We want to move in the direction of these desires, be guided by them, because these are the soul's expression. This is the emergence of your higher vision.
But then you're stopped short by fear.
Yes, there is healthy, protective fear: the kind that makes you pull off the road when you sense dangerous driving conditions ahead.
But the kind of fear that stops you from coming into alignment with your higher self, stops you from saying "yes" to your Yes ...this fear prevents you from moving the edge of your own self-concept.
Fear and its cousins: struggle, anxiety - even frustration and anger - come upon you like an electric fence. The more energy you put into moving in the direction of your desires in the "greener pastures" beyond the fenceline of your current state, the more energy you'll have to put into protecting yourself from this terrifying, painful threshold.
Until you break down.
Tellingly, this is just when most of our breakthroughs occur, and the reason is that those limits must be broken through in order to grow into our fuller selves.
So, how do we live in a world in which fear is a regular occurrence that's never going away?
The end of fear comes at beginning of our understanding what fear is.
Every poker player has something called a "tell." This is the twitch or quirk, change in body language or tone of voice or focus of the eyes, some signal that lets other players have an idea what you've got in your hand.
Fear is your ego's "tell." It's your personal twitch or quirk that signals you are coming up against your ego's limited self-concept. Your old, limited way of being is cracking open, breaking down, and giving way to something much bigger, bolder, and better.

There is no such thing as a future. The past is a memory, the future is a fantasy. Even the present is in your imagination. The 'now' moment, is the only thing that's real.
The essence of the Law of Emergence is that everything is now. Everything that will be done, is already done. Everything you could be, you already are.
All the joy and the happiness and fulfillment you will ever experience as the result of what you want is already here.
Check in with yourself. Any time you are anticipating, ask yourself, if I already had this, how would I behave or react differently? Let this define your actions to bring the desired outcome forward rather than acting from a place of ‘want’.

What does it mean to you to be free of letting your past determining your future?
How much are you letting your past determine your future?
It's not the past that's problem, it's your present. If you are letting your past emotions determine your current state, you are determining your future based on that.
Your current circumstances are the result of your past but they do not determine the circumstances of your future.
As a visionary you have the capability of imagining and thus creating a more abundant, vibrant and fulfilling future.
What is emerging requires more focus on roots than the fruits coupled with a knowing that your harvest is already and always here.
This requires the development of a new set of skills and, in some ways, to 'not be of this world' of circumstances.
In this episode Derek uses the analogy of financial debt to describe this new skill and how you can shift your relationship to the future.

There's a reason why the word 'Quest' is in 'Question.' If you want to live a great quest, live with great questions."
A question is not something that is seeking to get something we don’t already have. From the Emergence model, the question is something that’s trying to emerge. Every question is answered. As the principle says, “Ask, and you shall receive.”
It’s not just the good questions, or the helpful questions, or the “positive” questions, but every question. It’s not personal, it’s principle. Every question is answered. If you ask, “Why doesn’t anything work for me?” You’ll get an answer. The answer will be plugging you back into all the reasons things don’t work for you, and bringing up a lot of new discoveries of why things don’t work for you.
That’s why things don’t work for me. You plug into the database of all of these patterns, but it doesn’t necessarily bring you any close to having things work for you better, because that’s not the question you asked. You didn’t ask, “How can things get better?” You asked, “Why don’t things work?” You get it?
The key principle here is ask the questions the answer of which is the actual result you want.
In other words, if you want more abundance, you don’t ask, “Why am I always broke?” Right? Why is the economy so bad? Why can’t I find a job? No, because you’ll get a whole litany of answers for why. You’ll see later it’s not just answers you’re going to get in the sense of just ideas in your head.

The Law of Emergence which states that when the conditions match the pattern within the seed the potential naturally emerges.
The good news is that unlike seeds in nature, which are indigenous and are dependent on their external environment, you are endogenous, which means you bring your environment with you wherever you go.
So no matter where you’ve been planted, what side of the tracks, no matter how much sun is out or how many clouds are blocking the light, you have the power through self-effulgence to turn on the light, to fertilize and cultivate the soil of your soul and create the right and ripe conditions for that destiny of greatness, that seed of infinite potential to emerge in your business, in your family, in every area of your life.

Create your compelling vision not just for life but for the coming 12 months wherever that falls for you right now.
There is a Chinese saying when is the best time to plant a tree? 30 years ago - And when is the next best time? Now!
Wherever you are in your journey it doesn't matter what ever time of the year it is doesn't matter. The date is arbitrary the right time to create your compelling vision for next 12 months 12 days 12 hours is always NOW. It's always the right time to tap back in.
There is always something seeking to emerge, there is always a larger version of you seeking to emerge, more life more light, peace, love, joy, beauty abundance, harmony.
All that makes life wonderful and good is infinite and exhaustible and uniquely patterned as you. And it's always unfolding, always knocking at the door of your consciousness saying 'Let Me Out'.
The more and more we are willing to live on that emerging edge of newness the more we will find our life continually renewed and restored. In fact the only place that real security exists is on that emerging edge, the emerging impulse, that evolutionary impulse.

The Myth of Believing and the Secret to Achieving. This is somewhat provocative and maybe even a little shocking for some of you. Particularly if you are immersed in the self-help, in spiritual agility, and the whole field of changing our thoughts and our beliefs in order to create the life of our dreams.
You see, while there is truth-the power of your thoughts. The importance of mindset. These are all very, very important elements. But in fact, it’s become in a way a disease where the idea that we have to feel it, to do it, to believe it. We have to believe it to achieve it. We have to feel confident to do it. It has created in many individuals this waiting period.
We are not going for our life. We are not living our life. We are not doing the thing we most want to do in creating and being because we are waiting.
We are waiting to believe it.
We are waiting to feel it.
We are waiting to have the confidence.
We are waiting for it not be scary and we checking in, with our beliefs. I'm I there yet?
We are contemplating our navel instead of getting out there where the action is and going forward. This is really becomes a problem that I see more and more. Where individuals are waiting.
Remember from the Emergence model. Whatever you are waiting for you are waiting with. Whatever is missing is what you are not giving. Where you are not generating your divine power plan.
A power plan doesn't receive energy it generates it. You are waiting for amuse to knock. You are waiting for inspirations. As if it’s going to come knock at your door, but instead of understanding it’s the inspiration is in you.
YOU have to act like an inspired person and you will activate inspiration.
YOU have to act like a confident person and you activate confidence because it’s ALL IN YOU.
YOU see the truth is it’s already done. It’s already happening.
What you need to do is to become in alignment with that which already is happening.

This episode is really a transmission that's been moving through me now for months. It's part of a series of talks that I've been giving that are calling for an entire up-leveling of our fortitude and our resilience, and our stamina, and our courage to do whatever it takes.
Whatever it takes to get the results that we truly want to get. Not just results in terms of materialistic elements in the world but also internal results. If we want to have a deeper connection with peace and want to grow our sense of peace or our sense of love. That's a very, very difficult path to really embody unconditional divine love. That is for the faint of heart. As Emerson said, "God will not do his work through cowards".
And so it takes a mighty level of strength and courage and stamina to be a person of true unconditional love. To be a person of compassion. A person of patience.
