It keeps you guessing as you figure out who the real villain actually is.

Spring forward in time with a time machine instead of an annoying alarm clock. There are many possibilities to imagine when you think about the future. Will cars fly? Come along on the journey with Jay and Shua as we explore some of our favorite future predictions Hollywood has given us.

    Enjoy Martys!

Hollywood celebrates the powerful, emotional, and artistic films every year during the Academy Awards. But often the most popular movies get left out entirely. So this year Enjoy Stuff recognizes the other movies. The ones we cheered (or jeered) for, the lighthearted, the goofy. With the votes of our Earbuds, Jay and Shua hand out the Martys (Movies Are Really Timeless, Y’know) for the first annual Enjoy Stuff Alternative Awards.

With the deepest respect we present some of the amazing women in Hollywood that entertain, fascinate, and inspire us. Whether they are playing a friend, an independent leader, or an action star, these women are phenomenal. Jay and Shua try to narrow down some of our favorite stars. It was a lot harder than it sounds. But we used our appreciation of their performance and their contributions to ideas and causes that affect the real world. This was only a short list of some great women. Who would you add to the list?

    Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay gets post apocalyptic with Denzel Washington’s 2010 film The Book of Eli. What we’re Enjoying

What would you do if your body was being replaced by chrome nanites? How would the world react with the threat of an alien infestation? That’s the question in the book that Shua is Enjoying, “The Singularity Trap” by Dennis E. Taylor. An Audible exclusive and another great Sci-Fi book. Jay revisited an Alfred Hitchcock masterpiece from 1954, “Rear Window” starring Jimmy Stewart. One of many brilliant pieces of art from the legendary director. It will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing.

    Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay travels to Pandora in the 2009 James Cameron extravaganza, Avatar. While it may borrow ideas from a lot of different sources, it’s a beautiful watch with some important themes. So start recycling people! Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

    Enjoy Groundhogs!

Jay and Shua take a deep dive into the history of Groundhog Day and the 1993 classic Groundhog Day, starring Bill Murray and Andie MacDowell. They explore how the holiday started and how it turned into what we know today, where a groundhog predicts the weather for the year ahead, because, apparently, we trust rodents to be trustworthy meteorologists. The guys also dissect the beloved film, touching on the themes of personal growth, redemption, and how a guy stuck in the same day for so long can still teach us something about life. Along the way, they toss out their own theories on just how long Phil was trapped in that time loop and what it might have been like to live through it. And Jay gives Shua some trivia about the movie and the holiday that you probably didn’t know, unless, of course, you're a groundhog.

What do you like about Groundhog Day? Do you want to hear a joke about Deja Vu? First person that emails me with the subject line, “I got you babe” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. Come talk to us in the Discord channel or send us an email to [email protected]

    Enjoy Apes!

This week we’re taking a deep dive into the Planet of the Apes franchise, starting with the original five films that changed the sci-fi landscape forever. From groundbreaking makeup effects to thought-provoking themes about society, freedom, and the future, we’ll break down what made these films so iconic. We’ll even talk about that legendary twist ending—spoiler alert: it’s not just the apes who are monkeying with time! Get ready for a walk through the ‘60s and ‘70s, where human civilization was thrown into chaos… but at least there were plenty of monkeys to blame.

Then, we swing into the remakes, reboots, and the massive media expansion that followed. It's a bananas good time, so don’t go ape on us—tune in for a full breakdown of everything from the original films to the latest apes on screen!

    What we’re Enjoying

Is life really a happy song? Shua tried to find out when he rewatched a Shua Family favorite, the 2011 revival, The Muppets. It’s a fun romp with the classic characters and a few new friends, like the whistling Muppet fan, Walter. Plus, it resurfaced some great memories with his kids. Jay re-read Ready Player Two by Ernest Cline. Despite not having the same umph as the first book, there were some good moments that celebrated the pop culture we grew up with.

    Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay slingshots back and forth with The Time Traveler’s Wife (2009). In this fairly unique take on time travel, Henry (Eric Bana) has a genetic condition that causes him to boomerang through time. Which makes it pretty hard for Clare (Rachel McAdams) to have an engaging marriage, (or at least throw a good surprise party). Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com. Plus, you can tune in to SHIELD: Case Files where Jay and Shua talk about great stuff in the MCU.

