"Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus," authored by Mary Shelley, is a Gothic novel that delves into themes of ambition, creation, and the repercussions of scientific progress. The narrative centers around Victor Frankenstein, a highly intelligent yet obsessive scientist who becomes fixated on the quest to discover the mystery of life.
Fueled by his ambition, he assembles a being from cadavers and animates it through his scientific expertise.
However, Victor is immediately repulsed by the hideous look of his creation and decides to leave it behind. Despite being intelligent and capable of feelings, the creature is rejected by society because of its frightening appearance.
Overcome with feelings of loneliness and rejection, it becomes filled with a desire for revenge against its creator for neglecting it.
The being launches a brutal rampage, murdering those dear to Victor and causing widespread devastation. Overwhelmed by guilt, Victor commits himself to the goal of annihilating the creature for the remainder of his life.
The story concludes in a tragic manner, as both the creator and their creation face their inevitable demise.
In this narrative, Shelley explores the risks associated with unrestrained ambition, the moral challenges of assuming a god-like role, and the loneliness that arises from being unique, turning Frankenstein into a deep contemplation of human nature and accountability.(Summary by Dream Audio Books) -
