Uber: Revolutionizing Transportation and the Gig Economy Uber Technologies Inc., founded in 2009, has become a household name and a global phenomenon that has fundamentally altered the landscape of transportation, technology, and the modern workforce. From its humble beginnings as a luxury car service in San Francisco to its current status as a multinational technology company, Uber's journey has been marked by rapid growth, controversy, and transformative impact on urban mobility and the gig economy. The idea for Uber was born on a snowy night in Paris in 2008 when Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp struggled to hail a taxi. Frustrated by the experience, they envisioned a service where one could simply tap a button on their smartphone and have a car arrive at their location.
