  • Learning a language is hard, but Easy Stories in English makes it easy! Ariel Goodbody introduces each story, explaining difficult vocabulary and talking about their life. Thanks to their high energy and clear pronunciation, the stories are entertaining and simple to understand.

Whether you’re a beginner, intermediate or advanced learner, there’s something for everyone. The stories cover a wide range of genres, such as fairy tales, myths and legends, drama, comedy, romance, horror, science fiction and action. There is a balance of children’s stories, as well as more mature themes for adults. While listening to the stories, you can read the transcript at EasyStoriesInEnglish.com and get both reading practice and listening practice. With enough time, you’ll find that your reading and writing skills improve as well.

Ariel Goodbody has a strong background in linguistics and language acquisition, and they base the podcast on Stephen Krashen’s theory of comprehensible input. Ariel changes the level of grammar to suit each level, but prioritise comprehension and good storytelling over anything else. Vocabulary is described using paraphrase, cultural references, pictures, intonation and sound effects. British culture, especially English culture, is naturally introduced throughout the episodes.

Ariel also has experience in theatre, and treats every episode like an audiobook performance. With character voices, dramatic timing and a range of accents, adults and kids alike will soon forget that they’re ‘learning’ at all!

Some of the most well-known stories from the podcast are: the Doggo and Kitty stories, Grimm Brothers’ Fairy Tales, The Very Hungry Dragon, Sleeping Beauty, The Perfect Pet, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Why Blood is Red, Saint George and the Dragon and Pioneers of the Continuum. Many stories are adapted from famous authors, such as Edgar Allan Poe, Hans Christian Andersen, Isaac Asimov, Josef Čapek, Margery Williams and Ryuunosuke Akutagawa.

Ariel studied linguistics at the University of Cambridge and started teaching in 2018. As a language teacher, they use comprehensible input techniques such as TPRS and story listening. In 2021 they published a series of graded readers. These easy readers allow fans to get their favourite stories in a physical format.

James, Elizabeth Gaskell, Bram Stoker, and Charles Dickens) to 20th-century Weird Tales (Robert Aickman, Fritz Lieber, Clark Ashton-Smith, and H. P. Lovecraft) and wander from the Gothic to the Odd, even to the Literary, and then back again.
Each episode is followed by Tony's take on the story, its author, its content and any literary considerations, which may be useful to students!

  • Filthy Henry is Dublin's first and foremost fairy detective. Something of a niche job, since most people do not know that fairies are even real. Let alone need a detective. But when troublesome fairies look to make things awkward for mortals there is one man tasked with stopping the magical meddlers. The only problem is, Filthy Henry hates everybody indiscriminately and would much rather be left alone. Each season covers one book, written by Derek Power and narrated by Niall Milton. Each episode is one complete chapter from the book the season is covering. In between seasons we also release short, never before published, stories on a monthly basis. All music featured in the podcast is an original composition by Niall Milton.

Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

  • An enthralling darkly comic fantasy book read by a diverse cast of incredible performers interspersed with music. An exciting new way to experience an audiobook, entirely available as a free podcast.

Tricksters inhabit the world as we know it, an elusive fraction of the population either blessed or cursed with the power to creep through walls, control animals, endure crippling blows, or carry out countless other seemingly impossible feats. Billy Winn, a charismatic evangelical preacher with the power to heal, has steamrolled into the White House on a campaign to eradicate all people with tricks. As he cures hordes of new believers and his rivals wake up without heads, rumours swirl about his pet Angel of Death.
After a fast-walking postman is fatally stabbed in a trick-targeted hate-crime, a fresh wave of fear spreads through the United Kingdom, where a struggling cleaner is trying to make ends meet. This enigmatic trickster with the power to shrink objects is brought into the fold by a desperate resistance group. Only one man can put a stop to Billy Winn’s malevolent crusade, and he’s been dead for two thousand years. If his remains can be shrunk down and smuggled out of Israel, then a boy necromancer and a re-animated mind-reading game show host might just be able to turn things around.
If only it were that simple.
The Trick is a wickedly comic dystopian tale filled with deadly games, superhuman feats, and intricate political intrigue in a world of magic and monsters.

  • Welcome to The Field.

This is an audio mystery set in the small town of Llanantwm. The story unfolds during a unique moment in the town's history, and while we would all like a neat, ordered understanding of what took place during these times, this is not what happened.

Collected from various sources, The Field is an opportunity to dive deep into the world and make the story from the fragments that exist.

    Listen, decide and create…

  • Folxlore tells the stories of queer people living literally and figuratively between two worlds.

In one sense, we try to live normal lives while the world tells us we are not normal.

In another sense, our normal lives are interrupted by a very not-normal rift opening up between our world and another plane of existence filled with nightmarish horrors.

This pilot series deals with themes of first romance, hate crime related trauma, and queer parenthood

Folxlore is rooted in everyday Glasgow, where monsters are always on the edge of your periphery.

  • 100 years after L. Frank Baum's saga that began with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, the Gale Family Farm sits abandoned in what's left of the great Kansas prairies. After her parents' messy divorce, Jessi Hugson and her mother move to Dorothy's old neighborhood for a new beginning. Things were already off to a shaky start, but when Jessi and her cousin Wallace find a jewel-studded bracelet in Dorothy's front yard...things get twisted. Twister'd, even.
