  • It's game day for the Edmonton Oilers as they continue their eastern Canadian road trip, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio.

The guys started the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about what is the most concerning aspect of the Oilers' struggles right now. Whether it's goaltending needing to improve, concerns about the defence, or the forwards being unable to score, the debate about what's actually the biggest problem was all over the map. Needless to say, the boys all had different opinions about what's the biggest problem right now, but at the same time, they all seem to connect somehow.

Changing gears, we looked at the Oilers' defensive situation with Darnell Nurse on the shelf for 5-10 days after taking that brutal hit from Ryan Reaves. With Nurse out of the lineup, the defensive issues have gotten worse and it certainly doesn't help that Evan Bouchard is struggling mightily and directly responsible for so many mistakes over the last handful of games. No matter how you slice it, the defensive coverage has been an adventure lately and it's not all that surprising the boys focused on it for a healthy chunk of time.

Finally, the squad wrapped up the Tuesday podcast with some betting talk, keys to victory for beating the Senators, and offered up a score prediction ahead of tonight's game at the Canadian Tire Centre. Given that the Oilers and Senators are both working through varying inconsistencies, their first of two meetings on the season could be prove to be a big one. That said, if the Oilers plan to win this one then they'll need a much better effort than what we got on Monday in Montreal.

  • Friday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited and is ready to carry you through the weekend. This week, we discussed Connor McDavid's 1,000-point night, Darnell Nurse's big game, Jeff Skinner's struggles, and much more.

The fellas kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about our favourite Connor McDavid moments and how Thursday's 1,000th point ranks among his current achievements. Whether it was the way he started his career with goal No. 1 against the Stars, hitting 100 assists in a season as he did last year or his first 60-goal season, there's little doubt that it was a special moment for everyone who's been along for the ride.

Looking back at last night's 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators and how that victory gave the Oilers their first three-game win streak of the season. And even though everyone understandably wanted to talk about Connor McDavid's milestone night, some underrated storylines came out that the boys wanted to talk about. From how Calvin Pickard swept the season series against Nashville to Darnell Nurse's three-point night that still wasn't good enough for some people, last night's win was an exciting result.

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots that covered some Oilers talk and some nonsense mixed in there too. From there, the fellas dove into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days in terms of good and bad news. Needless to say, this week's episode had plenty of Connor McDavid talk mixed with a little bit of nonsense.

  • It's game day for the Edmonton Oilers with the New York Islanders in town, which meant there was plenty to talk about on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today's podcast, we looked at the Oilers' 7-3 win over the Canucks, what to expect from the New York Islanders, Brett Kulak's strong start, and more.

We started the Tuesday podcast episode by discussing which team we enjoy watching the Oilers beat the most and why. Whether it's laughing at Canucks fans because of how annoying the fanbase can be or Toronto for the way they think they're better than everyone else, it was fun to try and figure out which team is the most annoying. Flipping the question, are there any teams that the boys don't mind losing to?

Moving along, we looked back at the anniversary of Jay Woodcroft being fired and Kris Knoblauch coming in. Seeing as the boys were in Seattle on a Nation Vacation when Woodcroft was fired, everyone gave their take on what life's been like in the year since that coaching change. Back to the current team, the boys also spent some time talking about Evan Bouchard's struggles and how Oilers fans are looking for a whole lot more from their first pairing defenceman.

Finally, the squad wrapped up the Tuesday podcast with some betting talk, keys to victory for beating the Islanders, and offered up a score prediction ahead of tonight's game at Rogers Place. Given that the Oilers and Islanders are both working through varying struggles, their first of two meetings on the season could be a low scoring affair. That said, this game could also be one where the special teams play a major factor given that both sides are struggling on both the PP and the PK.

  • Friday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited and is ready to carry you through the weekend. This week, we discussed Wednesday's loss to the Golden Knights, Evan Bouchard's rough start, Connor McDavid's early return to the lineup, and much more.

We started the Friday episode of the podcast by discussing the Oilers' defensive pairings and whether it's time to change things up. Seeing as the Oilers had some very real struggles against the Golden Knights on Wednesday, it's fair to wonder if Knoblauch should try a different look or two with his defensive units.

Changing gears, we looked at the new line combos the Oilers iced at practice. Mattias Janmark is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury, which means there could be a path for a player like Noah Philp to rejoin the big club after spending the week with the Condors. We also touched on Matthew Savoie blocking a shot down in Calgary and how the fear of him being out has seemingly been squashed since he ended up in the lineup the next night.

