City Lore and the Municipal Art Society founded the Place Matters project in 1998. City Lore is a cultural organization dedicated to advancing the living cultural heritage of New York and other cities through publications, media, and school and community programs. (www.citylore.org) The Municipal Art Society is a private, non-profit membership organization that is committed to enriching the culture, neighborhoods, and physical design of New York City. (www.mas.org)
Place Matters developed from the work of a committee on historical and cultural landmarks, spearheaded by Ned Kaufman, former Associate Director of Issues at the Municipal Art Society. City Lore and many other NYC organizations contributed to the committee and the report it issued in 1996. The report led to a successful conference called History Happened Here, organized in 1997 at the Museum of the City of New York by City Lore and the Municipal Art Society. We learned from the conference that many people shared our concerns about the places of value disappearing around us. Since few strategies existed for promoting or protecting such places, our two organizations decided it was time to mount an initiative dedicated to such aims.
The Place Matters mission is to foster the conservation of New York City's historically and culturally significant places. These are places that hold memories and anchor traditions for individuals and communities, and that help tell the history of the city as a whole. We are convinced that such places promote the well being of New York's many communities in ways that too often go unrecognized. -

Consume This is a Gold Award-winning podcast. It’s brought to you by Consumer NZ, hosted by Jon Duffy and Sophie Richardson.
Our goal is to help you navigate the increasingly complex world we live in. For the most part we all want to make good, well-informed decisions, but it can be difficult to know what they are. We’re constantly bombarded with conflicting articles, news bulletins, social media posts and research reports. Throw in marketing and ad campaigns and it’s practically impossible to keep up. You can’t be an expert in everything. You shouldn’t have to be. And let’s face it, you’ve got other things to be getting on with.
That’s where we come in. Consume This is designed – or as one of those ad campaigns would say, specially formulated – to provide you with impartial, entertaining and actionable information. We cover the topics that you’ve told us you care about. Things that will actually make your life better and provide a window into our culture along the way.
All the views and opinions expressed in the programme are the hosts’ own and do not represent those of any employers, institutions or organisations they are affiliated with, unless explicitly stated. At least for Sophie, Jon's the Consumer CE so... All views and opinions are expressed in good faith.

What would happen if every commercial contract were rewired with the planet in mind? We could make contracts a powerful tool in the fight against climate change.
On Contracts for the Climate, we introduce you to The Chancery Lane Project’s (TCLP’s) precedent climate clauses – and help you to get them into your contracts.
In each episode, we address one big climate problem. Then we introduce a TCLP clause designed to fix that problem. Join us as we walk through the opportunity presented by each clause, who can use it and how it could slot into a wider sustainability strategy. -

TupuToa was borne from the need to see increased Māori and Pacific representation in leadership positions in the corporate sector. Māori and Pacific peoples make up a quarter of our population and yet are largely invisible in corporate New Zealand.
Our programmes aim to address the persistent inequalities facing our communities and disrupt intergenerational disadvantage. We work to reduce entry and advancement barriers which are biased against Māori and Pacific communities and support organisations in successfully recruiting and onboarding Māori and Pacific peoples.
