Bij Echt Gebeurd vertellen mensen op een klein podium hun eigen waargebeurde verhalen. Een deel van die verhalen verschijnt op deze podcast. Presentatoren Paulien Cornelisse en Micha Wertheim richtten Echt Gebeurd in 2008 op naar voorbeeld van het Amerikaanse The Moth. Anders dan bij The Moth leest er bij elke verhalenmiddag van Echt Gebeurd ook iemand voor uit het dagboek dat hij of zij bijhield als puber.

De illustraties tot en met aflevering 387 zijn afwisselend gemaakt door Ella Bril en Jikke Lesterhuis, de illustraties van aflevering 388 tot en met 439 door Jill Heesbeen. In 2024 (aflevering 440-491) was onze illustrator Eline Veldhuisen, in 2025 (aflevering 492-543) Peter van Dorst en in 2026 worden alle afleveringen geïllustreerd door Emilio Stoppelenburg Markoviฤ.
De eerste 150 afleveringen van de podcast werden gemonteerd door Nicolaas Vrijman. Sinds aflevering 150 zijn samenstelling en montage in handen van Gijsbert van der Wal. Eef Prins is onze zakelijk leider.