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots that covered some Oilers talk and some nonsense mixed in there as well. From there, the fellas dove into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. • Last night's game against the New Jersey Devils was a tough one for the Edmonton Oilers, which meant an irritated cast on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today's podcast, we looked at Connor McDavid's recovery, Monday's shutout loss to the Devils, a minor-league trade, and more.

We started the Tuesday podcast with a delicious debate about the letter grade everyone would give the Oilers after three games without Connor McDavid in the lineup. With a 2-1-0 record without their captain, the fellas gave their notes on what's been happening over the last three games and why they assigned the grades they did.

Changing gears, the conversation turned toward the Oilers' special teams and how they're losing games because of areas where they've been solid historically. Put another way, if ever you were going to make a list of the issues the Oilers might have during the 2024-25 season, there's no way anyone would have included the power play.

Getting into the news from the week, we started with a discussion about when Connor McDavid will return to the lineup after being cryptic about whether or not he'll be available for Saturday's game in Vancouver. Is McDavid coming back the reason that the team loaned Drake Caggiula to the Condors? If McDavid does come back for Saturday's game, does that mean Derek Ryan might hit the waiver wire?

Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR by looking ahead to tomorrow's matchup against the Vegas Golden Knights. One of the weirder things about Vegas' season is that they're currently undefeated at home but have yet to win on the road. It's one of the stranger stats you will ever hear, but the goal of the podcast is not just to entertain but also to teach the audience a few things from time to time.

  • Friday afternoon means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been recorded and edited and is ready to carry you through the weekend. This week, we discussed Friday's win against the Predators, Noah Philp's NHL debut, and a whole lot more.

The boys started the Friday episode of ONR with a conversation about last night's win against the Nashville Predators and how it was an incredible effort by the McDavid-less Oilers at a moment when they needed it. Starting with how Leon Draisaitl handled his business, life without the captain gets much easier if their second-best player can step up the way he did. The guys also discussed the fisticuffs that happened with Podkolzin and Emberson, each dropping the mitts, and how those fights did a great job of sparking the team.

Sticking with last night's win, the boys gave their first impressions of how Noah Philp looked in his first NHL game and how great it was to see him pick up his first assist. Yet, even though everyone loves how he played, it's important to remember that he's an older prospect and that the ceiling may not be as sky-high as some people think. If he can stick in the lineup and lock down the 4C spot, wouldn't that be good enough?

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots that covered some Oilers talk and some nonsense mixed in there as well. From there, the fellas dove into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. • Last night's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets couldn't have gone worse for the Edmonton Oilers, which meant a sombre tone on the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio. On today's episode, we looked at the Connor McDavid injury, who fills the void, Philp/Caggiula being recalled, and more.

The boys started the Tuesday podcast episode with a delicious debate about the Connor McDavid injury and how the Oilers can realistically fill the void for a player that can not be duplicated. Elliotte Friedman tweeted Tuesday afternoon that the team is expected to recall Noah Philp and Drake Caggiula, meaning the Oilers will need to figure out line configurations and how they can best be effective.

We then wondered aloud about McDavid's injury and our initial thoughts after seeing him go down. Considering it was an innocuous-looking play, it's unbelievable that he could be injured for any length of time after such a minor collision. Regardless of how McDavid's injury happened, the Oilers will have to navigate a captainless existence in the short term. It's a massive hole to fill, and the question will be whether or not they can get anywhere close to doing it.

As we were recording, the news became official that the Oilers recalled Noah Philp and Drake Caggiula, meaning the team is no longer able to accrue cap space while they're on the lineup. Even though that's a temporary issue while McDavid is out of the lineup, the Oilers will have less space at the trade deadline than they initially hoped.

  • The Oilers dropped their last two games against Dallas and Carolina, causing the vibes around the team to drop dramatically. That said, we're still feeling good about the team going forward, and we did our best to try and explain why everyone else should be too.

We kicked off the Friday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about the Oilers' new power play line combos and whether we think these new configurations will stick for any length of time. Edmonton hasn't adjusted its power play lines all that much over the last few years, which led us to discuss how much leash everyone thinks the new hotness will have before turning back to the old faithful.