    Enjoy Toys!

Jay and Shua are celebrating Mattel's 80th anniversary by taking a nostalgic deep dive into the legendary toy company's history. From Barbie’s dream house to Hot Wheels' epic car chases, they explore the toys that made generations of kids skip school, forget chores, and sometimes go through barrels of batteries playing Electronic Football. With a side of humor and a sprinkle of nostalgia, they also discuss the evolution of Mattel’s lineup, including the iconic He-Man action figures—because nothing says "childhood" like battling over who had the better sword.

The guys also dig into some classics too, like the 3D magic of the View-Master (which was basically your first VR headset, minus the headache) and the intense, back-and-forth slugfests of Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots. As they chat about Mattel's rise to toy royalty, they’ll take you on a wild ride through their most cherished memories, sharing funny stories about toys that taught us all how to "play hard" and sometimes "play dirty." Get ready for a rollercoaster of laughs and memories as they celebrate the legacy of a company that’s been keeping kids (and adults) entertained for eight decades.

Did we mention one of your favorite Mattel toys? Which ones shaped your childhood? First person that emails me with the subject line, “You can tell it's Mattel, it's swell!” will get a special mention on the show. Let us know. Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay examines some social commentary with Neill Blomkamp’s District 9. The 2009 alien immigrant film reflects a sad and ugly truth about the way humans treat each other. Enjoy Dragons!

Dragon tales have been told since the times of Mesopotamian mythology. Some believe that dragons may have been creatures to watch out for as far back as 75,000 years ago in South Africa. Whenever they began, their popularity has not waned. So when we began to make motion pictures, dragons were the perfect foils. We look at dragons from Puff to Maleficent to King Ghidorah. Are they rideable? What are some defining characteristics? Are they good or bad. Hop on for luck as Enjoy Stuff gets dragony!

Fans of Monty Python may know Terry Gilliam as the animator of their bizarre cartoons featured on the show. Or as the only American born member of the legendary troupe. But as his career progressed, Gilliam took his imaginative talents to the director’s chair. His visually stunning and sometimes uncomfortable films thrust you into dream-like worlds and explored important characteristics of society. From the time-hopping child view of Time Bandits, to the award winning exploration of class structure in Brazil, Gilliam takes you on a brain trip with each of his tales. If it weren’t for his terrible luck during productions, we may have even more to explore. This is Terry Gilliam.

Shua found a new series of books by an author named Dennis E. Taylor. It’s all about a guy named Bob, who’s been revived 150 years after his death in the 21st century and had his consciousness placed inside a self-replicating computer, spaceship. His directive is to find a new home for the dying human race. Soon he has the makings of many copies of himself, creating the Bob-iverse. He also tells us about a little known sci-fi movie called Frequently Asked Questions About Time Travel. It takes all the tropes of time travel movies and throws it into a fun comedy. Jay has been rewatching some great episodes of the classic series Mythbusters and revisiting all the fun that Adam and Jamie created from blowing things up. Shua enjoyed the over the top action of the latest holiday movie Red One, starring Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans, saving JK Simmons Santa Claus, and of course Christmas.

    Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay watched some Jedi travel through time. Ok, they weren’t Jedi in this one, but still. Jumper features Hayden Christensen as a young time jumper and Samuel L. Jackson and the one chasing him. It was a fun idea, that didn’t quite develop the characters enough. But there was plenty to enjoy throughout. Read his article on RetroZap.com. What we’re Enjoying

Shua found another old book. The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury was a fascinating prediction of where the human race was headed. While not all of Bradbury’s predictions may have come true, the human nature that he spotlighted is still as ugly as ever. Jay revisited the classic Bill Murray, Harold Ramis movie Stripes. Not only did he have a great time on his rewatch, he learned some interesting things about the original vision for it too.

    Sci-Fi Saturdays

This week on Sci-Fi Saturdays Jay found some footage of the time when a gigantic creature attacked New York. Cloverfield was JJ Abrahms vision of a kaiju, filmed in a unique way. Scary and different are good ways to describe this 2008 flick. Read his article on RetroZap.com. And make sure to play around with the interactive map on MCULocationScout.com.
