  • NEW: Artemis and the return to the Moon. The BBC’s space podcast will be following the Artemis II mission every day for two weeks. Nasa plans to return to the Moon for the first time in more than half a century and the next step is Artemis II. The mission aims to send four astronauts – on a spacecraft called Orion - to loop around the Moon. They plan to go further from Earth than any human in history. The story of Artemis II will be told by space scientist, Maggie Aderin-Pocock, and British astronaut, Tim Peake, and US space journalist Kristin Fisher. The last crewed mission to The Moon was Apollo 17 in 1972.

    Orion’s crew is scheduled to be Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen.

    De Cryptocast bestaat uit een A-deel en een B-deel. In deel A neemt Daniël Mol het belangrijkste cryptonieuws van de week door. Deze aflevering wordt ook wekelijks uitgezonden op BNR Nieuwsradio. De Cryptocast legt het doorgaans ingewikkelde cryptonieuws begrijpelijk uit en plaatst het in de context van de echte wereld, voorbij coins en blockchains. Wat zijn de belangrijkste headlines van de afgelopen week? Hoe kijken regeringen wereldwijd naar de ontregelende opmars van cryptovaluta? Welke bedrijven lopen voorop in deze revolutie?     In deel B zoeken Daniël Mol en een co-host van dienst de verdieping op met één gast uit de wereld van cryptovaluta, economie of technologie. Hoe veranderen deze ontwikkelingen ons economisch verkeer van de toekomst?

    Want: cryptovaluta worden steeds volwassener en zullen niet meer verdwijnen. Financiële instellingen bemoeien zich in steeds grotere mate met bitcoin. Inmiddels kan je niet alleen via gereguleerde cryptobedrijven, maar ook via traditionele beleggingsproducten beleggen in crypto. Daarmee krijgt Bitcoin een plek in het traditionele financiële systeem.

    Ook andere blockchaintechnologie heeft een steeds grotere impact op onze samenleving. Grote groepen mensen krijgen toegang tot het financiële systeem door stablecoins, bitcoin of andere cryptovaluta. Dat geldt niet zo zeer voor de westerse wereld, maar juist voor alle landen daarbuiten. Adoptie van cryptovaluta stijgt het snelst in zogeheten 'lower middle income'-landen, vaak met onzekerheid op politiek of economisch vlak als ondergrond.

    Centrale banken wereldwijd zitten ook niet stil. De uitrol van digitaal centrale bankgeld wordt steeds realistischer. Het ontstaan van een 'CBDC', in welk land of continent dan ook, is een direct gevolg van de revolutie die cryptovaluta teweeg heeft gebracht. Daarom doet de Cryptocast met open blik verslag van de verschillende overheidsprojecten die achter deze oude munten in een nieuw jasje zitten.

    Met kritische interviews geeft de Cryptocast kleur en duiding aan de volatiele maar altijd kleurrijke cryptowereld.

    Het team

    Daniël Mol is redacteur en presentator van de Cryptocast. Hij is sinds 2017 met Bitcoin bezig en kwam in 2021 bij het team van de Cryptocast.

    Bert Slagter is co-host en de prijsanalist bij de Cryptocast. Hij schreef in 2021 het boek 'Ons Geld is Stuk', is host bij Satoshi Radio en analist bij kennisplatform Bitcoin Alpha.