Changing gears, Dan mentioned he was unhappy with Kris Knoblauch's OT usage, and we talked about why he thinks the ice time should be split up a little more. Some of the boys think that loss is more a product of bad luck than OT usage. We then looked at the new line combos that Kris Knoblauch put together and whether this shuffle would be the key to balancing out the attack.

Looking ahead at Friday's game against the Penguins and what the biggest keys to victory will be for the Oilers to get back in the win column. From the special teams getting going to taking care of their end to capitalize on their chances to score, there are plenty of details the Oilers can dial in if they're going to get back in the win column.

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Needless to say, this week's episode had plenty of hockey talk mixed with a little bit of nonsense.

  • We're back to two episodes of Oilersnation Radio per week, and unfortunately, that meant we had to spend the Tuesday episode of the podcast talking about why the Oilers can't seem to score goals right now.

We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about Stuart Skinner and whether or not the hate he's getting online is deserved. While there's no doubt that Skinner needs to be better, there's also an argument to be made about how the skaters in front of him aren't playing their best either. The more significant point for all of us, however, is that it's tough to win hockey games when you don't score goals.

Changing gears, we reviewed the news from this past week, including Knoblauch's new line combos, key players' lack of scoring, and the Oilers' special teams. Starting with the lack of power play success, we looked at what the Oilers might change tactically to try and get back on top. Outside of changing up the personnel, would it make sense for the Oilers' to simplify the approach a little bit with more shots and crashing the crease? We also looked at the scoring totals and how there are some key players without having any points on the board. Are the goals coming, or are we looking at a cold streak we think will continue?

Finally, we wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with a game preview ahead of Tuesday's matchup with the Hurricanes and offered up our keys to victory for how the Oilers can lock in their third win of the season. We then wrapped up the show some betting talk ahead of tonight's matchup against the Carolina Hurricanes. Despite losing their last game against Dallas, the Oilers are favoured against Carolina, and we took our best guesses at the betting lines ahead of what will be a pivotal matchup.

  • It's the Friday afternoon after a big Oilers win, which meant the vibes were excellent on the second episode of Oilersnation Radio of the week.

We kicked off Friday's episode of the podcast with a delicious debate about the Oilers' power play and, specifically, whether or not Kris Knoblauch should make any changes to the PP1. Even though the power play is struggling so far, it's also very early to make changes to a line that has been one of the best the league has ever seen in years.

Looking back at the last two games, we dove into the Oilers' first two victories of the year and how the win over Philly prevented Tyler from having to eat cat food again. Yet, despite talking about the game for 30 seconds, the conversation quickly fell off the rails with a way-too-early debate about Warren Foegele vs. Viktor Arvidsson.

Changing gears entirely, we looked at the Oilers' willingness to drop the mitts over the last two games and how those fights sparked the team in a very real way. That's not to suggest that fighting is the key to success in the NHL — no one is saying that — but it's hard to ignore the impact those three scraps had on the team at the moment.

Returning to last night's win over the Predators, we spent a few minutes talking about Nashville's struggles to start their season. Does it make sense that a team with so many new players should be afforded some extra time for everyone to get comfortable, or are they simply underperforming where they should be?

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Needless to say, this week's episode had plenty of hockey talk that we've had in a while, and it feels good to know that the NHL is back in full swing.

  • We're back to two episodes of Oilersnation Radio per week, and unfortunately, that meant we had to spend the first episode of the week talking about the Oilers' disastrous start to the year. Even though going 0-3 isn't the worst thing to happen in the big picture, that doesn't mean anyone should be happy about how the Oilers have started.

We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR with a delicious debate about what has been the most challenging or disappointing aspect of the first three games. Whether it's the lack of scoring from the top six, the lack of overall execution, or the inability to get going to start the year, there are plenty of reasons to be disappointed in the Edmonton Oilers. However, only time will tell how long it takes the team to figure things out.

Getting away from everything that's gone wrong, we looked at the news from the past week and walked through the ups and downs of the news wire. Starting with the Corey Perry no-goal from Sunday night, the fellas got into the call and how ridiculous it is that the NHL doesn't seem to have any standard regarding goaltender interference. From there, we dissected the new line combos that the Oilers iced this morning at practice.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Tuesday episode of Oilersnation Radio with some keys to victory to ensure they snap their losing streak. Whether it's upping the urgency, respecting the blue lines, or getting production from their big guns, the boys had plenty ideas on how to snap the skid. With the armchair coaching out of the way, the guys offered up some score predictions for what they think will happen tonight against the Flyers.

