    Welcome back to another encore episode! Today, we’re exploring a topic that so many of us can relate to: feelings of unworthiness.

    I’ll be honest—I still struggle with these feelings. There are days when I catch myself thinking: “I haven’t done enough,” “my ideas aren’t fresh enough,” or even “my clothes aren’t right for this situation.” The good news? These feelings happen less and less as the years go by, and I’m here to encourage you to take the same journey.

    If unworthiness is something you’re wrestling with, I encourage you to poke at it. Yes, it’s uncomfortable—like crawling through a mucky swamp or climbing a mountain straight out of an episode of Dora the Explorer. But the only way to get to the other side is to go through it.

    What is Code Switching? Adjusting your language, tone, and behavior to fit different environments like work or social gatherings.What is Masking? Suppressing parts of yourself to fit in or avoid judgment.What Does Authenticity Mean? Showing up as your true, unfiltered self.

    We’ll also explore how to balance these concepts in a way that feels authentic to you. While code switching and masking aren’t inherently bad, using them intentionally can help create feelings of safety and comfort. Awareness is the key to navigating these behaviors effectively.

    We all have them - Goals! However, sometimes people can get caught up in a hustle culture trying to achieve their goals. Which in the end, leads to unhappiness.

    One of the most important things that I want you to take away from today's episode is, don't tie your self worth to your goals. Happiness and self worthiness are not on the other side of goal achievement, so stop the hustle culture and achieve goals in a healthy manner.

    Today we are talking about the last phase in our Slow Parenting Series, the adult years and estrangement.

    Estrangement happens later in life when a family member cuts off another family member. This could be an adult child deciding to distant themselves from a parent or relative. Many times it is because the adult child is attempting to protect themselves.

    So... how do you keep your children from becoming estranged from you?

    Clinical psychologist Lindsay C. Gibson wrote the book "Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents" where she talks about the four types of difficult parents. I am sharing with you more detail on these parenting types and how they can lead to estrangement in the adult childhood years.

    The emotional parentThe driven parentThe passive parentThe rejecting parent

    There are many ways to prevent them from becoming estranged, one of the most simple is having good communication. Say your sorry, show humility, and really work on yourself!