  • The Edmonton Oilers season began on Wednesday and it's safe to say it went terribly. After losing 6-0 to the Winnipeg Jets, the Oilersnation Radio gang (Tyler, Liam, Rick and Dan) took a look back at what went wrong for the Copper and Blue in that home opener. That then bled into today's delicious debate: What concerned you the most about that opening loss?

From there, they chatted a little about the news that Raphael Lavoie was claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights. The Lavoie saga has gone on all week with the former second round pick going on waivers three times. The guys expressed their disappointment that yet another prospect goes at the door without much value coming back.

It was time for Ask The Idiots which is a segment you can take part in by sending us your questions on X. They started with a couple of Oilers questions by then pivoted to more Thanksgiving themed submissions. Finally, it was time for Hot and Cold performers before the boys headed into the long weekend.

  • We're back to two episodes of Oilersnation Radio per week, and we're kicking off the regular season schedule with our annual predictions episode to go over how we think the next six months will play out.

We kicked off the Tuesday episode of ONR by reviewing the news since Friday's episode. We started with Raphael Lavoie being claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights, who then put him back on waivers 24 hours later. This unique situation actually allows Edmonton to bring Lavoie back, provided that no one lower in the priority list also puts in a claim. The boys also walked through the salary cap implications of these moves, even though no one understood what was happening.

Looking ahead at the 2024-25 season, the boys offered their boldest predictions for the upcoming campaign, and there's little doubt everyone is drinking the Kool-Aid. From predicting McDavid's point production to team totals to Stuart Skinner's workload between the pipes, the boys were all over the map with their numbers. For the most part, the guys were all on the same page with most of their predictions, which made the disagreements all the more enjoyable.

Finally, the guys wrapped up the Tuesday episode of ONR with a round of betting talk ahead of tomorrow's season opener against the Jets. Given that the season is opening up at Rogers Place, the fellas are excited to put a couple of nickels down in the hopes of making a few dollars to kick off the year.

  • There's nothing better than a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to guide you through the final hours of the work week with an hour of Oilers talk.

The guys kicked off this week's episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not Noah Philp will be on the Oilers' opening night roster. With Derek Ryan listed as day-to-day, the door is open for Philp to slide into that 4C spot, but is that the right decision for night one? There's also an argument to be made about sending Philp to the Condors and letting him play big minutes in the AHL.

Changing gears, we looked at the price of Oilers jerseys after a user on Reddit noted that you can buy a new jersey and spend an additional $10 to get their sponsor patch on the front. While the guys were talking about jersey prices, Tyler interrupted the conversation by chatting about a new post on Connor McDavid's Instagram account that implies he will be doing some kind of food play.

Next up, the guys spent a few minutes looking at the Jeremy Swayman contract situation in Boston and wondered how/if that will impact future negotiations with Stuart Skinner here in Edmonton. Seeing as Swayman and Skinner are basically the same age, wouldn't a massive contract for the former in Boston lead to one for Stu here in Edmonton?

Finally, we wrapped the podcast up by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. With the pre-season kickoff just around the corner, the boys had plenty to talk about this week for the first time in forever. Needless to say, this week's episode probably had the most hockey talk that we've had in a while, and it feels good to know that the NHL is almost back for another season.

  • There's nothing better than a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to wrap up your week and guide you though the never ending pre-season with an hour of Oilers talk.

We kicked off this week's episode of ONR with a delicious debate about whether or not we should be freaking out anything pre-season related. Even though the results don't matter at this stage of the season, there is a small chunk of Oilers fans who are already concerned about the lack of success. Unexpectedly, talking about the pre-season led the guys to argue whether or not the team is actually better than they were last season.

Changing gears, we walked through some of the biggest news stories coming out of training camp. From roster cuts to Friedman speculating that Evander Kane won't miss the entire season, there was plenty of news to talk about from this past week and the squad offered their takes on all of it. Even without much going on, the boys still found reasons to disagree and argue about what's been happening.

Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. With the pre-season kickoff just around the corner, the boys had plenty to talk about this week for the first time in forever. Needless to say, this week's episode probably had the most hockey talk that we've had in a while, and it feels good to know that the NHL is almost back for another season.

  • There's nothing better than a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio to wrap up your week and guide you into the pre-season with an hour of Oilers talk mixed with a dose of shenanigans.

We kicked off this week's podcast with a delicious debate about which prospect we were most excited about based on their pre-season results. Whether it was thinking Magnus Paajarvi would be the Answer to Rob Schremp making magic with his stick to thinking Anton Lander would be a future captain, the squad had all kinds of great answers about players they thought were going to be stars. That said, drinking the Kool-Aid on prospects is part of being a fan.

Moving over to training camp, the Oilers kicked off their on-ice sessions earlier this week and that meant plenty of news came out on and off the ice. Most notably, Evander Kane revealed some of the injuries he's been dealing with all summer and what the plan is going forward. And with players like Kane banged up and on the shelf, the Oilers added some depth to their training camp roster with a pair of new PTOs in Mike Hoffman and Jasper Weatherby.

• It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes.

We started this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio with a delicious debate about training camp and what we're predicting as the biggest surprise to come out of the warm-up period. Whether it's Vasily Podkolzin winning the Ty Rattie award, Josh Brown securing a spot on the opening day roster, or Travis Dermott securing a contract, the boys were tossing out their boldest takes on what we think will happen in the coming weeks.

Changing gears, we looked at the news from this past week that both Evander Kane and Darnell Nurse will miss the start of training camp (and beyond) due to some injuries they're still working through. Even though we knew that Kane was likely to miss some time, finding out that Nurse will miss some time early is a significant blow to a d-corps that is not exactly the deepest. Sticking with the defence, we also said farewell to Markus Niemelainen after signing a deal to play in Berlin after spending the last six years in the Oilers organization.

Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Even with training camp just around the corner, the boys still managed to yammer on for over an hour about everything in the world of hockey despite nothing happening quite yet.

  • It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes. This week, we're discussing Johnny Gaudreau's loss, Leon Draisaitl's contract extension, and what moves might still come before the season starts.

We started the podcast with a quick tribute to Johnny Gaudreau after the NHL star was tragically killed along with his brother Matthew last weekend as a result of an alleged drunk driving incident. No matter how you look at the story, the details get worse and even sadder the deeper you look.

Changing gears, we got the Oilers talk going with a delicious debate about Leon Draisaitl's eight-year contract extension and whether or not it's too much money, as some other fanbases have suggested. As you'll hear, there is not one person on the podcast who believes Leon Draisaitl is overpaid and actually thinks he could end up as a bargain before the deal is over.

Finally, we wrapped up the Friday episode of Oilersnation Radio by answering your questions with another round of Ask the Idiots before diving into Hot and Cold Performers to recap everything that's happened over the last seven days. Even with all of the news that happened this past week, the boys still managed to yammer on for over an hour about everything in the world of hockey despite it only being late August.

  • With Friday being the 7th annual Oilersnation Open, the guys got together to drop this week's episode of Oilersnation Radio a day early. As always, they kicked things off with their delicious debate, which today was focused on the reports that the Oilers could be looking at the trade market as a way to address the right side of their blueline. Do the guys think Stan Bowman will make a splash before the season starts? Is that even the right move to make? They debated it.

From there, they started talking about some other potential options on the blueline, specifically Tony DeAngelo. Frank Seravalli is reporting that DeAngelo would love to be an Oiler and would be willing to play for cheap. He's only 28-years-old but he comes with some baggage. The group talked about whether or he's a player worth considering to help solidify the blueline. They also talked about the NHL Network's ranking of the top 20 defensemen in the league, which featured two Oilers!

During Ask The Idiots, they spoke about some big what if moments from NHL history, the bottom-six pieces they're most excited to watch next season, and Dan had a question about a personal conundrum he's facing.

They wrapped up the show with their Hot & Cold Performers of the week and gave their predictions for the Oilersnation Open!

  • It's Friday afternoon, which means a fresh episode of Oilersnation Radio has been edited and is ready to massage your ear holes. This week, we're talking about the Oilers' decision not to match the offer sheets, whether the defence is good enough, and what moves might still come before the season starts.

We started the podcast with a delicious debate about the Oilers' decision to walk away from the offer sheets for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. Was it a good idea? Was it the best move they could have made? Should they have matched? As you'll hear, the boys were split on the team's decision. Needless to say, the boys weren't on the same page regarding the offer sheets.

Next, the gang walked through the team's trades last weekend and whether those moves made anyone feel better about the team losing two quality prospects. As you'll hear, it's hard for the boys to get too excited about the trades when there's still plenty of fear of the unknown regarding what we have relative to what the team lost.
